Chapter 1080
In the cozy office of Reeves International in Devonport, Elodie stared at the massive shipping container in front of her, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "What's inside this thing?" she wondered aloud. "We're not sure, ma'am. It arrived early this morning from Summerfield," the shipping company said.
"Summerfield?" Elodie's face flashed with uncertainty. "Open it up," she ordered.
"Yes, Ms. Reeves."
The secretary stepped forward and opened the container, then jumped back in shock. "Ms. Reeves! It's Mr. Griffin!"
Heart pounding, Elodie rushed over. Griffin lay inside the container, eyes shut tight, looking deathly pale.
"Griffin! Griffin!" she cried, frantically patting his face to wake him up. But her eyes quickly caught the sight of a bleeding wound on his abdomen. Her heart sank. "Quick! Call a doctor!" she shouted.
"Right away!" The secretary ran off to fetch medical help, while Elodie stormed to the front desk, her voice trembling with urgency. "Find out who sent this, now!"
"It was Sophie! The new Mrs. Costello from the Costello family!" the receptionist stammered.
Hearing Sophie's name, Elodie's face darkened further. Griffin had been missing for days, and she never imagined he would go to Summerfield to confront Sophie and Colby.
Back in her office, Elodie glanced at Griffin lying in the container, her brow furrowed with frustration. Giving up her shares in Burke International was her own decision; Griffin shouldn't have been so reckless as to go after Sophie and Colby!
"Cough, cough..."
Seeing Griffin in pain and
unconscious, Elodie felt a pang of guilt. She stepped closer and murmured, "I was already planning to give up Burke International's shares. Why did you have to go to Summerfield? Besides, Sophie gaining control of Burke
International might not even be a good thing."
Late that night, Sophie received a call from Tricia.
"Ms. Sophie, Reeves International has collapsed entirely. The advertising partners and spokesperson deals under Reeves Entertainment have been cut in half. I've pulled back as you instructed." "No, don't pull back."
"What?"
Tricia couldn't believe her ears. Just days ago, Sophie had insisted on not competing with Reeves International. What had changed?
"Stick to the original plan. I want Reeves Entertainment gone from Devonport within six months."
"This..."
"Is there a problem?"
"Elodie still has the backing of the Burke family and holds significant power within the Reeves family. Taking her down is possible but will require a lot of money and effort."
"I don't care about the cost or effort. I want Reeves International out of Devonport."
Tricia was baffled. What had Elodie
done to anger Ms. Sophie so much? Sophie was known for her forgiving nature, often turning rivals into affies. Aside from the elderly Mrs. Burke, S Corporation hardly had any enemies in Devonport.
"Just do as I say. I've always thought it unnecessary to compete with her, but Elodie seems to think S Corporation is an easy target. Let's show Reeves International what we're capable of these next few days. Even without S Corporation, Devonport isn't hers to control."
