Chapter 284
Chapter 284 Has The Engagement Ceremony Ended.
The Smith family didn’t have many relatives in attendance.
John’s absence remained a mystery known only to the Smith family.
However, no one mentioned it. Everyone in their social circle remembered the scandal when Jacqueline divorced John years
ago. No one dared to gossip about the affairs of Hulbury’s most prestigious family.
John also had two brothers and a sister.
They rarely made public appearances as they managed the Smith Corporation’s subsidiaries, so Eileen. rarely had the chance to
see them.
Eileen greeted each person according to their seniority, receiving several monetary gifts in the process. With a thick stack in
hand, she handed them over to the attendant by her side.
She received a monetary gift that contained enough money to cover the down payment for a flat in the heart of Hulbury.
When it came to material possessions, Jasper was never stingy. Eileen even knew the combination of the safe in Jasper’s room.
Inside, apart from gold bars, there was cash they used for their leisurely outings.
Eric leaned in close to Vera, whispering something in her ear that couldn’t be heard. She set down her wine glass, and Eric
handed her a new one, pouring her a glass of non-alcoholic fruit juice.
The atmosphere seemed peaceful, but underneath the surface, it was tumultuous. Will narrowed his eyes. his smile insincere.
“From now on, I’ll leave Eileen in your care. She’s never suffered much since she was little. She’s the one I cherish the most. If
she’s spoiled and willful, I hope you can be patient with her. She’s young and doesn’t understand things yet.”
Jasper had slicked his hair back, donning a black suit that made him look dashing and handsome. The scar on his neck, a
remnant from a removed tattoo, was concealed by Eileen with foundation. From a distance, it was completely unnoticeable.
Normally, a makeup artist would handle this, but Jasper refused to let anyone else touch him, so she had to do it.
Jasper looked at Eileen with deep affection. “Eileen will be my wife from now on. No matter what she does, I will, of course,
pamper her. It’s only right for her to be willful at this age.”
Vera walked over, holding a wine glass in both hands, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth. “Congratulations, Eileen. You
look truly beautiful today. Here’s to your future filled with happiness and joy. Eric and I will always be your family. Make sure to
visit home often when you have the time. Eric and I will always be delighted to see you.”
Eileen clinked her wine glass with Vera’s. “I will.”
Eric, dressed in a suit, walked over to Vera, exuding a calm and restrained demeanor. He put his arm around her shoulder and
said, “I didn’t realize how quickly Eileen has grown up. If you ever feel mistreated in the future, I will always stand by your side.”
With a charming smile, Jasper stepped forward, positioning himself in front of her. “From now on, Eileen is a part of the Smith
family. If anyone dares to bully her, I won’t let them off easily. There’s no need for you to worry about this, Mr. Snow.”
Eric’s lips curled up slightly as he remained silent.

A waiter approached and whispered something mto Eileen’s ear
Eileen nodded, her gaze apologetic as she looked at them. “I have an important call to take. I’ll be right
back”
“Go ahead” Jasper said.
Eileen took the phone from the waiter and walked out to the quiet garden. The entire hotel was decorated in festive colors for the
engagement banquet, with balloons tied to a wooden chair.
Eileen pressed the answer button. “Hello?”
“It’s me.”
Eileen recognized Yvette’s voice. “Is there something you need?”
“Has the engagement ceremony ended? I have a favor to ask of you. For the first time, the usually proud Yvette spoke humbly.
“Eileen, my mother wants to attend the engagement banquet. You know my brother’s temper. If we just show up like this, he will
definitely be very angry, and his dislike for my mom will only increase. So, I want to ask you a favor. Could you arrange for my
mom to meet with you guys. today? Her greatest wish in life is to see my brother get married and have children. Will you help me
with
this
*L..“ Eileen hesitated. The Friedman family was a territory that Jasper could not touch.
“Eileen, don’t you want my mom and brother to reconcile? Given our relationship, you should also start calling her Mom. We’re
all family, aren’t we? So... right now, you’re the only one who can persuade Jasper. You must help us with this matter. Neither
Mom nor I will let you down.”
After a long silence, Eileen slowly began to speak. “Yvette... this matter isn’t as simple as you think. I will discuss Mrs.
Friedman’s situation with Jasper later, but I can’t guarantee whether he will agree or not.”
“Eileen! Do you have any idea how much my mom wishes to mend her relationship with Jasper? Or is it that you simply don’t
want to help us at all?” Yvette barely contained her anger.
Eileen furrowed her beautiful brows. “Yvette, you really have no idea what’s going on. If Mrs. Friedman wants to bless us, we will
appreciate her kindness.”
“What’s wrong? Who is it?” Jasper’s gentle voice sounded from behind,
Eileen put down the phone that had just been hung up, hesitating whether or not to tell him about this
matter.
Perhaps it’s better to let it be. Bringing them up at this time would only upset him.
Eileen shook her head. “It’s Natalie. She’s regretful that she couldn’t make it to my engagement. She was just crying to me about
it.”
Jasper smiled and pulled her into his embrace, looking up at the bright moon in the sky. The weather was perfect today, the
moon was full, and the stars were dazzling and twinkling. In Hulbury, he rarely saw such a bright night sky. “Eileen, I’m very
happy. You still belong to me, and from now on... I won’t part with you again.”
Eileen reciprocated his embrace, resting against his chest. She took in the scent of alcohol on him—not exactly unpleasant, yet
not quite pleasing either. Her response was a simple, “Mm-hmm.”

From that moment on, Eric, Vera, Elsie, and Sarah would no longer be a part of her life.
The absence of her past encounters brought about numerous changes.
She believed that living a peaceful and stable life like this was sufficient for a lifetime.
Noticing that Yvette had finished her phone call, Jacqueline asked anxiously. “So, did they agree?”
Suppressing her displeasure, Yvette forced a smile. “I just spoke with them, Mom. We can go now.”
“Really? That’s wonderful!” Jacqueline’s anxiety instantly dissipated, leaving her almost speechless with joy. She glanced at her
attire. “Am I dressed appropriately for this?”
“Mom, there’s nothing inappropriate about your outfit. You look great as you are.”

Jacqueline chuckled. “No, today is Richie’s engagement day. As his mother, I must dress occasion. This outfit is too plain. I need
to change. I can’t disappoint Richie. He’ll be unhappy. You should change as well and put on some makeup. We’re leaving in half
an hour.”
“Alright, Mom.
Yvette had no choice but to agree in order to fulfill her mother’s wishes.
Once we arrive, Jasper wouldn’t dare to drive us away in front of all the guests.
