Rejection Denied

Chapter New Member

Nixon

“Wake up, you weak son of a bitch.” Jax snarled. He nipped at me, “Our mate overpowered us. You should’ve given me control.”

Jax is my jackass wolf. I continuously struggle with holding him back. We don’t get along with each other, and the only time he speaks to me is when he wants to insult me.

To others, he’s very intimidating, with his jet-black fur and his cold blue eyes. He’s a husky killer with a horrible temper. He wanted to kill Aviry in the beginning, and now…

“You would’ve tried to claim her.” I sat up in my mind space.

“You’re damn straight! Right over the hood of this car!” Jax huffed and circled me.

“Why are you playing with that weak mail in bride? Aviry is our mate; we should be with her. If you keep pushing her away, that blood bastard Cay is going to have her all to himself. If I had control, Aviry would’ve already been mated to us and only us.”

“And that’s why I never let you take over Jax! I’m in control. I say when we attack and who we kill. And I choose who we mate with. Aviry is—”

“PERFECT for us!” Jax growled in my face. “And the next time she rejects you. She’s going to meet me. Get your shit together Nixon!”

I was suddenly pushed back into reality before I could reply. Jax turned his back to me and retreated to his personal space.

I rolled my head to the right to see Aviry’s seat empty. What does he see in her? She’s the opposite of Kasey. Aviry is cutthroat with her actions, and I will admit she’s a strong independent woman. But her cold heart prevents her from having normal relations with others.

Knock Kock!

I looked out my window to see Alpha Jared standing there grinning. “Good, you’re up. Wait, what happened there?” He shouted, pointing to his forehead.

I pulled down my visor and looked in the mirror to see a small lump forming on my head. I touched and winced at the tender sensation.

Fucking Aviry.

I pushed open the car door as Jared laughed on the side. “Shut up, Jared. What do you want?”

“We just got back an hour ago. And you’ve been asleep out here for a while. So, I came to check on you. But now I guess I should’ve come earlier.” He chuckled. “What happened?”

We walked out of the garage, “My fucking champion happened. I swear she needs to be committed sometimes.”

“Ah, yes. Aviry, the lovely dire wolf. How you didn’t know I still don’t understand. But hey, at least you still have your balls.” Jared laughed and slapped my shoulder. I shrugged him off and continued forward.

“That girl is spicy. I bet she’s extra spicy in the bedroom. I can easily picture her as a dominatrix. The whips, the chains, and that tight black leather would look amazing on her body.”

Jax and I growled and turned to look at Jared. “Hey man, I’m just saying. No need to worry, though. I like the sweet ones.” We climbed the stairs to the front door.

Images of Aviry in my bed began to invade my mind.

“How’s Derrick doing?” I asked as I opened the front door and entered the foyer. Not that I care, I just needed to change the subject.

“Cay was able to stop the bleeding. And the healers say they may be able to—”

“Nixon, Jared, where have you been? Get upstairs now for a meeting!” Alpha Kane shouted.

“I’ll race you,” Jasper said, pushing me to the side.

We both charged up the stairs to the third floor. We passed by my office and went into the large meeting room next door. All of the alphas were there except for Derrick of course.

Jared and I both took a seat across from Sam and Xavier. Don was on Jared’s left. Victor was on Mark’s right. Kane took his seat at the head of the table. We left the other head seat empty to show our respect to our leader Alpha Kane.

“Great, now that we’re all here, we can start. I know it’s late, so I’ll make this quick,” Kane said speedily. “We need to cancel the competition.”

“Fucking finally. Let’s do a luna lottery instead.” Alpha Sam said, covering his face with his hat. He leaned back in his chair and kicked his feet up on the table.

Alpha Victor stood from his chair. “What? We can’t do that. What’s the meaning—”

“Great! I call the dire wolf.” Alpha Xavier said, raising his hand.

“You still want that crazy bitch after what she did?” Alpha Don spat.

“I like the ones that bite.” Xavier grinned. “I like to bite back.” He said, snapping his teeth at me.

“Strangle him.” Jax snarled.

I rolled my eyes and looked to Alpha Kane. “Why are you canceling?”

“Well, without Derrick and his champion. We have an uneven pairing for the next two events.” He scratched his peppered beard and crossed his arms. “And I don’t know anyone who can replace him.”

Jared leaned back in his chair. “So, your saying we need another alpha?”

“Yes, and another champion,” Kane added.

This sucks ass. We have planned and prepared for this event for months. And now it’s coming to an end before the real fights can occur. I still want to win this competition, and I know Aviry will be pissed. But why should I care? I can always pay Aviry. And I have Kasey. I already have my luna; little do the others know.

Wait…

“I think I know someone.” All alphas turned to look at me. “He may not need a luna, but he’s an alpha, and he can bring us a champion. If his champion wins, I’m sure we could just pay him.”

“Who is this alpha?” Kane asked, leaning forward. “And how do you know him if I’ve never met him.”

“His name is Alpha Orion, and he’s from a smaller local pack.” I crossed my arms and sat back. “And I’ve been in contact with him for some of my pack affairs. I’ve done my research on him already. He’s clean, and I’m sure he needs the money.”

“If you trust him, Nix, then we’ll continue with the competition. Get in contact. If he agrees, have him here before the next event is announced.” Kane said. “Next, we need someone to look over Derricks pack now that he’s lost his—”

“I VOLUNTEER!” Alpha Sam shouted out. He clapped his hands and rubbed them together. “The last time I was there, those fuckers mocked my country ass. I want to see their faces when I take over and bring the whole kit and kaboodle with me.”

“….Ok.” Kane cleared his throat. “You will need to have your Beta or Gamma there until your available. Next order, the champion’s funeral will be held tomorrow. Her family will be sent to my pack and will be taken care of. Derrick’s actions to involve outsiders cost us an innocent life. That is unacceptable. Let’s all take this as a lesson to treat our people well.”

“Yes, or Nix will sic his crazy ass dire wolf on you,” Victor added. “What should we do about her? I say we automatically place her in the battle royale.”

“That would be fun to watch,” Xavier added.

Don slammed his fist on the table. “Why should we allow it to compete. This is an unfair advantage over the other champions.”

“That it is a female that will lay you on your ass!” I stated, defending my champion. “Remember, you are just a guest here. I will not tolerate disrespect. No one knew about her being a dire wolf.”

“Gentlemen, I have the final say. And that brings up my next topic. The dire wolf know as Aviry Mills will need to be replaced—”

BOOM!

The door to the meeting room slammed in. Everyone turned to see who interrupted Kane. The sweet smell of fresh vanilla filled the air, and my seething vixen sauntered in. She was grinning from ear to as she looked around the table.

“Alpha holes.” She greeted us. “I see you’re having a late-night meeting.” Aviry placed her hands behind her back and stood in front of the table. “But, more importantly, I heard my name.”

“Aviry? What are you—”

“Nixon! I guess I’m not the only mythical creature around here.” She gave me thumbs up and winked. “Nice horn, dude.”

Alpha Kane stood from his chair. “Aviry, now is not the time for your antics. You can’t be here right now. This meeting is for alphas only not the champions.”

“Oh, so I’m in the right place.” She pulled out the last head chair and plopped down. “Technically, I am an alpha.”

“And how is that!?” Alpha Don snarled. He stood from the table to stand next to Alpha Kade.

Aviry reached across the table and poured a cup of water. “I challenged, and I took down Derrick. I could’ve sworn you were there.” She said, furrowing her brows.

“Females can’t be alphas! The highest position you will ever hold is a luna. And Let me remind you that you didn’t want his title.” Alpha Don replied. “So, you can’t claim his pack!”

You don’t have a say in what I become.” Aviry sipped her water and wiped her mouth. “Mmm, but you’re right. I don’t want his title, or his pack” Aviry linked her hands and sat up straight. “I want my own.”

She pushed her chair back and stood. Standing tall she crossed her arms and looked directly at Alpha Kane. “I’m your new Alpha Female, Aviry Mills.” She looked around the table and smirked. "Are there any objections?"
