Chapter 5
Nolan’s POV
“She really can heal us!” I murmured in amazement through the mindlink to my brother a few days after the coronation took place.
“Mother felt that she was a healer the second she entered the room. I wouldn’t have given her a chance otherwise. Now I can walk to the restroom on my own. No one knows apart from you and mother,” he replied, relaxing on the bed.
We had just finished having sex with Nesta, who was now deep asleep between us. Her naked body looked more serene, with new curves emerging from different angles, making her look even more beautiful than when she arrived, all hungry for acceptance.
I still have a bruise from when I hugged her and her bone pokedine so hard. All malnourishment.
“Thanks for letting me know that evening. I was planning on rejecting her, I sighed, leaning back against the headboard. The day I saw Nesta in the library, I disliked her instantly and Rowan saw the way I tensed, ready to reject her or worse throw her out. He immediately mind linked me that she is our key to getting healed. I refrained and acted instead.
I knew she was his wife but I fucked her anyway. She is also a whore who didn’t push me away and allow me to have my way with her so cheaply on the carpeted floor while my brother watched. I even marked her to keep the act intact. Fuck.
“She is your mate, why would you reject her? Do you know how much it hurt when Nora rejected me? It hurt like a fucking bitch Rowan inquired like I didn’t know how he went through hell,
Nora was his childhood friend who was always by his side. When she found out she was his mate, she rejected him and left without a backward glance. She said she couldn’t deal with a disabled man, even though she liked him as a FRIEND.
Yeah, women
can be so fucked up. I barely tolerate them.
He was devastated when that happened. He knew no one would be able to accept him as he is, since his own childhood friend rejected him as her mate. So, he resigned himself to the belief that no one would accept him.
Until Nesta
Years ago, he could walk with both his feet until an accident happened that no physician in the world could heal. An elderly woman told us that if there were still healers among the werewolves, they would be able to cure him.
But they were all killed decades ago in a war for being hypocrites years ago. I hated those vile creatures for what they did to the werewolves.
But as soon as Nesta walked into the dining room, our mother, with her own powers, sensed that there was a healer among them. It was Nesta. She didn’t know she was a healer, and no one has told her, in case she decided to switch it up. Bunch of hypocrites. Healer.
Rowan and I found the elderly woman and told her about the healer we found. He said we shouldn’t lose her, for she is our lifeline. I cannot wait to be better and get back to the life I have missed so much. But most of all, to find Nora for Rowan.
“I cannot stay mated to her now that I can hear. Look at her. She is so ugly, I announced in distaste, and he turned to look at me in disbelief. It shouldn’t shock him though
“I can easily reject her because we are not fated, but what about you? You cannot do that. She is your soulmate, brother,” he advised, trying to be helpful.
“Didn’t you hear her? Her first mate rejected her. It won’t hurt as bad as when he did. She is used to it, so I’m definitely going to reject her as soon as I’m perfectly alright, I rolled his eyes and got off the bed.
“That is a heartless thing to say brother.” He clicked his tongue with a chuckle.
“I was never known for my kindness, was I?” I strike right back with a huff.
“Whatever helps your boat, brother. Let me know before you reject her.”
“I know you are planning to reject her to go find Nora too. I have contacted Nora, and she is coming back in two days,” I said, pulling on my pants, then turned to him with a cocky smirk. “You’re welcome.”
I looked down at Nesta and chuckled to myself. Who knew our savior would be in the form of an ugly, boney little girl? Certainly not something I expected, but I don’t really care now that I’m healed.
To be sure Rowan was healing, he slowly stood up from the bed and made his way to the window. A laugh bubbled in my throat, but Nesta stirred in bed, he rushed to his wheelchair while I left the room. I can’t stand her.
“Morning,” she opened her wide blue eyes, which looked brighter since she came here.
I watched them from afar.
“Morning, love. Hope you slept well?” He forced a smile right back, which wasn’t hard because he is in a joyous mood.
Yes, I did. Where is Nolan?” She asked, looking around the room to find me.
“Just left for a run in the woods. I’ll be leaving to go meet with the royal cabinet. Treat yourself to a nice bath and breakfast, hmm?” He said, then kissed her forehead, watching her eyes shine before he left the room.
Fucking bastard, acting like a gentleman. I went ahead of him though.
I found my mother in her wing and went straight to her on the couch, where she was getting her toenails done. The woman wouldn’t agree that she is too old for all of that, She thinks I don’t know about her own little affairs, yed to my mother that both Rowan and I were planning to reject Nesta, she hastily dismissed all the maids around her.
a sharp turn, she fixed her gaze on me and uttered a firm “No.”
“Why the hell not? Rowan can walk perfectly now, and I am also line. We don’t want her, I protested.
“She has helped you all heal! How could you do this to her?” my mother countered, her voice laced with confusion.
“I don’t care if she helped us heal. We are grateful for that, which is why we will compensate her well before she goes. It’s as easy as that, I retorted, adamant in my decision.
“I see. I hope you don’t regret this decision in the future. A healer is rare, and she might be the only one left in the world right now,” my mother remarked before leaving.
