Chapter 87
As the explosions were concussing above us, I sat quietly watching Colby pace around.
“What’s happening?” he asked.
“I really have no idea, but it’s kind of obvious isn’t it.”
“Yes. Are you worried?” he asked nervously.
“Worried about what?”
“Well about your friends for one thing. And the possible loss of life all because of you?”
“Yes. Of course. This is not what I had planned for this weekend.”
“How can you make fun…”
“Colby. This is out of my hands. Don’t you see that Mooney is doing this? He’s doing this,” I stressed the point. “He had these guys take over a town full of innocent people and turn it into a fake Guantanamo just to get me because I’m a threat to his made up dreamland. He’s gotta go. And you know it.”
“I know, I know, I’m sorry. I guess I just had trouble believing he could go this far.” Colby was shaken. Up until that point he had hung on to a small possibility that this whole mess would somehow fix itself. But now he knew. He was torn out of his thoughts by a loud crunch. Colby followed the source of that sound and saw a fist the size of a large melon appear where the upper door panel had been. The fist then opened up, grabbed the door and pulled. The entire door just wrenched out of its hinges and two faces peered in.
“Hi Robert, Mr. Colby, nice to see you again,” said William quietly.
“Hi guys,” I responded.
“Want to go for a ride?” asked Dutch with a smile.
“Sure,” I said as I got up. “Mr. Colby? Join us?
I pointed to Colby who took all this quite serenely I thought. He took a big shaky breath and stepped up.
“Yes. I think it’s best I go with you after all.”
“The more the merrier. Let’s go,” said Dutch. And they walked out passed the guard who was now in a deep sleep.
