"Xander why?" Isabelle's voice is small as she faces us, her wrists restrained by silver cuffs, her eyes wide and pleading as she stares at me, her eyes shining with unshed tears.
I try not to let her affect me, but it's impossible not to when she places a hand on her stomach, a blatant reminder that she's carrying my child. Regan is silent, her jaw clenching, while Xavier and my father remain calm, perhaps the calmest of all of us. He looks thoughtful, continuing to stare at Isabelle as though she is some sort of conundrum that he can't quite work
out.
"Cut the crap, Isabelle, you had to know we would come after you. You took our mate" I snarled, fighting back the urge to wrap my hands around her neck as she blinked at me and then gave a slow smile.
The bitch was only pretending to be afraid. She thought she was untouchable because of the pregnancy. She was about to learn that even that was not enough to save her.
"Fine, then I guess I'll stop pretending." It's as though a mask is lifted off her face as she peers at us with an icy expression on her face "I'm only sorry we didn't kill Regan sooner" she spat out. "Then you would know the feeling of pain and what it's like to lose something important to you. You killed my father and you took the title that was meant to be mine" she screamed at Regan who remained unaffected by her.
"Bitch" Regan's voice is low as she stares at Isabelle with hatred, "what you and Heather intended for Alpha Kai to do to me, be thankful I'm not in that cell with you right now" she warned.
Xavier stiffened. I met his eyes. We both knew what Alpha Kai had fully intended to do to our mate on Isabelle and Heather's say-so. I gritted my teeth while my father spoke, his tone nonchalant, giving nothing away about his feelings or what he truly thought about the matters at hand.
"Isabelle Ramona you are charged with treason, attempted murder, poisoning an Alpha, and many, many, more charges that I don't feel inclined to utter," my father said frowning "How do you plea to these charges?" he asked as though there was any doubt in our minds that she was guilty.
Isabelle scoffed. "Do you think I am stupid? I plead not guilty. I will wait for the elders to arrive and then we will see what they have to say."
I knew she was going to use that as an excuse to prolong the inevitable. She was out of luck. The elders were not coming. Not this time.
She sounded cocky and arrogant. My father took the wind out of her sails. "The elders have already determined their judgment. There will be no trial this time" he informed her as she stared at us, the blood draining from her face.
She looked so pale, she looked like a ghost. I relished her terror as realization began to dawn on her face. She wasn't getting out of this, not this time.
"What, no" she whispered. "That's not right. I mean, everybody gets a trial" she blurted out.
"Not this time" my father is blunt. "The amount of charges against you and your mother is enough to convince the elders that you are both a threat if you continue to live."
Not to mention the evidence against the both of them had been overwhelming. The elders had all been unanimous in their judgment, agreeing that Isabelle and Heather Ramona were to be executed as soon as humanly possible.
She staggered backward, her complexion going more pale. This was not going as she had anticipated. Up until now, she had

been lucky but now...now she was facing reality and it was more brutal than anything she could have envisioned.
"You can't do this" she gasped, putting a hand to her chest and swaying on her feet.
"What's the matter, Isabelle? Are you feeling the consequences of your actions?" Regan's voice is matter-of-fact as she narrows her eyes at her stepsister.
"Xander" Isabelle's eyes swing to me as Regan glowers at her "Xander you can't let them kill me" she pleaded.
"Why not?" my voice is cool.
She almost killed my mate and had her raped. I'm having a hard time seeing rationally right now. Isabelle's mouth parts open in shock. "I'm carrying your child Xander. Are you really intending to kill your child as well as me?" she said, almost shrieking as she put her hand back on her stomach again.
Xavier speaks "How do we know that the paternity test with our minds."
Ou provided was not fake? You will do practically anything to mess
She snorted. "You all know that I'm telling the truth. You can't deny it. Would you kill an innocent baby for my wrongdoing? What kind of monsters are you?" she asked widening her eyes.
I bit the inside of my lip so hard that it began to bleed.
Silence. Nobody spoke. Nobody wanted to champion Isabelle and nobody wanted to state the obvious. We kill her, we kill my child. It was an internal struggle. How could I possibly forgive myself for sentencing a child who was not even born yet to death because of their mother's actions? Regan bows her head.
"She's right," Her voice is dead, and she refuses to meet either Xavier or my eyes. "The child deserves to live. It hasn't done anything wrong. But what alternative do we have?" she pondered out loud.
"Then Isabelle dies the moment the child is born" my father's voice is decisive, even as footsteps sound behind us. "As for what to do, I have a solution that will suit all of us, well except for Isabelle," he said with condemnation.
"You don't scare me" Isabelle sneered, but her voice was shaking.
She was afraid, even if she didn't want to admit it. It must have stung when her mother abandoned her in order to save her own ass. Isabelle had been abandoned and Heather was the reason she was here. Nikolas was resting upstairs, not wanting anything to do with her punishment. A fair request.
I was surprised to see several doctors and nurses hurrying towards us, a stretcher, and various medical equipment and bags being carried. Isabelle looked stricken as she looked at the amount of people there were, hurriedly backing away. "Father?" my voice is questioning, "What do you intend to do?"
It had to be something medical, but what he was about to propose, I had no idea. Xavier and Regan looked just as confused. Whatever my father had come up with, he hadn't divulged it to them either. We were all at a loss.
"We can't risk Isabelle being able to freely move about," my father says, folding his arms across his chest as the doctors and nurses stop and wait, submitting their necks respectively "but we also have that baby to consider and the length of time it needs to develop in her womb."
He glances apologetically at Regan whose expression is thunderous, perhaps sensing how much this conversation is hurting
her.
"Therefore I propose that we put her in a medical coma," he said calmly.

A medical coma? It was a sobering thought. Isabelle looked panicked as she glanced between us and the doctors.
"Is that even possible" my voice is low.

One of the doctors nods. "Yes, Alpha Xander. We can put her in a coma and monitor her vitals. We can ensure that the baby receives the right amount of nutrients and fluids to develop at a proper rate while the mother remains unconscious. The child will be born via c- section when it is fully grown, meaning that no harm will come to it."
"No" Isabelle screams, shaking her head and beginning to back away even further. "You can't. I don't give you consent to do this. I refuse." She's openly sobbing now, her eyes wide and pleading.
"We don't need your permission. As you said, we can't kill you while you remain pregnant, but we can keep you from hurting anybody else. We will keep the child alive, but whatever happens to you, will only be a result of your own karma coming back to bite you" My father's tone is dark and deadly.
I had never seen him act this viciously towards anybody before, but Isabelle and Heather had hurt him far more than my father could forgive.
He turns and motions to the doctor as he begins to unlock the cell door, causing Isabelle to begin screaming louder as they begin to swarm inside, poking her with a needle and causing her to slump to the floor. She's placed on a stretcher and attached to machines before the doctors begin to drag her out of the dungeon, with determined expressions on their faces.
