Chapter 33:
Margot: “G-ghost!!”
Amara: “Oh, you’d break my heart, mother. Do I look that scary?”
Margot: “Y-you…you died three years ago.”
Amara: “No. Life didn’t give me that privilege. I’m very much alive as you can see.”
Margot: “What do you want?”
Amara: “Why do you look so afraid, mother? Because as far as I can remember, that’s my job. Do you remember that little girl who used to show her and fear just like you’re doing right now? Of course you do. And to answer your question…I want the truth. I want you to tell me who left me here in this shit hole with you when I was a baby. Don’t look shocked, I know I’m not your child. I mean you look at you and look at me. Tell me who left me in this shit home. Was it someone you knew or was it a stranger? Did he leave any object or document or anything to give me that?”
Margot: “No.”
Amara: “Oh mother, you haven’t changed a bit. The same liar.”
Margot: “How can you talk to your mother like that?”
Amara: “How can I? You tell me. I think you know very well how I can. After everything you put me through, you should be grateful I haven’t laid a finger on you yet. Let me tell you, if you don’t give me the truth I’m looking for then what I’d do to you…as you can see, I’m no longer the polite, weak girl I used to be. Turns out, I’m actually not a human and I have powers that I don’t completely understand. I can read minds and that’s what I’m gonna do. I’d enter your mind and that’ll be really painful as I’m not in control of my powers right now. Keep in mind the type of history we share, I wouldn’t restrain myself from giving you pain you deserve. It’ll be more painful than a brain hemorrhage. Like a lot of nerves in your brain have ruptured at once and I won’t let you lose consciousness. I’d keep you conscious so that you could feel the pain. The unimaginable pain that the human body can’t bear and if you think I’m bluffing…I can give you a demo.”
Margot: “No. I’ll tell you everything I know.”
Amara: “Okay, go on.”
Margot: “It was a woman who came and gave you to us and she also gave me a piece of paper and she asked me to hand it to you when you grow up.”
Amara: “Where is it?”
Margot: “I don’t know, I have to find it.”
Amara: “You better find it or I’ll extract it from your brain.”
Margot: “No, just give me a few minutes. Here.”
Amara: “Hmm…why didn’t you give it to me sooner?”
Margot: “I was about to.”
Amara: “Because you were busy torturing me physically and mentally…right? Cat got your tongue? You’re quieter than usual. Am I making you nervous? My aura is making you feel afraid. I wonder if I were the same old Lyra…what would you have done?”
In Amara’s head: Lyra was the name my adopted parents gave me. My real parents named me Amara and Damon knew it and that’s when I changed my identity, Damon suggested this name.
Amara: “Why did you treat me that way? What did that little girl do to you? Look at me!”
Margot: “I’m sorry.”
Amara: “You’re not. If you didn’t wanna take care of a child, you could’ve said no to that stranger. You could’ve told her you don’t wanna take responsibility for a child. But you didn’t, you made this choice. Why? Did she offer you money?”
Margot: “Yes.”
Amara: “Of course. So you ruined a child’s life for money, even after knowing that you had a drunk husband at home and you both were gonna be shitty parents, still you thought about taking an infant to your shitty home and making her life a living hell. I didn’t know it was pre-planned. Why did you do that to me?”
Margot: “I’m sorry.”
Amara: “Are you sorry? Because all my childhood and teenage years you’ve made me feel sorry for something I never did. Don’t you dare say you were suffering too. I didn’t ask you to take responsibility. I didn’t ask you to marry an abusive asshole. I didn’t make you fall in love with him. I didn’t make you stay, I never did anything. It was your choice. Despite the toxicity, we could’ve found comfort in each other and we could’ve left this toxicity. But no. You decided to make me your punching bag, you decided to take it out on me. I was a punching bag and a servant to you both. How much I wanna kill you right now…but I won’t. Death is a reward and I haven’t killed you yet because there’s a reason. This is your prison, you’ve actually chosen this prison for yourself. This toxic marriage and your abusive husband is your punishment. You both are each other’s prison, you can’t leave each other. You just abuse each other mentally and physically. You deserve to live in hell you created and chosen for yourself. And if I would find a way to keep you both alive for eternity and you’re gonna endure it forever. The best punishment for you. Mind you, there wouldn’t be a punching bag anymore.”
Margot: “I’m sorry, I wanted to be a good mother.”
Amara: “Really? Then let me ask you this one question. If your husband would try to sexually abuse me, would you have stopped him? Would you have protected me?”
Margot: “Y-yes.”
Amara: “You and I both know you would’ve done nothing. Do you know how scared that little girl was every night? She was living in fear everyday. Footsteps used to haunt her. The trauma and fear she went through every day? Because it was always a possibility in her mind and it haunted her everyday and now I get why it didn’t happen. If it was in his power he would’ve done it but he couldn’t because I was protected by fate. If he had tried anything I would’ve broken free from the spell that suppressed my powers but it makes me furious when I think about what would’ve happened if I was a normal human. How many more worst things you both would have done to me? Ghosts are infamous without any reason, humans are scarier, humans like you and your husband. I wish you hell for eternity, Margot. Tell your husband I said hi and give him a message. If he stares at a girl like he used to stare at me with his creepy eyes I’d have his eyes plucked out his skull and I’ll make him suffer pain till his last breath. (in Russia Zak’s living room)”
Zak: “What? How? And where’s Amara now? Fuck.”
Kane: “Who was it?”
Zak: “Diavolo. Damon passed away.”
Kane: “What? How?”
Zak: “Amara and Damon were attacked. He saved her but he didn’t make it out alive.”
Kane: “Who attacked them?”
Zak: “The southern groups.”
Kane: “The ones who are involved in human trafficking?”
Zak: “Yeah.”
In Amara’s head: Only supernatural creatures knew about The Legion, but the gangster world calls them the southern groups. They don’t know about their true identity but they sure know that they're ruthless monsters.
Kane: “My father used to tell me about those fuckers. They’re monsters but they don’t know whose brother they killed. I mean, she used to hunt monsters like those.”
Zak: “Wait, you knew? You knew she was the…”
Kane: “The Shadow Huntress? Of course I knew. The moment I saw her for the first time, I knew what I was looking at. She has darkness. It’s not like she hides it, it’s just that people can’t see it past her beautiful face. I never thought I would live to see that empire crumble to pieces. It would be so much fun.”
Zak: “So we should be ready.”
Kane: “For what?”
Zak: “If she’s going after them, she could use all the help she can get.”
Kane: “Yeah but I don’t think she’ll ask for help. She’d like to enjoy killing them alone, but nonetheless, we should be ready. (Darien’s room)”
Axton: “Where were you the whole week?”
Darien: “I was high…on blood and was staying with one of my friends.”
Axton: “Where are the men you had taken with you the other day? and the weapons?”
Darien: “I told them to go back after they were done with the girl.”
Axton: “But no one came back.”
Darien: “Maybe they went on vacation or something.”
Axton: “You think it’s funny? You forgot that Craven is here and he’s gonna ask about those weapons. We’re falling short on weapons, no one wants to do business with us without the bloodshed.”
Darien: “Forget Craven. You know what? You should’ve came with me last night. Do you know what I saw that night? A dragon, can you believe it? I thought they got extinct. Anyways, now they really got instinct because I killed him.”
Craven: “What the fuck did I just hear?”
Axton: “Craven…?!”
Darien: “Master.”
Craven: “What were you talking about? I heard you say dragon.”
Darien: “Yes but don’t worry, we killed him.”
Craven: “What? Are you sure you saw a dragon?”
Darien: “Yes. We saw it and we killed it.”
Craven: “How is that possible? I killed the last dragon with my own hands twenty two years ago. Was he alone? How the fuck did you manage to kill him? A fucking dragon.”
Darien: “It was easy…and the girl I went to kill, she was with him. He wasn’t alone. We started firing and he turned and protected her, didn’t attack us. So it was easy.”
Craven: “A girl?”
Darien: “Yeah but she’s dead too.”
Craven: “What does she look like?”
Darien: “Fuckable. I mean, breathtaking. She’s the most gorgeous creature I’d seen.”
Craven: “Why are you referring to her as a creature? Wasn’t she human?”
Darien: “No, she had literally managed to kill me, her strength was impeccable. She was stronger than a vampire or a werewolf.”
Craven: “Follow me. (Craven’s room). Was it her? (portrait of a girl who like Amara)”
Darien: “Yes, it looks like her but she was more beautiful. How come you have a whole ass portrait of her? Do you know her?”
Craven: “WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE?! (Silvia runs in)”
Silvia: “Father. They know…she told them. I mean I told them about you because I was hypnotized. And you fucker...you said you killed her. How the fuck is she still alive?”
Darien: “Amara?”
Silvia: “Yes Amara. She has a message. (somewhere Rita and Circe’s home)”
In Amara’s head: This is the address.
Rita: “Circe…she’s here.”
Amara: “You know me?”
Rita: “We were waiting for you.”
Circe: “Who’s…oh…Amara.”
Amara: “Seems like everyone knows me.”
Circe: “Of course. But is it really you? I need to be sure, step aside, Rita. (Circe uses her magic to make sure)”
Amara: “What…(Amara shields)”
Circe: “Not even a scratch. Welcome, Amara.”
Amara: “Did you just attack me?”
Circe: “With the most deadly spell. The heiress is immune to any kind of magic.”
Amara: “But a life-saving advice for you…never attack a person who’s grieving one’s death especially if that person is me.”
Circe: “I’m sorry, I heard about that.”
Amara: “I don’t want your sympathy, I want answers. That’s what I’m here for.”
Circe: “Tell me what you wanna know.”
Amara: “Why don’t you start off by telling you who you are.”
Circe: “I’m Circe and I’m a witch. I performed a ritual to bind a dragon as a protector to your ancestors and it was me who suppressed your powers with a powerful and unbreakable spell when you were just an infant.”
Amara: “So because of you, I was sick all my life and no doctor could treat me?”
Circe: “When we performed that spell we didn’t know it would have such side effects. It was important for us to keep you safe no matter what we have to do. That’s what your parents asked me to do.”
Amara: “My parents…you knew them?”
Circe: “I know each one of your ancestors. We try to protect them so you could be born.”
Amara: “Why was it so important for you all to make this prophecy come true? Why couldn’t you all leave it alone and live your life in peace? What’s the point of all of this?”
Circe: “We couldn’t leave it alone because Craven didn’t. He came after Arnoha and his baby, we had to save them.”
Amara: “But what would’ve happened if you had just let them die? I mean it would’ve been fair. Three of them would’ve died and there wouldn’t have been any descendants. No one had to protect anyone, no one had to live like an orphan or maybe worse cause who knows. It seems fair to me, three of thousands…it should’ve ended right there.”
Circe: “Could you imagine the world these people live in? What Craven would’ve done? It’s because of us that he couldn’t destroy this world and humanity. He was busy finding you, otherwise all the creatures and humans would’ve been his slave. Although he still reigns over many places, it’s nothing compared to the world that you’re talking about. Without you and without your ancestors.”
Amara: “If all the elves were doomed to die, to become mortal then how is he still alive?”
Circe: “Because he became a vampire.”
Amara: “What?! A fucking bat bit him?!”
Circe: “Not a bat…as far as we know, it was one of the eldest vampires.”
Amara: “So did you kill him?”
Circe: “We couldn’t even find him.”
Amara: “Great. So there’s more than one Craven.”
Circe: “Maybe even worse than Craven.”
Amara: “Hmm. My parents…are they dead?”
Circe: “Yes. They sacrificed their lives so that we could escape with you. I can show you what happened that day. You need to lie down. (ten minutes later flashback)”
In Amara’s head: What is this place? Circe?
In Circe’s head: Where is he? He should’ve been here by now. He had to inform me right away. We’re running out of time.
In Amara’s head: Who’s he?
Phoenix: “The baby has been born. We can’t waste any more time, let’s go. They’ll be here soon. Let’s make this quick.”
In Amara’s head: The fuck? A baby? So it’s a memory…the day I was born. I need to follow them. (in the abandoned building)
Phoenix: “The baby has been born. We can’t waste any more time, let’s go. They’ll be here soon. Let’s make this quick.”
Cassandra: “They’re gonna take my baby from me. Please do something, Achilles.”
Achilles: “We can’t do anything. We need them, we can’t protect our own, you know it.”
Cassandra: “Why is this happening to us?”
In Achilles head: They’re here.
In Amara’s head: Are they my parents?
Circe: “We don’t have much time, we have to get out of here before they arrive.”
Cassandra: “Please give me one more minute.”
Achilles: “They’re right, love. We can’t waste any more time if we want to save our child. Promise me you’re gonna protect our baby with your life.”
Phoenix: “You have our word.”
Circe: “I’m sorry we can’t save all of you.”
Cassandra: “You’re saving our baby, that’s enough. The ritual isn’t harmful, is it?”
Circe: “As far as I know, it shouldn’t be harmful and we don’t have any other choice.”
Phoenix: “We have to leave. (back out in the woods). This way. (fifteen minutes later)”
Circe: “What was that?”
Phoenix: “They’ve arrived. We have to get out of here. (in a bedroom). Start the ritual.”
Circe: “Damon.”
Young Damon: “They killed my parents.”
Amara: “Drako…?! (Amara runs). No!! (present time)”
Circe: “I had to pull you out, you were hurting me. It’s a memory, he couldn’t hear you.”
Amara: “If you knew everything, you knew me and the prophecy, then why didn’t you tell me sooner? Why didn’t you find me sooner? How could you let Damon die? He’s dead because of me because I was kept away from the truth.”
Circe: “It was his fate, Amara. His sacrifice was needed to break you from the spell.”
Amara: “How the fuck do you know that? How could you say that was the only way? If I always had it within me to break free from that spell then how do you know I couldn’t have done it without Damon’s sacrifice? Why did each one of you decide all this alone, why no one considered telling me the truth. All you had the nerve to tell me that it had to be this way, there was no other way. You know what? If I had known everything sooner I would’ve found another way. I would’ve saved Damon.”
Circe: “You are justifiably angry. I can understand what your g-”
Amara: “No one can understand what I’m going through. NO ONE. (Ryan’s office)”
Bruno: “They’re coming. The Legion.”
Ryan’s Mindlink: “Gather near the south border, everyone. Our enemies are coming.”
Everyone: “Yes alpha. (south border)”
Ryan: “All The Chamber is here. What’s the special occasion, may I ask?”
Kage: “I think you know why we are here.”
Ryan: “To declare war?”
Brandt: “No, war can be avoided. We’re here for the girl.”
Jagger: “Give her to us and the bloodshed could be avoided.”
Ryan: “Trust me…there’s no way we can avoid bloodshed now. You’re late, she’s gone.”
Axton: “Where did she go?”
Ryan: “Look who decided to open his mouth. A cunt of a man who left his offspring on his enemies territory. Axton…you just keep getting better and better. There’s nothing I look forward to more than ripping out your throat.”
Craven: “Enough!!”
In Ryan’s head: Craven. So this is what he looks like. His red eyes state he’s a vampire, an ancient one and his golden hair tells that he was an elf. He might be more powerful than all of us and the army of Legion makes him invincible. Nevertheless, I can bet my life that not a single member of my pack will back down. We’re not scared of these fuckers, if they attack, we attack back.
