Rejection Denied

Chapter Knowlege (Optional)

Authors Note

This chapter is optional. It’s a summary of how my werewolf world works. I’ll fill you guys in on the important parts in later chapters. But, if you’re interested to know what Aviry is reading, please continue.

Werewolf Transformation

There are two types of werewolves—the kind who are born. And there are other’s who are changed. Two different types of transformations occur, but both are the same species. Both have strength and speed that vary from wolf to wolf.

Werewolves who are born are offspring of at least one other wolf. These types of wolves will grow up as normal human children. They will not show any signs of being a werewolf appearance-wise or by scent. But they will possess the power and strength of one, gradually growing over time.

Some believe that this is how the Moon goddess hides her young descendants from being hunted, but she also wants them to protect themselves if needed.

When the child reaches maturity at the age of 18, the transformation will begin for that werewolf. The wolf transformation will be on the night of their birthday. The first shift is always painful; this will only last for a few moments.

A wolf’s scent will become more pronounced after the first transformation. The strength and speed will increase significantly once the human and wolf accept each other. By accepting the bond, the two halves combine their power versus working as a divided force.

When a wolf is changed, the turning process can be excruciatingly painful and can take a few days to fully complete. The change’s survival rate has increased over the years due to ’Bane,” a powerful serum that can temporarily disable a wolf.

When a transformation is in progress, the human DNA will mutate to adapt to the new changes. Simultaneously, as the mutation, the inner wolf will rapidly begin forming in the now shared mindscape. Once created, the wolf will fight for control of the body. The human will shift from a wolf and back multiple times, causing strain on the still changing body.

This is where the serum comes in to play. By disabling the wolf, the human has time to change and heal. With the wolf calm, communication and bonding can begin. The transformation is a success if both the wolf and the human accept the relationship. Finally, a full shift needs to be completed during a full moon. Locking in the new bond will begin the journey for this new werewolf.

Full Moon

Full moon nights are periods of transformation for werewolves. While most wolves dedicate their night to running free and embracing their true nature. For some, it’s a night to give thanks to the Moon Goddess, the mother of werewolves. This is also the only time a new wolf, who accepts the bond, can complete their shift.

Werewolf Pack

A werewolf pack is a family and community. The chain of command in each pack ensures each member has a purpose and responsibilities. The responsibilities can range from warrior to necessary help. All jobs are needed to run a thriving community, and with a strong line of command, the gears will run smoothly.

Chain of Command

Each pack has a chain of command, one of each title who all work together to lead their people.

Alpha- The leader, the strongest wolf in the entire pack. An alpha title can be a birthright, or it could be won in a challenge. If the challenger overtakes the alpha, they will become the new leader. The alpha has an array of gifts, most are kept a secret, but some are common knowledge. For example, Alpha Control, using this authoritative voice any wolf under this command, must do as they are told.

Luna- The mate of the alpha, fated, or chosen. The luna is second in command, working alongside the alpha. Most luna’s deal with pack affairs and don’t typically get involved in matters of violence. Some would say a luna’s most important job is to bear an heir to pass on the alpha title. But every luna is different, some chose to be submissive, and others tend to be involved in the action, despite the alphas protest, if they disagree.

Beta- Second in command if there is no Luna. They take care of all the same responsibilities with the added task an alpha may add. But if the alpha is killed and there is no other heir. The Beta is next in line unless he is challenged, in which the winner will become the next alpha. But if there is a luna, the beta is third in command and still has the alpha’s task to complete. They may also lead over the warrior class when it comes to a fight instead of the alpha being on the front line.

Gamma- Gamma’s are next in line after the beta. They are mainly responsible for overseeing the pack members, ensuring each member is content and safe. They ensure the patrols are running smoothly, ensuring the pack stays safe from any local threats.

War General- Responsible for training the warriors, creating war tactics, and helping with the pack’s overall safety measures.

Mate

A mate is an eternal relationship between two werewolves. There are two types of mates destined or chosen.

A destined mate or soulmate is found typically by scent. Some mates can even be found by sight alone. Each mating experience is different for everyone, but each one results in a strong bond. A destined mate is chosen specifically for a werewolf by the Moon Goddess. The couple will complement each other in ways that are unique to them.

A chosen mate is when a male werewolf chooses a partner as his mate. The chosen must accept the bond. By doing this, a destined mate can’t be found. A bond of this type of mating isn’t as strong as a destined mate.

Some say this is because the Moon Goddess doesn’t approve of the couple. Others say the wolves are weakened due to the premature rejection of a destined mate.

It is recommended that wolves find or wait for their destined mate. Especially pack leaders, a weakened wolf means a weaker pack.

Rejection

All werewolves have a choice when it comes to their mate. They have the right to reject their partner, whether it is a destined or chosen mating bond. The rejection is a spoken vow between both werewolves. Each must accept the denial for it to break the bond.

A broken bond is excruciatingly painful for a destined couple. Both the wolf and human will experience a soul-shattering torment that will indefinitely weaken both. One might say this is the punishment for not accepting fate.

For a chosen couple, it’s similar to a break-up in a long-standing human relationship. It may hurt the heart, but it will not weaken the human or wolf.

Each destined couple should try to accept the mate bond to avoid any form of devastation. Please remember that a destined couple is mated for a reason. Try to understand each other before choosing the drastic measures of rejection.

In the unfortunate circumstance of the option, the following must be stated to begin a rejection.

“I, (Your title, and Name), reject you. (Title and Name of mate).”

Marking and Mating

When a mate bond is accepted, the couple must complete the bond. By completing this bond, the couple is bound by mind, body, and soul. Each wolf will begin by marking each other. A bite to the neck is typical. It’s easy to be seen to ward off others. Similar to how a wedding ring on a human is used to symbolize their union.

Lastly comes consummating the bound. This is done immediately after marking since a female wolf will go into heat soon after, but not necessarily that same day. But to deflect unmated males from claiming the female, the full mating bond must be secured.
