Chapter 61
"Mrs. Maltz and Ms. Aucher are having breakfast in the dining room."
Joshua went back to his room to wash up before heading to the dining room
In the dining room, Cecilia and Bria seemed to be talking about something interesting as they
covered their mouths and laughed.
Seeing Joshua enter, Cecilia put down the freshly squeezed juice and asked casually. "Where did you go last night?"
Joshua pulled out a chair and sat down. The maid standing at the side served him food.
"I had something urgent to do at work. I slept in the company."
Cecilia felt a little strange but did not ask further and continued the topic with Bria.
Joshua did not touch the breakfast in front of him. He called out to Cecilia, "Mom."
"Yes?" Cecilia looked at him.
"It's nothing." Joshua looked at Bria but hesitated.
Cecilia noticed Joshua's unusual behavior. After breakfast, she sent Bria off on an excuse and sat
on the living room sofa. "Tell me, what's up?"
I'm getting engaged to Lexie," Joshua said as he sat down opposite Cecilia.
This was his decision after sleeping on it.
Too many things had happened in the month after Joshua divorced Anaya, and he had gone out of
control more than once because of that woman. Joshua attributed all of the abnormal actions to
his possessiveness of Anaya.
Joshua thought that as soon as he settled down with Lexie, he might be able to go through this phase
After Lezie filled his life, Joshua would no longer think about anything else.
He and Lezie would get married, which was just a matter of time, so there was no harm in getting engaged earlier.
Hearing this, Cecilia was shocked. She said with a displeased expression, "I don't agree. The Dunbar family is just a humble family in Boston. What's more, Lexie is an illegitimate daughter. How can she be married into our family?
Joshua had already expected Cecilia's reaction. He calmly said, "Mom, I'm here to tell you my decision, not to discuss it with you."
"What's with your attitude?" Cecilia reprimanded in a low voice, "When you divorced Anaya, you also didn't even ask for my opinion. Do you still think of me as your mother?"
"No matter who I marry, you will always be my mother."
Both Cecilia and Joshua were stubborn. Cecilia had a different opinion. Even if they sat down calmly to negotiate, it would be difficult for them to reach an agreement.
In that case, Joshua would not talk about it.
"I don't think you regard me as your mother at all! If you cared about me, why would you humiliate me over and over again?" Cecilia snapped.
There are so many girls in Boston who come of wealth and are ready to get married. Any one of
