Chapter CHAPTER 46

rew cold. He knew who Madeline was talking about, even though the desperation to crane his neck and look at klown rose within him. Ivan couldn’t summon the courage to meet his gaze. He looked at Madeline, who was already Torking at him, and then at Shawn, standing and doing G***d knows what, and being in G**d knows which location.
Ivan could feel his hand trembling as he held the champagne glass, even though he had been drinking since the reunion party started. Suddenly, his throat became dry. This time around, he didn’t need to gulp down a champagne but something strong, something capable of calming his tense nerves.
Madeline patted his shoulder softly and walked past him, obviously going over to Shawn. Ivan shakily exhaled as he slowly turned, and his eyes landed on Shawn. But he couldn’t help but potice the very handsome blonde man standing close to him, giving Shawn a sweet smile that made Ivan’s stomach churn.
He realized Shawn hadn’t come alone to the party, he came with his fiancée, which is a man.
The moment Shawn walked out of his Lamborghini with a tall, slender, beautiful man by his side, holding his arm, he walked into the Harvard Faculty Club. He saw that his two best friends, Daly and Mark, were right about the hero thing Women surrounded them, and phone numbers were pressed into their palms and slid into the pockets of their
slacks.
They were shamelessly flirting with them. He noticed some silly women trying to seduce them with their
huge breasts, which he knew were not natural. He had gotten his fair share of experiences, even though he was not interested in them. The only reason he had given any of these women a fraction of his attention was when he wanted to
blow off some steam.
His buddies waved him over, and as he made his way across the room, telling Axel, the boy he came with to make himself comfortable in the party, Shawn fought the urge to scan the room for Ivan. He planned on looking laid-back, completely at case when he was coming. He had settled into a conversation about great Italian restaurants in the city where he and his friends should meet up and have dinner when a stacked redhead rubbed her breasts against his arm and handed him a glass of red wine, smiling seductively at him.
“Shawn,” she said, her tongue coming out to lick the corner of her lips like a viper, “I can’t believe it’s been this long
“Did we have a class together?”
She pouted, and it wasn’t a pretty look for a woman in her thirties, especially when she had a boatload of collagen injected into her lips. She reminded him of the trout they had on special at the restaurant last week, courtesy of his favorite chef and cook, Adam.
“Uhm, I feel so hurt. How could you have forgotten me? I’m Sierra, cheerleader of the Bounty Girls,” she said, giving Shawn the “Let’s get out of here” look.
“Oh…” Shawn nodded his head, even though he had no idea who she was and what she was talking about He just didn’t want to continue whatever conversation she wanted to have with him. “It’s nice to see you, Sierra,” he said, walking away.
He now remembered her, Sierra Clolex, the cheerleader of their football team. She was diligent in her duty of cheerleading, cheering the guys in their hotels and the dark corners of the faculty too. She had tried some of her games on him, but it just didn’t work. He was never interested in her, wasn’t attracted to her then, and certainly not now. And he was d****n sure her panties would be seen at the back of the faculty before the end of the party.
There was someone else he always wanted not to care about.

And after ten long years of keeping his distance, of making sure he wouldn’t run into him under any circumstances, he knew the time had come to face his past.
To face the one man he had truly loved and could never have.
Shawn could feel him in the room. A decade might have passed, but his power over him was stronger than ever. He had often taken his breath away. Shawn could still remember what he looked like ten years ago, how he looked, what he
liked and hated. He could remember Ivan Hudson even if his eyes were closed, his soft skin, his sensual laughter, his plump pink lips. Everything about Ivan ten years ago and even now was capable of driving him mad.
He couldn’t put it off any longer. Shawn knew that. But this time, he decided he was not going to let Ivan get the best of him. He had been with some men and women, been in and out of too many beds to let one little slip of a boy wreck his life again.
Tonight, he would finally show Ivan that even though he had yanked his heart out of his chest in college, shredded it into tiny pieces, and t**d it on the ground, he had no trouble forgetting all about him and moving on with his life. Just like
he had
He had secretly been monitoring Ivan’s life, mostly on social media. He had seen the news of his engagement. That was the main motivation he needed to attend this reunion. He wanted to see Ivan face to face and be sure to get an invite to the wedding.
After talking for a long time with Madeline, hoping she would keep her promise to meet up with him again, Shawn headed or the bar at the far end corner of the hall.
The red wine made his throat dry. He needed another drink, a cold one at that. The room was crowded, but every nerve in s body was alive.
owly scanning the room for his quarry, he saw him standing in the corner with a beautiful lady by his side. From the way e clung onto him like a leech, Shawn could tell that was his fiancée. When the woman stepped away from him to talk Madeline, that was when Ivan’s eyes connected with his.
