Chapter 811 The Jia Family
Walker was almost 50 years old but still just at the beginner's phase of the Transformed Period. Even his son could easily surpass him in the future.
But it was already enough for people who practiced martial arts to be able to protect themselves. His fame as the Northeast King could be traced back to the fact that he was controlling the economy of nearly the entire northeastern region.
There was no empty corner where you wouldn't see the sign of Walker, be that from the aspect of resources to daily life, or from that of education to technology.
With the era of the expansion of industrial capital being history, Walker was now in active pursuit of the future for financial capital. Within less than 10 years, he was only one step away to becoming the richest man in Asia with his accumulated assets.
He put his money in stock market and real estate, or anywhere as long as he could make more money with his current capital. He'd try everything.
This was how he built up his own empire from a nobody over the last two to three decades
Even in the northeast, he was a well-deserved "king".
However, despite the high achievements he had made, he remained low-key. He always kept his realm in just the northeast region, never thinking of reaching out his hands into the central area.
Because deep down he was well aware that there would always be someone better than you.
But obviously not everyone agreed with him. Dunker might be just one, but not the only one, of them.
Walker had a younger cousin called Ronan, who was now also in charge of a great amount of assets in the Jia Family. They said the family would bath in the glory of one with an elevated position. In the case of Ronan, he could enjoy a sum of fortune that others could only dream of without being even remotely intelligent.
But his appetite wasn't satisfied.
At the ancestral hall in the Jia's place.
People from the family were about to dismiss after the ancestor worship, when Dunker was caught by this cousin of his father's.
They went to a corner, and Ronan said:
"I heard you left for Yanchin a while ago. Anything you found there?" Dunker gave Ronan a questioning look. He wondered how this man would know so well of his whereabouts. But he still made an honest answer:
"Only a few new friends."
"The sons from the Chen family?"
Dunker was even more surprised now. How could he even know who they were!
"Since you already knew, why ask?"
Ronan laughed.
"I didn't mean to keep an eye on you. It's just that there have been some problems in the communication with your father. But you, on the other hand, have given more thoughts to this whole thing, so I paid a little more attention.”
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well, what I mean is that we should expand the power of our family. Northeast is just an inland area. We won't get a full picture of the world without having a foothold along the coastline.”
Dunker figured out the meaning and said:
"You're indeed a man with vision. Nowadays, if you don't evolve, it's just a matter of time until you get extinct. Just holding on to what you have will sooner or later get you eaten up alive by someone more powerful.” Just when Ronan wanted to respond, someone came close, and Ronan had to hold his horses and said instead:
"I'll talk to you later. And I'd like to introduce some friends to you." These friends that he referred to included the teenager and the young man.
In the biggest box of most sumptuous hotel in this area, raising his glass high up, Ronan was toasting to several people next to him.
"I highly appreciate everyone who showed up here today for me. It's my great pleasure to have you here, and I would like to toast to all of you." Everyone followed him immediately after he finished his glass.
No one here today was of ordinary background. They were all of high values to Ronan. Some of them had high positions in politics, some from prestigious martial art families, some had tremendous clout in economy. Whoever they were, they had absolute decisive power in their own fields.
With only one exception, the young man sitting right next to him, Dunker, the precious son in the family.
Among these people, the teenager and the young man seemed to be of the lowest status, so they were seated the farthest away from Dunker.
However, after a few rounds of toast, Ronan brought Dunker in front of the two brothers in person.
"Dunkie, do you recognize these two gentlemen here?"
Dunker of course had no clue. He shook his head.
Ronan grinned.
"That would be your loss. If you don't know these two outstanding young men from Mount Tian Sect around here, you're missing so much fun in life."
Dunker got suspicious. But since they were introduced by his uncle, he wouldn't dare to take them lightly. So he said in a polite tone:
"My name is Dunker. May I know how I can address you?"
The brothers could easily tell that Dunker was the guy who stepped up at the bar the other day. But since Dunker didn't remember them, they answered
“I'm Andre Nie."
"And Rex Nie."
Dunker greeted them one by one. Ronan started to talk again: "Although you practice martial arts, when it comes to Mount Tian Sect, you probably know very little about it right?"
Dunker replied discreetly:
"Please enlighten me, Uncle. What is the specialty about Mount Tian Sect?"
"The great Kungfu masters alive nowadays are numbered. But just alone for Mount Tian Sect, they already have two of them. This is unprecedented in the world of martial arts. What's more, they not only possess these two great masters, which is already enough to make them the top-notch sect in this field, but they are also in no shortage of excellent disciples. These two young men before you may be much younger than you are, but when it comes to martial arts, they're far above your level."
Hearing such high praise of their own sect, both of the brothers felt really honored. After all, this was the first time for them to hear someone complimenting their sect outside their own yard.
Dunker couldn't help asking:
"What a delightful surprise to know people with such high attainments! If you'll excuse my rudeness, may I know the phase of Transformed Period that you're at?"
It was indeed a bit abrupt, but it also provided an excellent opportunity for Rex to show off a bit. He answered in no time:
"My brother is at the peak of it, while I'm also close to the later stage.” Dunker stared at them with astonishment.
He had a good reason to be at awe. They were both quite young, the elder one being at most at his early twenties while the younger one merely a grown man. But the level of martial practice they were at was much higher than many that had been practicing arduously for years. Some are obviously different than others.
However Dunker was not at all jealous of this pair of God-favored brothers.
He kept the manner of the well-educated son from the Jia Family.
This was in no means because of his good characteristic, but of a possibility that he came across.
"I was so ignorant to not have known such talents in the region. It was such a pity that I didn't get to know you both earlier. If we had known each other earlier, we wouldn't have... well, you know what? Forget it. Today is a wonderful day. Let's skip the frustrating talk."
But what he didn't say out loud got the two brothers really hooked. Andre asked in great curiosity:
"Did you run into some trouble? You look worried."
Dunker waved his hands.
"It's just depressing stuff. No need to mention."
