Chapter Epilogue
It’s a beautiful Halloween day. Somewhere in a castle, a woman is looking for someone.
“Where are you? You little one...”
“Whaa,”
“Aaarrrgghh, run fast for your life,” the woman shouts and runs down the stairs to the living room.
“Hey, Mom. Not so fast. I’m too small to walk down a flight of stairs quickly,” shouts the little boy with black wavy hair. “Ah, I thought you were three years old. Big enough to catch up with mom,” the brown-haired young mother shouts. The mother slows down her stride not only for the little boy, but also for her big bulging belly that slows her down. She plops herself down in the sofa and soon the little boy jumps into the sofa with her.
“Oh, no. Dracula you found me. Don’t drink my blood, I need it for me and the baby.” “Hihi, mom. You’re a little crazy. My teeth aren’t real and I’m not a vampire. I am a Lycan and a prince,” the little boy replies proudly. “Hihi, you sure are little Michael Black. You’re a prince, but this evening you’re Dracula and I’m a vampire woman.”
“No, Mom. You’re the queen of vampires,” little Michael says, hugging his mom.
“Say, Lana. Are you sure I’ll have to go with you. I’m a king, not a Smurf,” Damon says with a raised nose. “You didn’t want to go to the store. Had you been with us, you could have chosen.”
“Hey, not fair. You dressed cool. I’m blue and white.”
“Dad, don’t complain. You look beautiful and if you want, I can make you a vampire Smurf.”
Michael jumps off Lana’s lap and runs over to Damon. He jumps into his father’s arms and sinks his fake teeth into Damon’s neck. “Oh, no. I don’t feel good,” Damon shouts theatrically. He puts Michael on the ground and falls to the ground with a lot of show. Damon lies still and the little Michael calls worriedly, “Daddy, Daddy. Nooo!”
Lana puts her hand over her mouth to hide a smile. Michael sits down worriedly with his father and shakes with his hands on Damon’s chest a few times.
“Mwahahaha, I’m going to drink your blood.” Damon jumps up and runs behind a screaming Michael. Lana giggles as she sees the two running one after the other and looks at her stomach when she feels a small stomp. Lana rubs her bulging belly and says softly to the little miracle in her belly, “In a few years, you’ll run with those two, my sweet baby-girl.”
evening has fallen and the family is walking along the streets. Some warriors walk behind them, ready to prevent attacks on the royal couple.
“Tttrrrriiinnnnggg.”
The umpteenth doorbell is pressed by Michael’s little finger. “Trick or treat,” he shouts.
“Oh, my goddess. Prince Michael or should I say Mr. Dracula?” an old woman asks. “I’m Dracula, there’s no Prince Michael here,” Michael replies proudly. “You certainly are,” the woman laughs as she throws candy into Michael’s pocket. Then she looks at Lana and Damon. “King, Queen. An interesting choice of costume, my king.” The woman tries to hide her laughter. Damon growls and looks at the ground in exasperation. This is yet another one that appeals to him about his costume, and he will think a few times next year before giving Lana the free choice.
Lana looks at Damon when he no longer has a facial expression. She knows he’ll get a link.
“My king, someone has crossed the border. We were too slow to see who or what. I think of a Rouge by the not so pleasant smell that remains.” Damon, links to his warriors and soon one of them has Michael in his arms. “Ma’am, go into your house and crawl into a safe place. A Rouge has been spotted.”
Damon links with the Alpha of the village and soon we see parents with children running to their houses. The old woman is still standing in her doorway. “Please, come into my house. Your palace is too far. Damon looks at the warriors and they nod in confirmation. We enter the old woman’s house and Lana sits down in the couch with a frightened Michael on her lap. Soon there is a knock on the door and Damon gets a link from Beta Chris: “A car is at the door. Warriors are patrolling all the streets. Come to the palace as soon as possible. This is where you are safest.” “All right, we’ll be there in fifteen minutes,” Damon replies.
Once in the car, Michael is among his parents. He leans against his mom. “Mom, why do Rouges want to hurt us?” “I don’t know either, sweetheart. Every Rouge is different. I hope so...”
A heavy bang against the forward makes the car uncontrollable. The driver tries with all his might to gain control of the steering wheel, but soon the car drives off the track into the ravine. The car keeps rolling until it crashes hard into a tree. The driver is instantly dead. The warrior in the passenger seat is unconscious. Lana is pulled out of the car by her hair. She cries out. Soon Damon is out of the car and has the Rouge by his throat. The big muscular man’s whole body is full of blood and according to Damon, he can no longer transform into his wolf due to the injuries. The Rouge lashes out at Damon with his claws. Michael runs to his mom and sees the blood running out between her legs. Lana groans in pain and holds her stomach. “Mommy, Mommy. Don’t die,” he pleads with tears in his eyes. Two strong arms grab Michael and the strong smell of destruction tickles his nose. Another Rouge grabs Michael by the throat and makes the boy gasp. Michael tries to kick with all his might, but his feet only touch the air. Lana tries to stand up to save her son, but soon has a painful contraction. Damon is still fighting two Rouges.
Even if only a few minutes pass. If you need help, these minutes last like hours. The first warriors and Beta Chris have arrived. Soon all the men and wolves are fighting. Michael is rescued from the rouge’s arms just in time and rushes to his mother.
Lana cries out and Michael is scared to see his mom in pain. “Mom, where are you hurting? You’re not going to die, are you? No, Mom. You can’t die?”
“No, my sweetheart. I’m not going to die. Your sister is born. The accident triggered the birth.” Michael looks angrily at his mom’s belly and shouts furiously, “Naughty sister, you can’t hurt mommy.”
Soon the warriors, Damon and his Beta gain the upper hand. Fifteen dead Rouges are scattered on the ground. Some warriors are wounded, but they are no big wounds. It’s quiet for a moment, until Lana screams of pain fill the air. All attention is focused on her. Damon rushes to her side and asks worried, “Lana, what's wrong?” “Daddy, don’t you see that. Mommy, hurting because of my naughty sister.” Behind Damon, Beta Chris is laughing. Damon looks under Lana’s skirt and sees a head pushing against her underpants. “Chris, stop laughing and link for a doctor. The head is already visible,” Damon shouts, pulling Lana’s underpants down her legs. Michael looks in horror at the bloodied underpants and then at his mother who screaming back in pain. “Lana, press,” Damon orders. “I don’t want to,” she wails. “It’s still a month early. I don’t want another Star.”
Damon looks at his wife with sadness: “You have to push. The head is already visible. There’s no going back.”
A contraction ensues and this time Lana push with all her might. Damon has the head in his hand. Lana continues to push, and soon, in the split of a second, the whole body follows the head. It’s quiet for a while. Damon looks at the girl in his arms. There is no movement at first until suddenly the crying can be heard from her little mouth. Lana and Damon both start laughing. Damon puts the baby on Lana’s breasts and takes off his sweater to put on the baby. Michael is silent and stares open-mouthed at his smiling mom and the baby in her arms. “Hey, all is well. Mom and sister are fine.” “But mom, just was in pain and she’s laughing now.” “Boy, that’s something you’ll find out later. Now, you can say hello to your little sister.” Michael turns up his nose. “My sister is dirty. She’s full of blood and white stuff.”
Lana, Damon and Chris laugh. “It’s okay, if your sister is washed then you should greet her.” “I can do it now, but I just can’t touch her.” “Good too,” Lana laughs. Michael looks at the small face. The baby is currently eating her fist. “Hello, little sister whose name I don’t know. You can’t eat your hand. You still have to use that to play with me. Even though I don’t know how you’ll do that. You’re way too small. Mom and Dad are nice though and I’m your big brother. I’m fun too. Uh... mama. Do you already know a name for my sister?” “No, we had a few names in mind, but we weren’t out yet.” The sound of sirens come closer.
“What names?”
“Fey, Willow or Maya,” Damon replies.
“Euh... choose, Maya. Then both our names start with an M.”
“Alright, we’ll choose Maya. Hello, little Maya Black.”
“Princess Maya Black,” Michael corrects his mother.
“Good. You’re right. Welcome, to this world little Princess Maya Black. This Halloween will always be in our minds, because we are now celebrating twice.”
Damon grabs Michael in a tight hug and the paramedics and doctor walk up to them.
