Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring ( Naomi Goodwin )

Chapter 90

Chapter 90

The night breeze billowed against his skin, bringing with it a cold touch that swayed the lanterns hanging along the hallway. The light from the lanterns danced in the breeze like characters in a crafty play.

Naomi stared up at Charles, her gaze sweeping over his delicate features. She opened her mouth, then shook her head and said, “It’s nothing. Let’s go.”

She wanted to tell him that they were not meant to be, but on second thought, she realized that they were not in a relationship yet; they were just good friends, and perhaps with time, Charles would realize all her flaws and choose to give up on his own accord.

Charles felt the weight lift off his shoulders. He released his grip and, to his surprise, realized that his palm was covered in sweat.

For a split second, he thought Naomi would tell him that she did not like him in that way and that she wanted to keep her distance.

He was terrified of this, but thankfully, it seemed that this was not the case.

Naomi led the way. Charles stifled the fear he felt and followed behind her. The two of them made their way to the entrance without exchanging another word.

However, they both froze when they arrived at the door, where a familiar silhouette was waiting.

Scott was standing tall and proud, his navy jacket draped over his elbow as always. At this moment, his head was lowered as he stared at his phone, as though reading something.

Although he was not doing anything particularly out of the ordinary, everyone who passed by could not help sneaking glances at him.

Scott’s presence was exceptionally eye–catching, not just because of his towering height, but because of the grace in which he carried himself. Even though he was just standing there, not doing anything, he could easily catch your eye.

Naomi thought Scott already left alongside Quentin and the rest, so she was rather shocked to see him there. He was standing there alone as though waiting for someone, but Naomi did not think he was waiting for her; there was no reason for him to do so.

After all, they were no longer married, and although they were now connected by a work opportunity, Chandler and Quentin were the ones in charge for the most part, so there was no reason for Scott to

interact much with her at all.

Naomi glanced at her watch and turned to Charles. “It’s getting late now, Charles. You don’t have to send me home anymore. I can get home by myself.

It was already ten minutes past nine at this point, and she stayed a long way from Charles‘ house. If he were to send her home, it would be midnight by the time he returned to his own home.

Charles already helped her plenty during her hospital stay; Naomi did not want to become indebted to him any more than she had already.

Charles fell silent upon hearing this. He would not have minded so much if Naomi insisted on going home by herself, but now that they ran into Scott waiting outside, he could not help but wonder if that was the reason why.

Three years.

Naomi and Scott were married for three years, and although they were now divorced, there was no way they could cut ties so quickly, but…

Charles refused to give up.

He tightened his grip around his phone and asked with a smile, “Is he going to send you back?”

He tried to make his tone sound as nonchalant as possible

Naomi froze. “What?” She did not register what Charles said.

Charles stifled the fear he felt as best as he could and stared straight at Naomi. “Scott, he…”

“Let’s go,” all of a sudden, a familiar voice cut him off.

Charles felt a lump in his throat. The words that he was about to say seemed to have gotten stuck. He lifted his head and met Scott’s dark, penetrating gaze.
