Axel: Chapter 25
Back at the clubhouse, I am about ready to lose my mind. We can’t find where Mia and Shar are at this moment in time. They are not answering their cellphones, which is driving me crazy. I have left seven fucking messages and as yet she’s not replied to one.
Walking into my office, I shout for Drag and as he enters he stumbles a little, ‘Fuck Pres, are you okay?’
‘No, I’m not okay. I cannot find Mia. She is out there somewhere and that fucker could find her and take her out. I honestly don’t think she has any idea what a dangerous position she’s in.’ I snarl as I’m about ready to lose it, big time.
‘Actually, Pres, I think she knows exactly what she’s doing, and she’s doing it to take the heat off you and the club.’ Drag sits in front of my desk. ‘She’s not a stupid woman, Pres, she also loves you, but I don’t think she realizes that yet, and it’s all that shit with Gunner that’s held her back from your relationship not being full on.’
‘I can’t lose her Drag, she’s only been in my, our lives for a short while really, but she just fits with me, with the club. Without her, I feel lost.’ I admit, running the palm of my hands over my eyes as they are stinging with the need to shed tears, but Presidents don’t cry dammit.
‘We’ll get her back, Shar, as well. I thought Mia could be a firecracker, but boy Shar exceeds that.’ Drag states, then laughs, slapping me on the shoulder as he walks out of the office.
Picking up my cellphone, I call Target and demand an update on anything more he’s found out.
‘As I told you, they are holed up at a motel. They are safe for the night. She won’t tell me where, just that they are okay. Have you thought about getting Specs to see if he can get a fix on her cellphone? He may be able to get the location.’
‘Fuckin’ hell, that totally slipped my mind, I’ll do that Target.’ I state and as I’m about to close the call he says, ‘Pres, don’t tell Mia I suggested that, if she thinks I’m helping you she will stop speaking to me and we’ll lose her altogether, I don’t want to lose her trust, but I don’t want to leave her vulnerable either.’
‘Okay Target, I understand and I’ll keep it between us.’ I want Mia to have people she trusts, and that especially includes Target, as he was someone who she formed a friendship with when she was first got here, at the clubhouse.
Walking over to Specs I give him Mia’s cell number and ask him to see if he can get a hit as to where she is so I can go and pick her up, also, to keep it to himself as I don’t want ears being able to overhear what we are saying.
Hammer catches me on the way back to the office. ‘Pres, any ideas on how we’re gonna’ find Mia and Shar? I’ve been wracking my brain and am no closer to a solution.’
‘I don’t know Hammer, it’s driving me crazy,’ and just as I’m going to say more, I notice Candy is hanging around the door to the common room. I nod at Hammer and when he notices he walks over and grabs her arm, dragging her into my office, then throwing her down on a chair.
‘Okay Candy, it’s time to come clean,’ I say as I sit behind my desk, pick up my cell and send a text to Buzz to get his ass here pronto, ‘We know you have a brother named Alan, we also know you’re related to Bloom and that you all are trying to get Mia murdered, killed, dead.’ I shout, which has her twitching and pushing her chair back.
‘No, no, no.’ she stutters.
‘You’ll be talking with Buzz. If I have to do it you’ll not last five minutes, so I would prepare yourself to answer the questions quickly and honestly, because Candy, he can cause pain that you’ve only imagined.’ I snarl and look up as Buzz walks through the door.
‘Take her to the shed. I want to know every little thing about what’s going on, about her brother, and about Bloom. I want everything and I don’t care how you get it.’ I stand from my desk and walk out, straight up to my room so I can try to calm myself.
MIA
It’s three in the morning. Shar is quietly snoring and I’m still not tired. My mind is everywhere. I don’t know why I have been blamed for Cara’s death; I had nothing to do with it. The damn woman has caused me nothing but trouble, even after death. It would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious.
Looking down at my cellphone, I read the messages that Axel has left and I feel really guilty that I haven’t replied to them. Maybe it’s time I put my big girl panties on and replied, just to let him know we are okay.
Mia: I’m sorry I’ve not replied before, but we are both okay.
Axel: Where the fuck are you, Mia? I need to come get you, you’re not safe out on your own.
Mia: We are safe for now. We’re at a motel. I can’t be responsible for anything happening to you all Axel, it’s just not right.
Axel: Babe, we are big boys. We can look after ourselves and look after you. Please let me bring you home.
Before I respond again, I notice a truck pulling into the front of the motel. Two guys get out and start looking around. Nope, this doesn’t look good.
Shaking Shar, ‘Get up, they’ve found us. We need to get the fuck out of here.’
Shar quickly puts her shoes on and she grabs the bag we brought in with us. Taking out my Sig, I quietly open the door and squat behind the low wall that runs along the front of the rooms.
We keep low and make our way to the end of the row and then quickly make our way to our vehicle. As we reach it, we hear someone talking loudly, rushing behind the vehicle, squatting down so they cannot see us. We wait until we hear them moving away, then open the car door and we get in, shut the doors as quietly as we can, as we don’t want to give ourselves away.
Shar whispers from the driver’s seat, ‘Fasten your belt, then if we have to rush out at least we have them on.’
Keeping low in our seats, we watch to see if anyone finds us and, as we’re waiting, I send a new text to Axel.
Mia: I think they found us. We’ve made it to the SUV. We’re waiting to see if they see us and if they do, we’ll run for it. I just want to tell you I love you xxxxx and if I get back, we’re not taking this relationship slow any longer.
Shar keeps looking over at me and just as we start to relax and think we’re in the clear shouting starts and four men rush towards us.
Shar starts up the engine and slams me to the back of the seat with the force of her taking off, she aims straight for them and they have to jump out of our way, but they are firing at us, I keep low but have my Sig out ready.
On the road I’m thankful that it is early hours, and the traffic is non-existent, but the truck is coming up fast, we’ve got to do something.
‘Okay Shar, I’m going to see if I can take out the truck, keep it steady.’
Undoing my belt, I make sure the door’s locked and then lean out of it enough to take a shot. ‘God damn girl, hit the thing, not the next town.’ Shar shouts at me.
‘Shut the fuck up, I’m doing my best.’ I shout back at her, then mumble more unladylike curses under my breath.
I take a few more shots and manage to smash their windshield, which has them slowing down. Shar stamps harder on the gas and we get a bit of distance between us.
‘Where’s the second vehicle, Shar? There have to be two because I only saw the truck, and it had two in it, so where did the other two come from?’
‘I don’t know, but by the looks of the headlights, they are gaining on us again. Damn, where can we go to let them get past?’
‘There Shar, turn now, shut off your lights and get into the trees.’ I shout and as she does that, I jump out and line myself up behind a tree, so I have a clear shot if I need to make one.
Shar comes up beside me. ‘Hey girl, did you see the shotgun in the trunk? Do you think we can use it if we need to?’
‘Damn, I don’t know, go have a look while I stay here.’ I keep myself lined up and at the ready.
Just when I start to relax and think we made it and all clear the damn truck comes up in front of us, I wait until I get my shot and when I get my stance; I hear shots and fuck me, Shar is firing at them and fast, I’m in such a panic I cannot remember how many fucking bullets her Glock has, and although I filled the magazine in my Sig, I know I only have ten shots.
The two men are staying low, trying to work their way around to where Shar is standing. They don’t realize that they are going past me and I’ll be behind them in a matter of feet.
Shar must run out of bullets and the two men try to make a dash at her, but I come out from behind my tree and fire. I take one in the shoulder, which has him spinning and dropping his weapon.
The other one whirls around but before he gets lined up, I shoot him dead center of his chest. He screams but I think I missed his heart, as he isn’t dead.
Shar rushes up and kicks the first one in the head, knocking him clean out. I’m really impressed. She has plastic ties on her. Where the fuck did she get them?
‘Come on girl, stop daydreaming, let’s get them tied up and the hell out of here.’
I rush over and see they are both unconscious; I don’t care if this one dies or not; I drag the first one out of the way so we can drive past them and Shar drags the other one. Between us, we get them on the side and rush back to our vehicle and we hightail it out of there.
Driving a few minutes later, Shar looks over and laughs, ‘Fuck, girl, we’re good.’ and I look back at her with wide eyes and in a touch of shock, but the sparkle in her eyes and the flush on her cheeks has me laughing, because she has a damn high from that shit.
My cell is alive and I take it out of my pocket and I see all the missed calls, but thankfully I had it on silent or it would have given our position away.
Mia: We are both okay. We shot the shit out of them, tied them up, and left them. Now we’re back on the road. I think we may come home now if that is okay?
Axel: It’s okay, come home babe. How far away are you?
Mia: We’ll be home in a couple of hours xx
Smiling, I look over at Shar, ‘We’re going home now aren’t we?’ she asks me and I grin and nod that yes we are.
