Remembering You

Chapter Phone Call

Phone calls from the past, keep ringing in the middle of the night. Hoping I would answer just to say I am alright. But something happens anytime I answer, a private number. Who could that be? Another one of his friends? Could it be my past running into me again? Like before, but hopefully this time less annoyed. But every time I answer, something is different. I expect them to ask how I have been? How have I been healing since my accident? When am I going to be happy again? I expect that when they hear happiness from me, they would be upset.

But I never hear that. Weeks ago, someone I thought would never speak to me again called to tell me something. Before I could even say hello, he laid it all out. Stated he was having such a wonderful day, until he felt something come over him. He said he felt his brother there with him, telling him to call me. He was skeptical of doing so, but he still did it. He started asking me questions, wondering how I have been. Not allowing me to get a word in. Until he broke the casual conversation and mentioned his brother. From there that conversation took a turn to which I did not think it would.

He said, he felt his brother with him. Dylan had told him to wish me luck, because for the first time he knows I am happy. He said things I only saw but never spoke of. He told me that for the first time he knows I have not pushed myself into the darkness. I have not built an unbreakable wall. Because for the first time he knows that I have let someone in. He said that Dylan wanted the best for me, and somehow in some magical way led me to the guy I get to now call my boyfriend.

Except this is not a love story, or draft of what will eventually happen.
