Chapter 16: Between Two Worlds
Lyla / Kyle pov. Kyle.
Today was another full moon. This was one of those days I was grateful that I was a hybrid. Transformation during full moon for werewolves was excruciatingly painful.
As a hybrid, I had complete control over my transformation. I learned of this gift when I was younger. I didn't have to transform if I saw fit.
Another thing I discovered was that I could transform any time I desired and it was pain free.
I swore to myself after last night that I wouldn't let anything my dad said get to me. Being a hybrid wasn't a curse, I believed it to be a blessing.
I mean, look at me now. I didn't have to go through what everyone in the pack would go through by full moon tonight.
No one was like me. Well... Except for someone else. Lyla. She wasn't a hybrid but I always felt she was strong anytime I was close to her. Mostly during her trainings. She would also be turning today. How could that sleep my mind. Everyone here had each other. Someone who would guide the new wolves.
Lyla was in trouble. She was surrounded by humans. She could kill them. When she turned, she would definitely not be in her right sense.
I don't know how something that important could skip my mind. It was almost time.
The moon was out, all shiny and bright. But it wasn't full yet.
She wouldn't be able to able to do this alone. Transformations were also extremely slow. It took more than three hours for full wolf form. She needed me. Just as her trainer though. Nothing else. I skipped training yesterday so I needed to make it up to her.
I heard the door pushed open. "Get the hell up!"Oliver said.
"What the hell do you want Oliver? "I asked.
He played a role in what transpired yesterday and I wasn't ready to talk to anyone.
"We're going to have a drink. Now, get up your empty butt and get ready."He demanded.
"Oliver, not in the mood. I need to be somewhere."I stated.
"What could be more important than your best friend, Kyle?"Oliver complained.
"Alot of things. Now get out. "I said.
Oliver knew how I always have been. He knew I wasn't who people would call nice but he tolerated my shit.
"Is this about yesterday? I'm really sorry. I knew you needed your space yesterday. That's why I didn't go into your room. I'm sorry, Kyle." He apologized.
"It has nothing to do with yesterday. Well... It does but it's not your fault."
I told him.
"Is that really how your dad is? How come you never mentioned it? "he questioned.
"Because I didn't want to. Olive, I'm not discussing this with you. I told you I had somewhere to be. Now, get the hell out of my room. "I responded. "But... "he tried arguing.
"Oliver! Please later. Besides why do you want to have a drink when you're gonna turn today. "I questioned.
"Does it really matter? It's not like I can be a drunk wolf." he muttered.
"Okay, Ollie. I gotta go. Since you don't wanna leave, I'll go. When you're done, leave."I said and turned to leave.
I stopped when I remembered something
"Oliver? "I called.
"Yeah? "he answered.
"if you by any chance turn in here and mess up my room. I'll find you and kill."I said and left without waiting for his response.
He knew I couldn't kill him but he knew better than messing up my room.
Lyla pov
Ten minutes till midnight. This wasn't my first time turning but I didn't know why I was nervous.
The first time I turned after my five years coma, I was weak and I wasn't really after anyone. But I can't say the same for today.
After all my training, my powers were heightened. And I was aware of my surroundings.
Where was Kyle when you needed him. He wasn't there for training yesterday and he didn't even bother calling.
I was at the bayou since it was kind of far from the territory. I told Aria to watch everyone and be extra vigilant since I wasn't sure I could control myself.
I took a deep breath, and braced myself for the pain that was few minutes away. If only the witches made it so my transformation would be easy.
I guess they didn't want to attract attention. A wolf girl who wasn't a hybrid could transform without pain.
The first crack came from my spine, it sounded like a pop. "Ahhhh!!! "I let out a scream.
My hands formed fist, my eyes clogged author's tears. I panted really heavily. I felt my spine changing it's posture into that of a wolf.
"Lyla!"I heard someone say. I lifted my head as drops of tears rolled down my eyes.
I never expected him to come
"Kyle."Before I could say anything else, my fingers cracked.
One by one, I felt my phalanges shift forward forcing claws to move out slowly. "Ahhh.. Ghhh"I cried out.
Kyle ran to me. "It's okay. It's gonna e fine. You're almost there. You're doing well and it's a compliment. "he encouraged.
I looked at him. "Not... The... Time for compliments. "I stated.
I knew he was trying to help but the pain I was going through was crazy.
I watched my hands formed paws with every passing second. The pain I was going through was excruciating. I could feel every bone I had in body dislocating and forming new positions.
My thigh snapped causing the pants I had on to rip apart. My scream echoed throughout the bayou and my legs reshaped itself. It seemed backwards.
My toes merged to push out claws. My hands, no my paws pressed the floor down. I needed something to retaliate on and the floor was the best.
My jaw dislocation began. Sharpened fangs plugged out and my ears stretched upward and formed pointed tips.
After my ears transformed, I began to hear the sound of leaves moving. I stared at Kyle and I heard his heart beating.
I was finally changed. All my senses were sharp and I could smell the soil beneath me. I stood on my four paws panting heavily.
I pain began to subside. I could hear anything, feel anything and smell anything from the longest distance. My senses were very sharpened.
I lifted my head to the sky and let out a long howl. I heard other wolves howling too.
I felt like a wolf of the Moonlit pack again
