Chapter 146: What’s Done Can’t Be Undone
Killian's POV
My heart was relieved to see the Shadowfang Pack coming, knowing that they were the only ones who could save Astrid's life.
Even though I know that they would take Astrid away from me, I am more concerned about Astrid's health.
With the Shadowfang Pack behind Astrid's Pack, I know Astrid will never need me anymore.
She would be happy with Drystan and her friend Nova. All I just had to do was to avoid her if I really wanted her to be happy.
I watched with trepidation as the members of the Shadowfang Pack who had just arrived came to approach us.
I held Astrid's limp, bleeding form tightly against my chest, fear and anxiety coursing through me.
Yet, despite my wariness, a flicker of relief sparked within me. The Shadowfang Pack were Astrid's people - they were the only ones who could provide the medical care that Astrid needed. They came right in time to save her.
Still, deep inside my heart, below the great relief that I felt with the Shadowfang Pack's presence, I also felt dreadful because I knew that they would take Astrid away from me again, and after this, I wouldn't know when we would meet each other again.
I shouldn't feel like this. This kind of emotion is selfish. I was being selfish. If I really want Astrid to be happy, then it's best that I avoid her and keep her out of my life.
With the Shadowfang Pack behind her back, no one would dare to harm her. With Drystan and her friend Nova, she would be happy and free to do whatever she wants. There's nothing for me to be worried about. All I had to do was keep my distance from her so she would be safe and happy.
If I didn't deliberately come here to meet her, this wouldn't happen. It's clear that all I bring Astrid is pain and harm. Every time we meet, bad things happen to her. "Astrid!" A voice filled the clearing as one of the men in the group broke away and rushed towards us.
I turned tense as I watched the man running towards us. I had never met anyone in the Shadowfang Pack before. I don't even know what Shadowfang Pack's Alpha looks like. Shadowfang Pack is a closed Pack; we don't even have much information about it.
I held Astrid protectively in my arms as I looked at the approaching man warily. However, the stranger fell to his knees beside them, his expression etched with deep concern. "Astrid," the man whispered to Astrid, his eyes were wide with fear and worry.
"What happened?" The man demanded, his gaze flicking between Astrid's pale face and then to her clothes that were wet with blood.
I stared at the man, not knowing who he was. He must be the Shadowfang Pack's Beta sent by their Alpha to manage their relief support.
There was no way that the Alpha of
the Shadowfang Pack, who had always protected his identity and kept it secret, would come all the way here to handle such a menial
task.

I studied his features. He is older than me and has silver hair, highlighting his black hair. I think he is around Drystan's age.
"She got stabbed," I replied, my voice strained. "She needs medical attention quickly."
The man nodded grimly, already reaching to gather Astrid into his arms. I reluctantly relinquished my hold. I watched as the stranger cradled Astrid with utmost care.
His eyes never left Astrid's face as
he moved. It's as if he was afraid
that he would lose her. My heart skipped a beat when I recognized he looked at her. He is more
the
way
than just concerned with Astrid. It's
like he is in love with her.
My eyes widened as I stared at their backs. Could he possibly be Alpha Theron, the Alpha of the Shadowfang Pack?
As if Astrid heard the question in my head, she suddenly stirred in the stranger's arms. Her lids fluttered open, and then she spoke, "Alpha?"
"Sshh!" Alpha Thero whispered closely to her. "I'm here,"
My heart broke in half when I
witnessed their interaction. I felt envious and jealous, even seeing how comfortable Astrid was in Alpha Theron's arms and how much
she trusted him.

I looked away, unable to take it anymore. I was afraid that if I continued looking at them, I might be able to do something that I'd regret.
I guess I did not have to ask any questions anymore. My questions are already answered.
Seeing how the two looked at each other, it's obvious that something is going on between them.
I just didn't expect that Alpha Theron would be as old as Drystan. I was expecting a man around my age, but then it doesn't matter.
Even though Alpha Theron is old, he is still the Alpha of the most powerful Pack in the world. His status makes up for his age.
I just wonder if Astrid likes him back or if she was just using him for his status.
Still, Astrid and I had been together for so many years. I know she's not the type of woman who would date anyone just for their status or their money. However, the two of them are still dating nonetheless.
My assistant, Anya, is right. Astrid had already moved on. I should stop holding onto the past. What's done is done, and it could never be undone.
