Chapter 13
I approached him and said calmly, “You’ve changed so much.”
“Have I frightened you?”
Alpha Derick’s lips were dry as he forced a smile.
I shook my head and said nothing.
“You must be tired. Please, sit.”
He patted the bed, indicating that I should sit beside him.
I sat down and looked at this man who had evoked both love and hate within me.
The atmosphere grew heavy, and Alpha Derick said wistfully, “Eileen, I truly wish we could go back to the past.”
“How far back?”
I asked with curiosity.
He gazed at me with deep affection and said, “Back to when you were still that sweet, obedient girl.”
“For the past six months, every time I dream, I see you sitting there, tilting your head and listening to the teacher, while I sit next to you, watching you quietly.” Everything then was so beautiful, so simple.
As Alpha Derick spoke, a smile touched his lips.
That smile was filled with endless nostalgia.
“You may not know, but back then I didn’t dare to approach you. You were an Alpha, and I was an Omega. We were never meant to be together.”
I couldn’t help but recall those days, when the radiant Alpha Derick was an unreachable ideal for me.
“I knew.”
Alpha Derick smiled knowingly and said, “I was deliberately lingering around you.”
“For no other reason.”
“I just wanted to get your attention.
“Look, in the end, you still chose to be with me.
“That means I succeeded, right?”
Alpha Derick and I shared a smile.
I gazed at him quietly, and he looked back at me just as silently.
Just like when I had looked back at him earlier.
His eyes still sparkled.
But there was little emotion in mine as I continued calmly, “So, you liked me for a long time, didn’t you?”
