Chapter 1070
Bang!
The hotel doors flew open with a loud kick. Sophie stormed in, and this time, she wasn't alone. She had backup.
Griffin was there, handcuffed and tied to a chair, looking like a complete mess. His abdomen had a stab wound from Jenna; it wasn't deep, but it was still bleeding. Someone had hastily bandaged him up, but his face was pale and devoid of color.
Sophie walked up to him, pressing down on his wound with a cold, emotionless expression. Griffin broke out in a cold sweat, his lips turning ashen.
"I don't have many virtues, but loyalty is my one strong suit," Sophie said icily. "My man is in the operating room fighting for his life, and I'm going to make you feel the same pain he is."
With that, she had a serving cart wheeled over, loaded with the breakfast Griffin had sent to them earlier. Sophie picked up a cup of coffee, walked over to Griffin, pinched his nose, and poured the coffee down his throat.
Griffin coughed violently, his black shirt now soaked with coffee. He looked a wreck, but somehow, he remained composed, his face a mask of indifference as if emotions were foreign to him.
"Not afraid of death, huh? So, you must care about someone. Is it Elodie?"
The mention of Elodie's name made Griffin's eyes flash with rage. He lifted his head and glared at Sophie, his look intense enough to tear her apart.
"So, you do care about Elodie," Sophie continued. "Originally, I had no major issues with her. If she wanted Burke International, fine, she could have it. But you went after Colby. Whether it was her idea or not, I'm prepared to fight her to the end."
"This has nothing to do with her..." Griffin muttered.
"Make no mistake," Sophie cut him off, "whether it's her doing or not, you're her man, and someone has to pay."
She held Griffin's chin and said, "You got Odie to work for you, which means you and Odie are close. You attacked us because you feared we'd go after Elodie, right?"
Griffin stayed silent.
"I've met plenty of tough guys like
you," Sophie said. "If I can't get anything out of you, I'll go to Odie. You sneaked into Summerfield to strike at us, and if Elodie doesn't know,
wit means you didn't want her to. Your identity isn't that simple, huh? Elodie's little sidekick? No, with your skills, you were probably an enforcer like Colby and Odie, working for Mr. Elwood overseas, weren't you?"
Griffin didn't speak, but a flicker of unease crossed his eyes.
Sophie caught the look and
continued, "The snake venom won't last more than an hour. You know exactly what you used. From now on, you'll answer my questions. truthfully, or else... after you die from the poison, I'll have your body flown back to Devonport and delivered to Reeves International. Everyone, especially Elodie, will see your
corpse. I think she'd be heartbroken."
"You!"
"First question, what's your name?"
Griffin clearly didn't want to comply, but Sophie just smiled and said, "You have less than fifty minutes before the poison kicks in. Think carefully before you speak.
