Chapter 14
Chapter 14 I Am A Scheming Woman
She looked up at him.
At that moment, Matthew’s crisp white shirt was neatly tucked into his tailored trousers, showcasing his imposing stature and straight long legs.
The aura of nobility radiating from within him was accentuated by the twilight.
Aurelia blinked. She had to admit that Matthew was truly handsome.
He was even more handsome than her favorite movie star.
Everyone enjoyed admiring beautiful things, and she was no exception.
“Grandma has woken up. Let’s go have dinner together,” Matthew said to Aurelia.
Seeing her gaze fixed on his face, her eyes mirroring the look of many women who had ogled at him before, he couldn’t help but let his expression darken.
Could it be that she has planned with Grandma to give me a head massage? Is she hoping that I would inadvertently discover how wonderful she is?
When he found out that his grandmother wanted him to marry her, he realized that she was a woman with an agenda.
Aurelia stood up. “Alright, I’ve just picked some grapes and strawberries.”
She had tasted them when she picked them earlier. They were very sweet, much tastier than those she had bought from the supermarket.
The housekeepers told her that the weather that year was good. It had ample sunlight, hence the sweeter fruits compared to past years.
When Matthew realized that Aurelia was not an innocent woman, his attitude became much colder, responding only with a nonchalant hum.
Aurelia didn’t mind, nor did she overthink it.
Upon seeing that Mabel had already woken up, Aurelia walked over carrying grapes and. strawberries.
“Did you pick these yourself?” Mabel asked with a smile.
Upon learning from Evelyn that Matthew, who had always suffered from some sleep disorders, had fallen asleep under Aurelia’s massage, Mable felt that Matthew would soon come to appreciate Aurelia.
Aurelia treated people with sincerity. More than a decade ago, when she was just a little girl,
nah had told Mabel that Aurelia was kind–hearted in nature. Seeing how lonely Hannah was, Aurelia would often keep her company.

“I did. I used to grow grapes and strawberries when I lived in the countryside. However, they were never sweet enough after ripening and would even taste astringent. Now I realize it was due to the seeds and lack of sunlight. The place I chose to plant them didn’t get much light. Grandma, I’ll wash these first.” When Aurelia was with Mabel, they always had a lot to talk about.
go
It was likely because Mabel and Hannah truly loved her from the bottom of their hearts.
“Haha, I remember Hannah telling me that you loved going to the fields when you were little and that you knew how to farm at a young age.” Mabel seemed to envision that scene.
The sight of a little girl working the fields like an adult was both endearing and heart–wrenching.
Hannah told her that Aurelia had been sensible since she was a child. Her going to the fields was to help her foster mother and share the burden of farm work with her brothers.”
Watching the two engrossed in their conversation as if no one was around, Matthew wrinkled his brow slightly.
The strange feeling he had experienced before crept back into his heart.
Aurelia is innocent and beautiful, yet she seems to always have an agenda. She is pretending to ignore me now, but she was staring at me earlier in the vineyard
After having their meal, Mabel, with a beaming smile, gently ushered Aurelia and Matthew back to their rooms to rest.
“With both of you keeping me company here, I’m sure my health will improve quickly, but it’s getting late now. You two should return to your room to spend some time together as husband and wife. Get some rest as soon as possible.”
Aurelia and Matthew could only return to their room.
Upon seeing the large “Just Married” words pasted on the doors and windows of the room, Aurelia was dumbfounded.
Without a doubt, it must have been Mabel who had them posted, making for a festive sight.
Nevertheless, it just wasn’t suitable for her and Matthew,
She looked at Matthew. “Who should take the shower first?”
Aurelia had been busy all day restoring the ancient painting, not even taking a break at noon. Now that things had settled down, she began to feel tired.
With a slightly cold gaze, Matthew looked at Aurelia. “Have you forgotten what I just said? We don’t love each other. We’re only acting.”
“Mr. Quigley, have you overthought things? Don’t you bathe before bed? We might be acting, but I can’t accept you not allowing me to bathe before sleep,” Aurelia retorted.
For a moment, Matthew was at a loss for words.

Aurelia went to the wardrobe to look for clothes. Evelyn had mentioned that she had already prepared some clothes for both her and Matthew, so it didn’t really matter if they didn’t retrieve their clothes from Starry Sea Mansion.
The wardrobe was filled with every type of clothing imaginable.
Evelyn was very meticulous and had everything prepared.
Aurelia chose a nightgown.
“I’ll shower first. Don’t worry. I’ll be quick.”
Soon, Matthew heard the sound of a running shower coming from the bathroom.
No woman had ever bathed in front of him before. This was the first time.
Listening to the somewhat grating sound of water, Matthew narrowed his eyes and pushed the door open to step out.
As soon as the door opened, he ran into Evelyn.
In Evelyn’s hand was a drink. “This is a vitamin drink that Old Mrs. Quigley asked me to hand over to you. She said it would be good for your health.”
“A vitamin drink?” Matthew frowned slightly, feeling utterly helpless.
Has Grandma been binge–watching too many shows recently? What tricks did she learn to have Evelyn deliver this to me?
“Give it to me first. I’ll drink it slowly inside.” Matthew took the vitamin drink from Evelyn’s hand, then shut the door with a bang.
When he returned to the room, the sound of water from the bathroom once again reached his.
ears.
Matthew’s expression turned grim.
Looking at the vitamin drink before him, he suddenly regretted inviting Aurelia into the room.
His head began to throb faintly again.
He rubbed his forehead, suddenly recalling the moment before dinner when Aurelia’s gentle hands had massaged his head. Each time she rubbed his acupoints, it brought him considerable
comfort.
At that moment, a WhatsApp message arrived on the phone.
He checked his phone.
Gordon: Mr. Quigley, may I add Ms. Shaw on WhatsApp?

Feeling somewhat uneasy, he asked again: Why are you doing this? Are you interested in her?
Gordon stared at the two consecutive WhatsApp messages that had come in, his eyes wide.
Me, interested in Ms. Shaw? I wouldn’t dare!
Even if he knew that Ms. Shaw and Aurelia were in a sham marriage, he still wouldn’t dare to harbor feelings for his boss‘ wife in name.
Gordon typed rapidly: Absolutely not!!! I just want Ms. Shaw to help me take a look at a jade pendant I’ve taken a liking to, but I’m not sure if it’s good. Only after Ms. Shaw has seen it, would I dare to buy it.
hoped that the boss would notice his three emphatic exclamation marks.
Matthew responded: Okay.
Having received permission from Matthew, Gordon immediately added Aurelia on WhatsApp by searching for her number on his mobile phone.
He waited for ten minutes.
Seeing that his request wasn’t approved, Gordon hesitated before sending another message to Matthew: Mr. Quigley, Ms. Shaw has not accepted my request to add her.
After a short while, Gordon saw a reply from his boss: She’s taking a bath.
Although it was just a short reply, Gordon was shocked.
Could it be that the boss and Ms. Shaw are sleeping together with each other? Wasn’t it a sham marriage? Did they sleep with each other just like that? Ms. Shaw surely won’t have the time or the opportunity to accept my request tonight, right? The boss usually works out, boasting a physique complete with eight–pack abs and a well–defined Apollo’s belt. His physical strength is unquestionably impressive. Therefore…
Before he went to sleep, he asked someone to send him some photos of various jade pendants. He would select a couple for Aurelia to help him examine the next day.
Twenty minutes later, a notification for the request popped up. Gordon rubbed his eyes.
Is this a mistake?
