Chapter 56 Leave Me to Die
"Hah. You're so keen to die just so that Howard would have his role back?"
Gilbert sneered while walking toward Kisa.
Just as she was about to respond, he spoke again.
"Let me tell you something: even if you actually die, I still won't give him the role."
Hearing this, Kisa gave up on explaining to him.
'He's so awful; he never keeps his words,' she thought.
In a fit of rage, Gilbert barged over and knocked Kisa back.
"If you want to die, go ahead. Just stop giving me any more trouble."
"I'm giving you trouble?" Kisa slammed the door angrily.
"Ask yourself this: who's the one causing trouble here at Athadale?" she continued shouting.
"You!" Gilbert retorted.
"Me?" Kisa asked.
"If you hadn't followed me to Athadale for Howard, we wouldn't have been spotted by Anthony. I also wouldn't be held back right now for trying to protect you. You're a burden."
"Me... A burden?" Kisa was furious.
"I wasn't following you! I was spotted by Anthony because of you! What's more, I don't need your protection. Do you think I like to be in hiding? I'll leave this very moment." The frustration and anger within Kisa started to bubble up, making her tremble.
Then, she stormed out without a care in the world.
Behind her, Gilbert sneered coldly at her.
"If you really want to die, you can just jump. Stop using Anthony to threaten me."
Kisa laughed sardonically.
"You wish for my death, right? If Anthony does catch me and threatens you with my life, you don't need to save me just leave me to die."
"Hah! Do you think I'd care about you if it weren't for Ada and Andrew?"
Hearing this, Kisa froze. She did not know if she felt wronged or resentful, but tears started to well up in her eyes.
'I'm in this mess because of Gilbert, but he's making it sound like I'm the one causing all the problems. How ludicrous of him! Whatever I do is disgusting to him,' she thought. When Gilbert saw her teary eyes, he felt a sense of frustration pile up in his chest.
He flung a shopping bag at her before setting the food he had brought for her on the table.
"Put these on and come eat," he instructed.
'Gilbert's always ordering me around; he's never given me an ounce of kindness. Other than... Other than the night he set me up. He probably mistook me for Sara anyway,' Kisa thought. Within the shopping bag were a pair of espadrilles and cotton socks.
Just as Kisa stretched out her bruised feet and prepared to put on the shoes, Gilbert suddenly spoke.
"Come here!"
Kisa paused before peering at him confusedly.
'Didn't he ask me to put these shoes on? Why is he asking me to go over to him now? He's so fickled-minded,' she thought.
"I said, come here," Gilbert said impatiently.
Kisa had no choice but to walk over to him.
Gilbert frowned at the sight of her bruised feet, "You didn't use the ointment I gave you?"
Kisa shook her head. She forgot.
Gilbert lifted her foot before retrieving a bottle of ointment from his pocket.
"Are you parading your bruised feet in front of me to get me to pity you?" he sneered at her.
Kisa felt irritated by his words, so she retracted her foot in annoyance.
Meanwhile, Gilbert gripped her legs roughly, "Give it a rest. I won't feel sorry for you even if you lose your feet."
Kisa bit down on her lip.
'He's the most offensive and provoking person ever. However, he doesn't speak to Sara and Sharon this way, only me,' she thought.
She felt wronged and frustrated, but she held her tears back stubbornly.
Just as Gilbert finished rubbing ointment on Kisa's legs, his phone rang.
He picked up the phone, and his expression changed.
