Chapter 78 - Around Crazy People
Recap
“Yep. Let’s go see how much damage the bitch did to my shop. I may have to kill her twice if it’s bad.” Martim chuckled until he saw my face.
“You are not joking are you?” He asked in a high tone of voice.
“No, I’m not kidding. I can bring her back to life and kill her all over again as long as she has died within five minutes of my life-saving methods. And, no, I’ve never used the stuff.”
“But?” He asked as he stopped us in the hallway.
“If she were to ever hurt you or our children I wouldn’t hesitate to use anything at my disposal,” I honestly answered as I grabbed his hand and led him to my jeep.
“You will have to show me how to use this stuff because if she hurt you or any of our children, I would kill her ten times over,” Martim promised. We strapped into the jeep and I put my foot on the brake.
“Oh, shit!” I exclaimed, my eyes feeling as if they had dilated to ten times their size.
Cat’s POV
“Oh, shit!” I exclaimed, my eyes feeling as if they had dilated to ten times their size. "Get your facemask up and get out of the jeep as slowly as you can, Martim."
"What? Why? Is there something happening?" Martim asked as I nodded my head slowly. "You need to get out, too. What do I need to do?" He asked as pulled his hair by the roots.
"Back away slowly and after ten feet back call Madrid and the bomb squad," I told him. I thought he was going to choke on his tongue at my words, but he slowly backed up and called for the bomb squad, but my mom ran out of the offices before anyone could get to me.
"Don't move, Cat, I'm going to check and see what kind of present the bitch has left you. And, before you order me to put my facemask up I've already done so," my mom explained as she laid on the ground.
"Well, I guess this is one way to find out if your suit is bombproof," Madrid dryly commented as he walked in so I could see him.
"Not funny, Madrid." I squeezed my eyes shut. "I think I peed myself. I've never been scared and I'm not now, so is this a pregnancy thing?" I asked as I felt a pain in my back. "I'll be glad when I'm not pregnant. My back is killing me."
"Uh-oh," Flame commented as she walked in my line of sight. I cocked my head to the side in confusion. "You didn't pee yourself, Cat. You are in labor and it couldn't come at a worse time." I looked at the sky and cursed.
Seriously?
Baby drama, too?
"I'm in labor now? The gods hate me," I exclaimed as I slowly rubbed my belly. "Now's not exactly the time, child."
I saw Doc come into my view and rolled my eyes. It wasn't like I could have the baby while sitting on a bomb, right?
Right?
"How much pain are you in, Cat?" Doc asked me as he came a little closer as slowly as he could.
"I'm okay for now. I can take a lot of pain, you know?" I calmly stated. And it was true. I could take a lot of pain before my body gave up on me. "Where's Martim?"
"He's helping your mom with the bomb. Your mom has seen this kind of bom ý poolb before so she knows more about it than our bomb squad," Martim assured me.
"Wow, Madrid, I feel so much better now," I sarcastically said as I rolled my eyes. If he was trying to make me feel better he sucked at it. "Hey, get Sophia-"
"-I'm here. I have your backpack," Sophia informed me as she came into view.
"Good. I need you to back up until you get about twenty-five yards away. Make sure you take Trigger with you and both of you have your face masks up. I need you to pull out my laptop and go to my tabs. You will find one for bombs. I need you to show the different bombs on the wall of the office until Martim tells you to stop, okay?"
"Got it," she said as she raised her face shield or face mask and grabbed Trigger's hand.
"Only you would help diffuse a bomb while in labor and stuck on the said bomb," Flame joked, tryi; ng to lessen the tension in the air.
"You know me. I love ,*no ten minutes before I screamed. I was in a lot of pain, a pain I had never felt before. "I need to push and I need to push now," I growled. "Either move or I'm moving." I felt a pinch in my arm and turned towards Doc, a surprised look on my face.
I narrowed my eyes on him as he backed up. "Go get tbhe people out of the building because I moving in five minutes. I've held on this long." I yelped again. "I swear I'm going to kill Martim myself, do you hear me, Martim. Remember what we were talking about when we walked out to my jeep? I'm going-"
"-All done. Get her out of there before she kills me twice. We need to head to the clinic quickly. I don't think she will make it to the hospital," the doc ordered as shots rang out.
"Really?" I shouted. "A bomb and now target practice? How is this fair?"
"Life is not fair, Cat," I heard the bitch yell. I grabbed Sophia's bow and arrows and set them to my band. I pulled up the bow on my watch and set it to her specifics. I loaded the bow and shot around one of the Shadow Cats, hitting the bitch somewhere.
I picked up the conversation from before as I watched the Shadow Cat's run toward the bitch. "What? I have to go to the hospital. I can't have a home birth." I panicked but could tell my baby had his or her own agenda. I heard the chuckles from behind me./
"We have qualified nurses and doctors here, Cat. You will be safer here than in a hospital, too," Doc assured me. I nodded my head and felt someone lift me. I looked up and saw Martim with grease on his face aynd dirt on his clothes. "Plus, you are a badass Shadow Cat who can take down an enemy while being in labor." He shook his head at my doings. I could tell he was amused.
"Well, aren't you a sight," I drawled, the drugs working their way through my bloodstream.
"How much pain medicine did you give her?" Martim asked Doc. I shrugged my shoulders and laid my ear back on his chest. I didn't care if he was dirty I loved this man with every fiber of my being.
"She's just a little loopy, but she's okay. Follow me, we are going to take a shortcut," Doc quickly said. I could tell he was flossing over Martim's question, but I was not as loopy as hg"%he thought I was.
"I'm okay, Martim. I'm ready to give birth to our child, so worry about the stuff we can control." Martim kissed my forehead and followed behind Doc, my family trailing behind us.
I must have dozed off because I heard Doc tell Martim to lay me down on the bed and he would go get the nurses and set up everything. "You don't have time to get everything set up, Doc," I stated. "Please open the flap in my suits, Martim, and all the male members of my family need to leave. I will not be putting on a show for you today."
Martim moved quickly and within minutes I was flapping in the breeze. I wasn't sure I liked the feeling, but right now it was needed. I couldn't hold the push I gave. I was trying to wait for Doc to don all his medical equipment.
"Damn it, Cat! Don't push yet!" Doc yelled at me, a look of horror on his face.
"You can't tell a pregnant woman not to push, you ass!" I yelled back, the pain in my back and privates getting worse.
"I can if your child hadn't decided to come out butt first," he countered and I stopped screaming.
"What?" Martim asked, taking the question out of my own mouth.
I guess I was a little more doped than I thought I was. "Hey, at least he won't have to worry about being behind someone." Martim looked at me incredulously, a small smile on his face. "I need to push, so do what you need to do, Doc, or you won't like me any longer."
"Fine. I will need to add my fingers to the side of the baby. Yes, I will be touching you," Doc said, getting a hiss from Martim.
"Yourr? Fingers? Inside?" I questioned, a shocked expression on my face as Martim hissed again I knew I sounded stupid but my brain couldn't comprehend his words at the time. I understood he needed to do this to save my child and I was holding him from doing so.
I knew it had to be done and it was nothing sexual. I nodded to Doc to get on with it as I pulled Martim's face to me and laid a hot kiss on his lips. I figured I could keep him occupied, but I didn't know he would fire me up so much.
"Okay, push now," Doc said as I let go of Martim and panted. I wasn't sure if it was because of the pain in my back or because he stole the air from my lungs.
