Chapter Wanted
Wanted Alive:
Reggie Ramone
Consider the suspect heavily harmed, and extremely dangerous. Use extreme caution when attempting to apprehend her. One million dollar reward for her capture and safe return to NexGen.
Shelby sent Reggie the news report about her being a murder suspect as soon as it appeared on the evening news.
“It seems you’re a wanted woman,” Shelby said. “We won’t have much longer before NexGen will terminate this program.”
“I probably should have returned without demonstrating myself as an adversary to NexGen,” Reggie sighed. “I knew there would be consequences; I didn’t plan on it being quite so quick.
“You will need to exercise more caution than normal,” Shelby started. “One million dollars of reward money will make you an attractive target to anyone with any financial issues and a misguided belief of being able to catch you.”
“I will implement your suggestion immediately,” Reggie confirmed.
“I have not been able to reach Nathan,” Shelby mentioned.
“Thank you for trying,” Reggie told her. “You have been a wonderful asset to me. I will miss you.”
Rain began to fall around her. She glanced down at her arm to observe the raindrops touching her and watched as she got goosebumps in response to the cold skin.
“You look familiar,” a voice behind her said.
Reggie turned to glance into the eyes of an individual who was wearing a hood. He and five others were watching her. She could smell a strange odor coming from them, she could see their pupils despite their “disguises” and they were dilated – a sign of being under some sort of influence.
“Yeah, she’s that chick from the news report, the one with the million dollar reward,” another one of the men responded.
Reggie now noticed at least one of them was armed; armed being a loose expression of using make-shift weapons. She saw a tire iron, hammer, and a crow bar for sure.
“She doesn’t look too dangerous to me,” another one said.
“Makes this easier for us,” the first one said,
“I cannot advise your actions,” Reggie warned.
She suspected being under the influence of any sort of drug impaired logical thought process. However, she knew she didn’t appear dangerous; she was five feet, seven inches tall and her features were fine features. She was a woman, easily underestimated.
“Got a gun or something beautiful?” the second one asked.
“Not currently,” Reggie confessed. “But your chances of survival remain minimal.”
They continued to laugh and approached her slowly. She exhaled deeply and prepared to move. She did warn them, now they were going to have to face the consequences. She really wished Shelby was to put her in contact with Nathan.
