Rebirth of the Wife in Despair by Tess Munoz

Chapter 10

Upon entering the mansion, Eileen encountered Sharon, who had just finished tidying up the kitchen. “Oh, you’re back, Ms.
Eileen. I’ve stored the cake in the fridge. Would you like a slice now?” Sharon dried her hands on a towel, facing Eileen. Weary
from a day’s work, Eileen sank into the couch and gestured lazily. “I could use a nap first. I’ll grab a piece later.” However, Sharon
exclaimed, “Ms. Eileen, your clothes got messy from baking just now. You’re going to soil the couch. Please head to your room
and change first.” Eileen reclined on the sofa and replied mischievously, “No chance, I’m so exhausted. Let me rest for a bit.”
“No, this is getting out of hand!” Sharon was on the verge of pulling her up when Eileen playfully rolled down onto the carpet. She
whined, “It’s my birthday today, Sharon.” Just then, the door swung open, prompting Eileen to turn around. She immediately
furrowed her brow at the unexpected intruder. Didn’t he head out with Vera? Why is he back so soon? In the foyer, Eric gripped
his car key, with Vera trailing closely, head lowered, intentionally avoiding eye contact with Eileen. Sharon greeted with a gentle
smile, “Back already, Mr. Snow?” Eric nodded. “My company called for an urgent meeting. I’m here to grab some documents. Let
Vera hang around here for a bit. I’ll be back to pick her up later.” Eileen promptly rose, attempting to straighten her clothes, only
to realize the futility due to the baking-related smudges. Instead, she raised her gaze, meeting Eric’s eyes. Eric quickly scanned
her appearance before inquiring, “Why are you all dirty?” Eileen bit her lip before breaking into a radiant smile. “I got a little
messy while baking earlier. Eric, Vera, would you like to try my cake?” Vera, who had kept her head lowered, suddenly lifted her
gaze and stared at Eileen in disbelief. She then turned to Eric with a questioning expression. Even Sharon sensed that
something was off with Eileen. Eileen had never shown any particular fondness for Vera. It was already a notable act of kindness
for her to refrain from bullying Vera. So why, Vera wondered, would Eileen offer her cake now? Sharon hesitated before finally
asking, “M-Ms. Eileen, are you feeling unwell today?” Eileen replied calmly, “No, I feel fine. I won’t be able to finish such a huge
cake, so what’s the issue with sharing?” Eric, too, found himself surprised, struggling to discern Eileen’s true motive. After a
moment of thought, he expressed, “Thank you, but there’s no need. I’m heading out after grabbing my documents, and Vera isn’t
particularly fond of sweets.” “Oh, all right then.” Eileen appeared disappointed, but deep down, she was secretly delighted. She
had only extended the offer out of courtesy, never intending to share the cake with them. After a moment’s reflection, Eric
suggested, “I didn’t have anything prepared for your birthday today. How about I pick up your favorite strawberry mousse cake
after my meeting?” Eileen flashed him an appreciative smile and nodded. “Sure. Thank you, Eric.” Suddenly realizing, Sharon
exclaimed, “Oh, I forgot about the stew I was cooking. You three carry on chatting.” With that, she rushed into the kitchen,
leaving Eileen, Eric, and Vera in a slightly awkward silence. Eileen’s gaze darted between Eric and Vera. Sensing the tension,
she turned to the man, saying, “I’ll go get changed first.” She wasn’t particularly keen on facing Eric, as remnants of the past
lingered, making her uncomfortable around him. Eric furrowed his brow, observing her hasty departure. Eileen appeared
changed from her usual self. Previously, witnessing Eric and Vera together would trigger intense jealousy in her. However, that
day, her demeanor had noticeably shifted. Has she truly given up on me?

10 I Didn’t Mean To Seduce

Eileen took off her dirty clothes back in her room, standing in front of her closet picking out new
clothes.
Eric’s voice rang from next door. “There’s a company emergency. I’ll come back to be with you if 1 finish in time!”
Vera replied kindly, “I’m alright with that. Go do your thing, Eric! I’ll wait for you to come home to pick me up.”
“Alright, you can sleep in my room if you get tired. The sheets have just been changed.”
“Yes, I know.”
Eileen heard the sound of retreating footsteps, and thought that he had left. She was about to heave a sigh of relief, when the
door of the room was opened.
Eileen’s arms holding the clothes froze, her face flushing scarlet as she scrambled to hold the clothes. against herself.
Eric looked at her bare figure, his hand on the doorknob clenching as he looked away.
Eileen’s figure was pale and smooth. Her chest was not very big, but she had beautiful curves that were still considered
seductive.
Despite the fact that she was only eighteen, it had to be said that she was gorgeous.
Eileen looked away. The two of them had been married for so many years and had slept together countless times, and there was
not much he had not seen before.
Yet for some reason, Eileen felt panicked just then.
It was as if she was meeting Eric for the first time, her eyes darting around panickedly.
Eileen did not dare to turn around. She put on her dress hurriedly, forcing herself to calm down. “Is there anything you want?”
Eric took out a card and put it on the table near him. He pursed his lips before speaking, his voice coming out low and hoarse.
“This is the shopping card the business partners sent over. You can use it if you need any jewelry or clothing. Vera has one of
her own too.”
“Got it. Thanks, Eric.”

Eric lowered his gaze, and closed the door.
He remained outside for a while, trying to tamp down the lust rearing to go inside of him.
He eventually walked away, getting the meeting information he needed and getting into the car. Yet as he drove, the image of
Eileen’s slender waist kept appearing in his mind.
Eileen?
He had to be going insane!
Eric tamped down the thrashing beast inside him, stepping on the accelerator and leaving the Swan
household.
The moment she opened the door, Eileen spotted Vera on her way upstairs.
The two women locked eyes. Eileen did not know what to say to her.
Despite being guilty of causing her death in the last life, Eileen still felt like she could not be friends with her.
They would just have to keep existing around each other awkwardly for a few years, and never have to see each other again.
Eileen ended up speaking first, breaking the tension. “Vera, do you...”
Vera smiled elegantly. “I’m cleaning up Eric’s room, and helping him throw away stuff he might not need anymore.”
Eileen nodded. “You can do that, then. I’m going to get myself a glass of water.”
She went downstairs after that.
Vera said, “Eileen... I know you like Eric. Don’t worry, I won’t take him from you!”
Even if Eileen were to put up a fight, Eric would still love Vera the most.
Why else would he have rushed into my room after you died as if he wanted me dead?
He had even married someone who looked like Vera after divorcing Eileen.

Sarah was only able to stay with Eric for so long because she looked a little like Vera.
Eileen turned around. “I don’t like Eric anymore. He’ll always just be like a brother to me. I’ll be happy for you if the two of you get
together.”
These were sincere words.
She had at least been able to be with Eric in this life, making up for what she had not been able to do in the last one.
Eileen did not stop, going right upstairs.
She filled up a glass of iced water for herself, and caught sight of the trash by the door.
There was a present she had given Eric for his birthday, a pink teddy bear.
She had told Eric then that the bear was a symbol of her, and would be by his side when she couldn’t.
Eileen’s hand holding the glass trembled. Sarah had becauhe one to throw this bear away in the last life.
Now it was Vera...
Maybe this was just fate!
