Chapter 13:
Somewhere by a big lake and waterfall
Gabrielle: “Bitch, give me a minute to catch my breath. We’ve been searching for the last twenty three hours now.”
Emmett: “We looked everywhere. This is the last place he could be hiding in.”
Gabrielle: “I don’t think he’s here. What if he’s not here? Maybe he left the city to save his life. Why would he go back to The Chamber just to die?”
Loris: “You got a point there, brother. We searched everywhere but couldn’t find him. Let’s go back and tell alpha so we can leave this damn place asap.”
Gabrielle: “Let’s go wolfie, there’s no one here.”
In Emmett’s head: I can’t believe a bloodsucker gave me a nickname. That was the only thing left to see in my life.
Emmett: “He isn’t here.”
Gabrielle: “We looked everywhere.”
Ryan: “No scent of him detected anywhere?”
Emmett: “I’m afraid so. What if he fled to a different country to save his life?”
Ryan: “It’s possible but it depends on whether he was loyal to The Legion. If he’s loyal to them he’ll try to inform the chamber about Amara and that shouldn’t happen. That night she saved my people, she saved a lot of lives. I can’t let anything happen to her. The Legion can’t know about her.”
Luca: “They’ll have to go through us first if they come for her.”
Renato: “Yeah, we owe her that much.”
In Loris’ head: They respect her that much? Of course they do, Luca told me what happened the night of the gathering. She saved all the people that night and not just that, she saved Rico and took the bullets for him. The Bloodwalker pack respects those who earned their respect and she managed to do it in a few days.
In Ryan’s head: My mind is telling me that fucker will create a problem for us and I should at least this place and I should wait for him but all of them are exhausted now. We didn’t get a wink of sleep in three days. Walter is also managing everything alone.
Ryan: “We’re going back.”
In Ryan’s head: If there is any God hearing me right now then I have a request. I want nothing for myself, just keep her safe from any harm that’s coming her way. (in hallway)
In Silvia’s head: I can’t believe I’m about to apologize to her.
Silvia’s Wolf: “It’s your fault you always ask for trouble. Who asked you to call her names, she didn’t do you any wrong but you can’t help being a bitch to everyone.”
In Silvia’s head: She was wearing Diavolo’s shirt, it pissed me off.
Silvia’s Wolf: “You and your fucking unhealthy obsession with our alpha. He’s not our mate, our mate is still out there maybe looking for us but you don’t put any effort into finding our mate. You’re too busy fooling around with other wolves. Our mate will reject us if he finds out you didn’t wait for him.”
In Silvia’s head: I don’t want my mate, I want Diavolo. He’s the most powerful alpha, no one stands a chance to get him and he will be mine. I’ll make it happen, you’ll see and he doesn’t have a mate, remember? Ercole always said he can’t have a mate and you know the reason why and he’s gonna need a Luna eventually. We all used to be good friends in childhood, we were inseparable. Me, Aria, Walter, and Diavolo. I’ve had feelings for him since forever but when I tried to confess he pushed me away and never talked to me again the way he used to.
Silvia’s Wolf: “You didn’t confess, you tried to sleep with him and when he refused, you’re the one who ruined your friendship with Aria, remember?”
In Silvia’s head: It wasn’t a big deal. He still sleeps with different women every night, why couldn’t he sleep with me?
Silvia’s Wolf: “Because he respects his best friend Walter and his parents who take care of him after our former alpha and luna were murdered but you couldn’t understand that. You have feelings for alpha. You’re just after the title of Luna of the Bloodwalker pack.
In Silvia’s head: I see nothing wrong in that. I wanna stand beside a powerful alpha, I also want the power and respect that he has.
Silvia’s Wolf: “Then earn it.”
In Silvia’s head: I don’t know why the moon goddess has to give me a dumb wolf, why can’t you be smart like me?
Silvia’s Wolf: “I asked the same question every day why the fuck the goddess has to give me a shitty and an ungrateful human.
In Silvia’s head: Shut the fuck up.
Silvia’s Wolf: “No bitch, I won’t. Apologize to Amara without causing more trouble. She’s scary, don’t piss her off again and her brother isn’t here to save your ass this time so don’t fuck it up.
In Silvia’s head: Her brother…!!!!
Silvia’s Wolf: “Focus you horny bitch, she’s coming. Remember what mama said. She’ll be very upset if you messed this up.
In Silvia’s head: She’s not our real mother Leah.
Silvia’s Wolf: “But she raised us like her own pup and you should be grateful for that.”
In Amara’s head: I told her to stay the fuck out of my way and yet she’s standing in the middle of the hallway. God give me patience, remember, she’s not worth it.
Silvia: “I’m here to apologize for that day, I’m sorry.”
In Amara’s head: Don’t look sorry. Why is she apologizing? She’s not the type of person who even realizes her mistake, I know and she’s clearly pretending. But why? There’s someone else here too, that’s why.
Silvia: “I’m saying sorry.”
Amara: “Yeah…you should be sorry. Your mother raised you well, you know that?”
Silvia: “I guess.”
In Silvia’s head: Lucia’s gone? So I can be my true self now?
Silvia: “You know what. I did nothing wrong that I should apologize for and I don’t know who the hell you are and where you came from and why these people treat you like you’re some angel sent from heaven. But don't expect me to treat you the same and I advise you to stay away from boss if you really don’t wanna end up being one of those girls he slept with and forgot about.”
Amara: “I didn’t finish my sentence.”
Silvia: “What?”
Amara: “I was saying your mama raised you well but you failed her. You don’t deserve a mother like her or the family you have. Don’t think for even a second I’d ever fall for your fake fucking apology. I’ve lived enough to know people like you can never change. So don’t waste my fucking time again. Moreover, you’re right, I’m not an angel. I’m the devil who was cast out of heaven and if you ever call me names again then I won’t even give you a chance to regret it. Have a day you don’t fucking deserve, bitch.”
In Silvia’s head: You’ll regret coming here and messing with me.
Silvia’s Wolf: “For fuck’s sake. What are you angry about? That she didn’t believe your fake apology? That she can see right through you?”
In Silvia’s head: Whose side are you on? You’re my wolf, you should be on my side.
Silvia’s Wolf: “No, I’m not gonna support you in this shit. You’re on your own. I’ll just advise you, don’t take her threats lightly. You shouldn’t forget how her anger made all the wolves curl up in fear. She’s a powerful creature. (later in the living room)”
In Amara’s head: Why is everyone looking like they’re coming back from a funeral? I wonder what made them so exhausted and depleted like that.
Haliey: “What are you doing here?”
Amara: “Nothing actually, I have nothing to do.”
Haliey: “Come with me then, I’m heading to the kitchen to make my favorite coffee.”
Amara: “Sure. (fifteen minutes later in the garden). You okay?”
Luca: “Yeah, I guess.”
Amara: “Don’t lie, you’re clearly not okay but whatever it is, it’ll be just fine.”
In Luca’s head: Her words have the power to make one believe the impossible. I don’t know if she’s a religious person but how can she be so sure that everything will be okay? I know it’s not possible for me to have my mate in my arms. To see her, hear her voice other than her screams, it’s not possible. Amara however, has this aura that calms everyone. She didn’t ask the reasons, maybe she knew I won’t be able to tell her. How can I tell the human about this whole mate thing? Or our true identity? I don’t know about the rest but I kind of trust this girl. Since the day she came here she’s been nothing but helpful to everyone but no one can deny the fact that she has this darkness in her too. She’s not all sunshine and roses. There’s some darkness inside each of us but we try to hide it, but she doesn’t, she carries it with pride. I wish she could do something for my mate as well but it’s not possible, she’s unknown of our world and even if she wasn’t I wouldn’t be that selfish. I can’t think about risking her safety for my mate. The moment I turned to face her she gave me a smile of comfort as if she was telling me that everything would be okay and in return I smiled, forgetting all my pain and problems.
Amara: “Coffee?”
Luca: “Of course.”
Amara: “By the way, your car is gonna arrive tomorrow.”
Luca: “Really?”
Amara: “You’re gonna fall in love at first sight. (Ryan’s room)”
Ryan’s Mindlink: “We’re having a meeting in thirty minutes. Everyone, report to my office.”
Every Pack Member’s Mindlink: “Yes alpha. (Ryan’s office)”
Ryan: “As you all know we went to meet The Chamber. That attack was planned by them. It’s clear that they don’t want peace anymore so we should be prepared. If they want a war then they’ll get a war. We’ll try to make peace as long as possible because I don’t want my pack member’s to die. We won’t start a war but we’ll fight when the time comes. Renato, recruit wolves who are willing to join us. We need to increase our strength. Train them, we all will be training for nine hours every day starting tomorrow. Let’s not forget that they still have those lethal weapons. We have to work on our reflexes and speed. Inform everyone if they find any member of The Legion on my territory, bring them to me. If necessary, kill them. (Amara’s room on the phone)”
Amara: “When are you gonna reach the mansion, Draco?”
Damon: “In an hour or two.”
Amara: “Okay, I’m going for a run. I’ll be back before you arrive.”
Damon: “Okay, but avoid going too far into the forest.”
Amara: “Come on Drako, don’t treat me like a kid. You know I can take care of myself.”
Damon: “I know but you don’t know it could be dangerous being in the forest at night.”
Amara: “I won’t stay that long.”
Damon: “Okay.”
Amara: “See you soon, brother. (an hour later in the woods)”
In Ryan’s head: I come here a lot to clear my head. A lot has been going on at once. I thought the other night finding the people that attacked us would be easy and when I’d finish them I’d be at peace but I didn’t know my biggest enemy was behind that attack. Even if I killed most of the people who were involved in the attack, the masterminds are still alive and I didn’t kill them even when they were right in front of me but my hands were tied. I can’t risk the safety of my packing. It’s my fault Amara is caught up in this mess. I’m the son of the greatest alpha who was respected by all and who had faith in me. I said to him I’d become like him when I grew up he used to say ’you would become better than me, son. You’re the best version of not just me but your mother as well’. I wish she was here to guide me through the whole situation. I was lost in my thoughts when I heard and felt someone’s presence in the woods.
In Amara’s head: I’m amazed. It’s obvious Diavolo’s ancestors knew precisely where they were building their home. Away from all the city noise, so peaceful and beautiful. This place is heaven for people like me. Oh I forgot to add dangerous to that list. I can sense there’s something dangerous standing behind me.
Amara: “Uh oh…”
In Amara’s head: No…hell no. Not again. Something is seriously wrong with my head, I’m fucking hallucinating. There’s no way a ten foot giant black wolf with red eyes can be standing in front of me right now. No fucking way.
In Ryan’s head: When I sensed someone I ran in that direction. I thought it would be an intruder and I was ready to rip his head off but I was wrong. It was Amara and when she turned around to look at me I expected her to scream her lungs out but she didn’t. I believe she’s thinking I’m not real. Maybe that’s why I’m seeing no fear in her eyes, just curiosity. When I saw Amara it scared the shit out of me. As I’m not in charge, Azrael is. I thought Azrael wouldn’t recognize her and might harm her but to my surprise as soon as he saw Amara he calmed down. He didn’t attack her or growl at her like he does to strangers. I’m familiar with Amara but not my wolf, especially when he was supposed to treat her like a stranger but he didn’t and I wonder why.
In Amara’s head: What if it’s real? Touching it would be stupid but it’ll clear my doubt then I’m gonna do it. Before I could take any step closer, my head started spinning and I fucking hated this feeling. It can’t be fucking happening right now. (Amara faints and Ryan’s wolf howls in sadness)
Ryan: “Amara?! (hour and half later - in the hallway)”
Damon: “Tell me again how it happened? How did she faint?”
Ryan: “She saw Azrael, maybe that’s why she fainted.”
Damon: “What?”
Ryan: “I believe it’s a normal reaction, don’t you think? Any human will react this way after seeing Azrael.”
In Damon’s head: Yeah, human but Amara is different. She never faints, she never loses consciousness after seeing Azrael. That just doesn’t add up. She might have been curious after seeing Azrael or she might have tried to do something stupid but fainting out of fear isn’t like Amara at all.
Aria: “Are you saying she fainted right after she saw Azrael?”
Ryan: “Now that I think about it…not right after she saw Azrael. As a matter of fact, she barely looked scared when she saw Azrael. She was curious and was trying to process, then she also tried to take a step closer and that’s when she suddenly fainted.”
Aria: “She told me yesterday that she had been feeling dizzy for the past few days.”
Ryan: “Okay, I’m calling the doctor then.”
Damon: “No.”
Ryan: “Why not? At least he’ll tell us what’s wrong with her.”
Damon: “I don’t think anything is wrong with her. Maybe her body is just exhausted and needs rest. I’m gonna stay by her side tonight and if something happens I’ll call the doctor myself.”
In Damon’s head: I believe something is forcing her body to shut down…why? Is it because she started seeing glimpses of the past? Is it possible that dreams are trying to tell her something? I’m doing everything to keep her away from that prophecy and her true identity but fate is conspiring against me. (Amara’s dream)
Amara: “Why is this happening to me? I know I’m dreaming but I wanna wake up! Fuck!!”
Unknown: “You can’t escape your fate, child.”
Amara: “Who’s there? Show yourself.”
Unknown: “You can’t see me.”
Amara: “Forget it, it doesn’t matter, it’s a dream.”
Unknown: “Sure, but I’m real. Tell me, why are you hiding yourself? What’s the purpose of the life you’re living? Do you believe you’ve become what you’re meant to be?”
Amara: “I’m not hiding. Why the hell would I hide? And I’m happy with my life, I mean I have everything. I…I’m happy.”
Unknown: “I didn’t ask whether you were happy or not. I asked do you believe that’s the purpose of your life? Yes, you have everything but are you satisfied? Tell me who you are? Where have you come from? Who were your parents? Your intelligence, your strength, power, skills do you think a normal human being can possess all these? Do you think you’ve reached the peak of your abilities or is it just the beginning?”
In Amara’s head: Why can’t I answer these questions? Who am I lying to? I don’t have the answers and I realized those questions were always on my mind but I didn’t try enough to find the answers.
Unknown: “Unable to answer the questions? It’s because you don’t know anything about yourself. You still don’t know who you are. Time is ticking, find your true self. You’ve been staying in a dark place for too long. You’re not trying to find your answers. You can’t run away from your fate. You have to fulfill the task you were born for. A lot is at stake, the more you delay, the bigger the price you have to pay.”
Amara: “What do you mean bigger price I’ll have to pay? What else do I have left to pay? The things I’ve gone through that are not enough? Answer me!!”
