Chapter Last Breath

Hunger Pains

Andrea awoke lying on her face down the road. This was the third time in the last two days she had passed out for one reason or another. She was alive, somehow. She looked down at the wounds she had and stopped bleeding. She was lying in a pool of her own blood. She had noticed some extra wounds around her hands and feet as if someone had tried to cut them off. She remembers these were bandits; they were trying to get the shackles off; looks like they failed to cut her limbs off; that was a good thing.

"Welcome back to the land of the living, Ka'Azalin. Lesson learned you heal from wounds. The bandits did not have holy weapons, and the damage was not fatal. You will have to learn to accept the pain.

"Be wary when fighting Blooded; these godly remnants can enchant their weapons to cause you damage that will heal slowly. Gods are also known to give weapons to mortals that imbue their power. These artifacts will cause damage that will not heal quickly and are dangerous to gods."

She looked for the weapon Bloodfang, but she could not see it. They must have taken her blade when they looted her body.

"Bloodfang has been taken by the bandits. The weapon is one of the few that can kill you, and you were made with the dagger. I highly recommend you not lose it."

"Where is it?"

"Lesson, artifacts that are bound to you. These have a unique bond."

Andrea's eyes glowed with the grace of Katalina. A wave of nausea ran through her stomach.

Andrea's view shifted to that of the bandits, and they were all in a line working their way back to their camp. The leader, his skin had pale skin, and streaks of gray ran through his hair.

"You can always find the artifact by concentrating. We will retrieve the weapon soon. Besides, I think you may want some retribution for those who wronged you."

She stood up slowly and looked around, and she could see the coach and no bandits. She staggered slowly back to the coach. The pain from the wounds made it difficult to walk. She clutched the stomach wound.

"The bandits fled, leaving the only survivor in the carriage. Time for another lesson. Mercy is only for the weak."

Andrea approached the coach and looked inside. There was a human male inside sitting on one of the coach’s benches, and he was breathing hard already. He had many minor wounds, and the bandits had broken both of his legs. She climbed into the blood-stained coach. The man turned to face her, and his face already paled from the blood loss.

“Help me. Mercy, please.” He weakly said and reached out for her.

Andrea sat down in front of him on the opposite bench, “Looks like we are both in bad shape.”

Andrea looked into the wounded man’s eyes; something inside her made her reach and touch his head. It was something that she wanted to do. No, it was something she had to do. When her hand reached the back of his skull, she grabbed hold, pulled his head forward, and pressed her lips hard to his. Her eyes glowed for just a moment, and the iris changed from blue to a glowing, pulsating fiery red. She felt a strange rush, something from him flowed into her. This rushing sensation made her entire body tingle with pleasure.

He looked right into her eyes, and he was terrified. His hair began to turn white, and his eyes turned gray. Something else was happening to her. Her breathing increased, and her body felt hot as the heart inside her chest pounded.

Her fingernails extended, turning black as her horns. Gripping the back of his head harder, she pushed her lips even tighter against his mouth. Her wings and tail sprouted out of her backside in a wave of pleasure.

Andrea blushed and felt a twisted smile come across her face, this felt good, and she wanted him, all of him. This feeling sent chills up and down her spine. Andrea found herself becoming disturbingly aroused by the sensation.

He gasped for air one more time as his heart stopped beating; he died in her hands.

She knew at that instant his name was Richard, and she felt his last thoughts and emotions flow into her. He was frightened. The last image that Richard would see was Andrea’s fiery red eyes and her twisted smile of pleasure.

Gasping for air, Her eyes changed back to regular blue, the sensation had stopped, and she let go. The sensation was over just as quickly as it had started. She looked back at Richard; his face was twisted in the horror of what looked like an agonizing death. She was shocked that he was dead.

She watched her hand shift back, the razor-sharp nails retracted.

What had just happened? More importantly, we do I only want more.

"You are a demon. What kind of demon do you think you are?"

"I don't know, and I am still hungry."

She picked through the remains of the wagon. All items of value had been taken by, and I bandits.

Now, what do I do? Maybe I should have let them capture me, and I would not have gotten stabbed.

"You would not be hungry, though they would have died trying to rape you. I would not let them defile you. Your touch is mercy."

"You said mercy is for the weak; Richard is dead. I killed him, didn't I?"

"He was on the edge of death, and you granted him a merciful death."

"I won't forget his face or name."

"No, he was your first, and he won't be your last."

Andrea’s stomach continued to tingle even more so after she kissed Richard. She looked down at the stomach wound, healing as she watched.

Andrea’s hunger continued to grow even as her wounds continued to heal.

"All I did was kiss him."

"Is that all that happened?"

“Goddess, I can’t think straight. I am so hungry.”

She felt her mind slipping, leaning on a nearby tree. I should not feel this way. I feel weak and ravished.

"You are not ready yet, and I will have to devise a method to train you. You are like an infant still developing, and you were only born a few days ago.

"You are about to learn what early demon life is like. Remember this lesson and fear it."

"How come you sound like my old mentor, Master Jerilith? He did this same crap. Trial by fire."

"I find this most interesting, and he was my mentor and father figure. We had the same teacher."

"How old is he?"

"Older than me."

Andrea sat down at the base of the apple tree. She could hear something slithering in the back of her mind causing her to have difficulty concentrating; the voice hissed like a snake. Her mind slipped into a fog. I am so hungry.

Blood Bath

Andrea realized that some time had passed, but she did not know how much time had passed. She had a strange taste in her mouth. Things were a bit blurry, and her seeing aspects were gone. She could make out objects close by but harder at a distance. She looked down at her hands. The black razor-clawed fingernails had extended again. Her hands were covered in blood. She still had the ceremonial dress, but the dress was torn and hanging. It was also covered in the stained blood. She felt her teeth with her tongue. She had fangs.

The tail?

Glancing behind her, following the fleshy barbed appendage, it was stuck on something. Horrified, the tail stuck inside a bloody rib cage of some humanoid.

Andrea was in a camp, with bodies torn apart, arms, hands, heads even a few organs pulled out of the bodies. She was so hungry, still. She walked about the wrecked camp, dragging the bloody rib cage behind her.

Andrea had spotted a golden metal dagger, Bloodfang.

Why am I not horrified at the carnage? How did I get here?

She reached out and called for the dagger. Bloodfang responded by leaping into the air and returning to her hand. Her stomach growled; she was still hungry.

She knelt beside a bloody mess of a bandit. His chest punched through, missing his heart. His arm lay nearby, still clutching a bloodied dagger.

Maybe this? I am so hungry.

Slowly she trembled to bring the raw flesh up to her fanged mouth and began to chew. The blood and raw flesh repel her. She immediately spits out the fleshy clump to the ground.

That’s not what I want.

Once again, her mind hazed over into a fog as she felt something slithering around in her mind.

What am I supposed to eat? Katalina? Goddess? Help me… somebody help me.

"Soon, help is coming, and you are not alone child."
