Rejecting My Lycan Mate: Finding My Wolf (Three Lycan Kingdoms Series Book 2)

Rejecting My Lycan Mate: Finding My Wolf: Chapter 90

Dimitri’s POV

As hard as it was I had to leave the blissful bubble I was in. I really wanted to spend all my time with Maddie. I wanted to make love to her. I wanted to lie naked next to her. I wanted to touch and kiss every part of her. I wanted to talk about our future. I wanted to learn more about her. I wanted to listen to the sound of her voice and let it lull me to peaceful sleep.

But I couldn’t do that. There was so much to do and I had to force myself to focus on work.

“I don’t want any male wolf sleeping on our floor,” I said as I looked at the lists of our guests. “Maddie is mated, but some of them don’t care about that.”

I felt anger rising inside me. I knew a few Alphas who were cheating on their mates. Their mates knew about it, of course. We could feel if our mate was unfaithful. It was an unbearable pain and I couldn’t understand how those bastards could hurt their mates like that. I would tear myself apart if I ever did anything to hurt Maddie.

“I would never do anything, Dimitri,” Maddie said quietly.

I could hear pain in her voice and my heart stopped. She misunderstood in the worst way possible.

“Maddie, princess, no,” I said tightening my fists. “I didn’t mean it like that. I know that you wouldn’t do anything, but some of them would. Some of them are cheating on their mates and I am afraid they could try to do something inappropriate.”

Maddie’s eyes widened.

“You are going to tear the paper, Dimitri,” Will mumbled as he continued writing something down.

I looked at the paper in my hands and placed it back on the desk.

“They are cheating?” Maddie asked quietly. “Why?”

“Because they are pigs,” Ellie mumbled angrily.

I sighed and nodded. Maddie furrowed her eyebrows and bit her lower lip.

“There are no males sleeping on our floor,” Will said, making me look back at him. “I arranged for everyone to stay on the lower floors. The entrance to our floor will be forbidden.”

I nodded and looked at the paper. An unfamiliar name caught my eye.

“Who is Alpha Rhys?” I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

“Alpha Ryker’s son,” Will said, looking up at me. “He recently took over his father’s pack.”

I raised my eyebrows. “He is 18 already? I could swear that Ryker’s son was still a child the last time I visited his pack.”

“They grow up fast,” Will mumbled as he looked back down at the papers in his hands.

I heard footsteps approaching my office and I immediately knew who it was. I tensed up and had to hold back a growl. Skol stirred and I could feel his tension growing.

“Come here, Maddie,” I said, making her look up at me.

She was sitting on the couch and talking to Ellie. I didn’t want her that far away from me when he walked inside.

She furrowed her eyebrows and I reached out for her just as we heard a quiet knock. Maddie looked at the door and I felt a wave of panic wash over me.

“Come in,” Will said calmly.

“Maddie!” I exclaimed and she stood up immediately.

She was just a few steps away when the door opened and Kendrick walked inside. He looked around the room and smiled when he saw Maddie.

I wanted to jump up and claw his eyes out.

“Good morning,” Kendrick said as he closed the door. “Can I talk to you, Alpha?”

Maddie was finally close enough so I could grab her. I pulled her onto my lap and I relaxed immediately. I wrapped my arms around her waist and took a deep breath, trying to calm down a little.

I knew why he was here.

“Of course,” I said, pointing to the armchair next to Will. “Sit down, Kendrick, please.”

Kendrick approached the arms chair and sat down. He looked at Ellie and smiled.

“Hello, Ellie,” he said. “It is nice to have you back.”

Ellie smiled politely. “It is nice to be back.”

Kendrick looked at Maddie again and his smile widened.

“It is lovely to see you again, Luna,” Kendrick said. “I wish we could have talked more at the celebration the other day.”

“What do you need to talk to me about, Kendrick?” I asked before Maddie could answer.

I didn’t want her to talk to him more than it was necessary. I didn’t want him looking at her. I could see the lust in his eyes and it was driving me insane. I wanted to kill him.

Kendrick looked at me and took a deep breath.

“The council was informed that our former Luna was imprisoned yesterday,” Kendrick said. “Can you explain why didn’t we hear that from you, Alpha?”

I tightened my jaw and focused on Maddie’s scent. I knew that it was the only thing that would keep me calm.

“It is a delicate matter, Kendrick,” I said calmly. “I wanted to arrange the meeting with the council in the upcoming days so we could discuss it. I didn’t have time to do it until now because Alphas meeting is in a few days and there is a lot to do still.”

Kendrick nodded and leaned back in his chair.

“I understand, Alpha,” Kendrick said. “But imprisoning a former Luna is something that should be discussed urgently. The council would like to meet with you today.”

I tightened my arm around Maddie’s waist. I needed her to be even closer to me His condescending tone was pissing me off so fucking much.

“I agree, Kendrick,” I said, trying to remain calm. “It is an urgent matter and we will meet to discuss it tomorrow morning.”

“Alpha…,” Kendrick spoke, but I interrupted him.

“Tomorrow morning, Kendrick,” I said sternly. “Be here at 8 a.m.”

Kendrick tightened his jaw and I could tell that my stern tone was angering him. I didn’t give a shit. I was the Alpha. I was the King. I had to respect them and I had to hear them out, but they were the ones who bowed down to me, not the other way around.

“Yes, Alpha,” Kendrick said as he stood up. “I will see you tomorrow at 8 a.m.”

Kendrick looked at Maddie and smiled.

“Goodbye, Luna,” he said. “I will see you tomorrow.”

“Goodbye, Kendrick,” Maddie said politely.

Kendrick smiled at Ellie and Will and walked out of my office.

I buried my nose into Maddie’s hair and took a deep breath. Her scent calmed me down a little, but just thinking about that meeting tomorrow had me burning with anger.
