Rebirth of the Wife in Despair by Tess Munoz

Chapter 289

Chapter 289 Not Bad
Enduring her aching body, Eileen went to the bathroom to take a shower. The warm water cascaded down. from her head,
neither cold nor hot. She closed her eyes but still felt something was off. She reached down to touch the sensitive area below,
finding no signs of swelling. The pain had also significantly subsided.
In truth, there was a red mark on the inside of her thigh, a place she couldn’t see. It was hidden so well that Eileen didn’t notice
it.
Could it be that I’m overthinking things?
Nothing happened last night, and even if something did, it was just me having another drunken spree.
Otherwise, why would I destroy such beautiful roses?
She recalled that she had indeed seen news about people who, after getting drunk, truly knew nothing at
all.
Eileen swiftly brushed off these unnecessary worries. Half an hour later, she exited the bathroom, wrapped in a bath towel.
If she were to glance back at this moment, she would see, reflected in the mirror, her slender back also bearing marks.
After changing her clothes, Eileen called Jasper.
The phone was answered after half a minute. “Jasper, how is Grandma doing?”
“Ms. Eileen!” The person answering the phone was Fabian.
“Mr. Sherwood?”
“It’s me. Mr. Smith has some urgent business to attend to and might not be able to accompany you to Pillere. I’ve already
arranged for the hotel’s driver to take you to the airport. Mr. Smith has made arrangements in Pillere, so there will be someone to
pick you up when you land. We’ll meet you there in a week. Mr. Smith is in a meeting, and he asked me to apologize on his
behalf.”

“It’s okay. The company matters are much more important. How is Grandma doing?” Eileen was indeed a bit disappointed. This
was her first time leaving Hulbury to go to an unfamiliar place. She had never been to such a far place before, and it would be a
lie to say she wasn’t nervous or scared.
“Ms. Eileen, rest assured, Old Mrs. Smith is fine.”
“I’m relieved to hear that Grandma is okay. Please return to your work. I need to get going now.”
“Have a safe journey, Ms. Eileen.”
“Thanks”
After hanging up the phone, Fabian looked up. “Rest assured, Mr. Smith, Ms. Eileen will be fine on her own. The bodyguards will
also ensure her safety around the clock.”
“Mm-hmm.”
As the saying goes, man proposes, God disposes?

In the end, Mr. Smith couldn’t escape Nancy’s grasp.
Fortunately, Ms. Eileen’s departure will give Mr. Smith time to resolve the issue.
If Ms. Eileen were to find out, the consequences would truly be unthinkable.
This matter is no longer as simple as it was at the beginning.
A week’s time should be enough to sort out these troubles.
I just wonder if Ms. Eileen will accept the existence of this child.
The flight to Pillere took off punctually at twelve o’clock.
Outside the airport, a car was parked in an open space.
The airplane roared as it flew overhead, leaving behind a Blake trail.

“It seems like you lost this bet, but it also feels like you’re the winner. Congratulations! You finally got your little sister in your
grasp.”
With Zachary’s playful tease, the man sitting in the driver’s seat, for once, didn’t show any signs of anger on his face. Instead, his
aura was even more gentle than usual.
Beasts that have had their fill of meat lose their aggressiveness.
Eric stated, “The game has just begun.”
“Isn’t the Swan family enough for you? You want the Smith family too?” Zachary squinted his eyes at him. “Eric, I think you’ve
truly gone mad. Don’t you think you’re overestimating your abilities and trying to attempt the impossible?”
Eric watched as the plane ascended into the blue sky, disappearing into the clouds before he finally shifted his gaze. With a faint
smile on his thin lips, he asked, “Are you so eager to see me slip up?”
Zachary clicked his tongue. “It’s truly terrifying to be on the mind of a freak like you. I must say Eileen is really unlucky. A
perfectly good life was ruined because of you, all for knowing someone like you. Are you messing with Jasper because you’re
still holding a grudge? Because Jasper wanted to buy shares in Caerulus Corporation and dismiss you from your position?”
Seeing that Eric didn’t respond, Zachary took it as his silent agreement.
Rather than being adversaries with such cunning people, Zachary actually felt somewhat relieved he was on the same side as
Eric.
Eric was too scheming and sly, and Zachary was afraid that when the time came, he might just become another pawn in the
former’s plots.
He admitted that when it came to plotting, he was inferior to Eric.
After that, he reached a hand out toward Eric. “Shouldn’t you return the remaining drug to me? I spent quite a bit of money to
develop it. Currently, there’s only this one bottle of fifty milliliters. I didn’t even dare to use it myself.”
Eric stepped on the gas, making a U-turn to leave. “The drug is good. Remember it for next time.”

“I’ll remember this, Eric! Don’t let me catch you slipping.
That drug had an aphrodisiac and hallucinogenic effect. Once used, it would cause one to forget the events of the previous night.
Previously, when Eric took it without permission, Zachary already knew he was up to no good.
Zachary looked out the car window, a mysterious smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Just as Eric said, their game had only just begun.
Eileen was exhilarated and thrilled. It was her first time on a plane, leaving her homeland to venture into an unfamiliar place.
Looking out the airplane window, everything below seemed so insignificant.
Before boarding the plane, she had called Gideon, who then sent her the hotel address.
Natalie and Benjamin had also sent her messages, which Eileen responded to one by one.
The flight from Hulbury to Pillere departed at twelve o’clock and would take nine hours.
It was already past nine in the evening when the plane landed.
The person who came to pick up Eileen was a local from Pillere, a woman in her forties with blonde hair and blue eyes who
could speak Clusian. She introduced herself as Ariel, the butler of Baston Hotel.
They got into the car and headed towards the hotel. Eileen’s Uprian was quite good, enough for casual conversation. She had
prepared herself before coming.
Eileen had looked up the price of the hotel online. It was nearly five thousand Clusian currency per night for a luxurious suite.
Eileen tried to dissuade, “How much money would it cost to stay here for three months?” She didn’t dare to think about it.
Upon arriving at the hotel entrance, the place was as luxurious as a castle.
Eileen stepped out of the car. A young woman dressed in black, wearing black-rimmed glasses and with a high ponytail
approached. Her face was freckled, and she wore a somewhat serious expression as she adjusted her glasses. “Hello, my name
is Delilah Mason. I’m a student of Professor Combs, and I’m here to participate in this training,” she said..
She extended her hand, and Eileen shook it. “Hello, I’m Eileen Swan, a freshman for the next term.”

“I’ve heard about you. Your painting is still displayed in Professor Combs’ office. I didn’t expect someone as young as you to
have such remarkable talent. He was certainly right about you.”
Eileen gavé a slight smile. “Thank you.”
“When we arranged your arrival, we booked a room for you. It might be a bit inconvenient, but you’ll have to share a room with
me for the next three months.”
