Chapter 68
Chapter 68 Keep Humble
At night, the Dutt's house was brightly lit and guests arrived one after another.
Anaya, dressed in a white dress, looked noble and elegant. She stood beside Adams and greeted
the guests who came and forth.
Today, many of Adams' old friends came over one by one to greet Adams. Occasionally, they would talk to Anaya, and Anaya only responded politely and wouldn't say too much.
Previously, when Joshua withdrew his investment, Anaya had come to these people.
Anaya could understand their difficulties, but it did not mean that she was willing to be close to
them.
There were some connections that only needed to be maintained on the surface.
It was not worth it to be too intimate,
When the Tarleton family entered, Anaya noticed that Yarden was also with them.
Catherine and David exchanged greetings with Adams, and the juniors gathered together.
"Why are you here with Aracely?" Anaya asked Yarden.
Aracely and Yarden had nothing to do with each other, and Anaya really couldn't figure out how
they got so close
Yarden grinned. He was full of youthful vigor. "Of course, we agreed on it."
Aracely explained, "That time when you went on a trending topic, I united with him and fought with a lot of righteous' haters on the Internet. Then I found that we were quite compatible and often hung out together."
Aracely raised her hand to put it on Yarden's shoulder and Winston quietly came up and stood
between them.
Aracely mistakenly put her hand on Winston's shoulder, but she did not think too much about it She took the opportunity to hold Winston's hand and found a comfortable position. She lazily leaned on Winston Aracely was so comfortable that she narrowed her eyes and continued to say to Anaya. "He was reported and had more than 30 accounts banned that day. Even a few more than me." Anaya could not help but laugh.
She thought that Aracely and Yarden were quite persistent
Anaya looked behind Yarden. Kim did not seem to come with them. "Where is Mr. Simpson?"
Yarden said, "My uncle has work to do. He has to go back to Canada first."
"When are you leaving?"
"I shall wait until the start of the semester. There's still more than half a month left."
The three of them chatted for a while, and someone came in from the door.
Anaya raised her head and looked over.
They were Joshua and Robin.
The preparations for the birthday banquet were all done by Frank, and Anaya only glanced at the guest list roughly.
She did not expect that Frank would actually invite Joshua.
Adams had always disliked Joshua. When he saw Joshua, he stopped smiling and asked Frank, "Why did you invite Joshua?"
'Although Anaya has already divorced Mr. Maltz, we still have to show some basic etiquette. I just sent an invitation letter to the Maltz family out of politeness. I didn't expect that he would really come..." Although he said that, Frank in fact wanted to watch a show.
Adams frowned slightly, not blaming Frank.
Joshua came over to greet Adams.
"Mr. Dutt, I heard that you were discharged from the hospital, so I especially came to visit you. I prepared a small gift for you. It is a token of my respect."
He handed over a flat gift box. No one knew what was inside.
Judging from the size, Anaya remembered the "compensation" Joshua had given her a few nights ago
Was Joshua trying to give it to her in a different way because he couldn't get her directly?
In front of everyone, Anaya didn't want to embarrass Joshua, so she didn't say anything. She planned to wait for all the guests to leave before letting Adams return the gift.
As she was thinking, she heard Adams say, "I can't bear to accept the Maltz family's gift. Mr. Maltz,
you should take it back
Adams was traditional and old-fashioned.
But if it was related to his granddaughter, he wouldn't care about so much courtesy, integrity, and
shame. All of them should get lost.
He only wanted Anaya to be comfortable.
Joshua used to bully Anaya, so Adams would never get along well with him.
Joshua did not expect that Adams would embarrass him in front of so many people. He looked quite awkward. He approached Adams and whispered, "Mr. Dutt, today is your birthday, and it is a festive day. Do you have to say such unpleasant words?"
Adams snorted and lowered his voice, "It was indeed quite festive, but now that you're here, it
won't be festive anymore."
Joshua's expression darkened even more.
Adams continued to say, "Mr. Maltz, since you're already here, it's not good for me to chase you out, but please stay away from Anaya and me. Don't talk to us. I'm afraid that I won't be able to hold it in and really throw you out."
Joshua had never been good-tempered. He was first rejected by Anaya, and now he was treated like this by Adams. The anger in his heart immediately rose.
Joshua thought, do they really think that I can't do anything to them?
How dare they both say things like that to me?
I have already condescended to lower my head, but they actually did not accept it!
Although I have done something wrong, Anaya has also separated me and Lexie for a whole year. We're even now. I don't owe her anything at all!
Joshua walked away with a sullen face, and Robin chased after him. "Joshua, what did you say to Mr. Dutt? You haven't sent this out yet..."
Joshua threw the gift box containing the property ownership certificate and contract to Robin, “He and Anaya are both unwilling to take it, so why should I keep humble?" Robin was the one who came up with the idea to send the gift.
He did not expect that Adams would not even accept the birthday gift.
Robin said, "It's normal for Mr. Dutt to be angry because Lexie has done something so excessive.
You did the wrong thing first. What are you angry about?"
Adams' precious granddaughter was bullied. If it were him, Robin would have killed Lexie and
Joshua
Joshua argued almost reflexively, "What did I do wrong?"
In his heart, Joshua knew clearly that he had wronged Anaya before.
But he could not control his mouth.
As soon as the matter of Anaya was involved, Joshua could not calm down.
Robin was too lazy to argue with Joshua and changed the topic. "Have you been in contact with Lexie recently?"
Joshua replied somewhat irritably, "No, I haven't contacted her yet."
After such a big incident, he still somewhat minded it in his heart, not knowing how to face Lexie.
He couldn't bear to lose Lexie.
But if he had to get back together with her, the grudge in his heart would still remain.
Robin saw through Joshua's hesitation and sighed. "I really don't understand you. If you like Lexie, just be together. If you don't like Lexie, you should break up with her. But you can't even make up your mind. No wonder Anaya doesn't like you anymore."
Joshua glared at him and didn't respond.
Robin stuffed the gift box back into Joshua's arms, "Forget it. You may think about it yourself. I'll go find Anaya and ask about something."
"What's the matter?"
"Bryant asked me to ask her about the whereabouts of a woman. The woman came out of Anaya's
house a while ago, I think Anaya should know her."
"Shiloh?
"He didn't say who it was, but I think it was most likely her."
After all, there was only one woman who could make Bryant so concerned.
Robin tumed around and walked over to Anaya. "Anaya, I have something to say to you."
Among Joshua's friends, only Robin was kind to Anaya and occasionally they would talk
Robin treated Anaya well, so she naturally wouldn't embarrass him.
What do you want to say?" Anaya followed Robin to the side.
Robin asked, "Do you know a woman?"
"1 know a lot of women."
Robin was speechless.
