Recap

“Come on, we are taking the first helo back with a lot of the men. Do you think you will be okay to fly? Martim asked as I finished the coke.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine. What do we need to do here?”

“Nothing, Madrid is talking to the soldiers, making sure they find all the dead. He’s making sure the women are taken care of. A few of them are mates to the Shadow Cats. They will be living close to the base so they can testify about their kidnapping and rape. They saw a lot of people killed, too.”

“I feel so bad for them. It could have been me or Sophia in the same situation if not for you and Trigger,” I told him as he cradled me in his arms. I shivered at the thought.

“Come on, we need to go now. Madrid doesn’t want anyone to see you or Sophia here. We are going back to the base. We have a lot of work to do, but after we eat and get some much-needed sleep,” Martim explained as he picked me up and took me to the helo, Trigger, and Sophia following.

Cat's POV

We jumped on the helo, the helo taking off quickly. I knew my mom and dad would be upset with me. I could hear an ass-chewing coming up for my head-on actions, but all of our plans worked out.

We landed and Martim bundled me up in a blanket and carried me into the car. We took off quickly and headed to the base. I didn't know where we landed at but I knew it was off-base. I guess they really didn't want anyone to see up or know we came back from the Amazon rainforest.

I fell asleep in Martim's arms. I was nice and warm in the loving embrace of my mate. I couldn't wait to start our life together without being on a mission. I knew I had to find the bitch and the other person with the man the bitch killed. And, I knew Madrid was going to want me to look at pictures soon, I hoped it wasn't until we got some food and more sleep.

"Cat, honey, we are here," Martim told me as he lightly shook my arm. He startled me to the point my fist came out and I almost hit him in the face, but his words caught up to me before I could make contact.

I looked up at him with a sheepish smile on my face. "Sorry, I guess I should have told you not to wake me up by touching me." I blushed and hid my face in his chest as he started laughing at me. I punched him in the arm. "It's not funny."

"Why are you beating me up, mate. You hurt my feelings," Martim said, acting as if he were crying and sniffling. I rolled my eyes and went invisible, knowing I shouldn't be seen in one of the rooms.

I noticed Sophia had also gone invisible. We both dropped our blankets and walked to the door next to our mates. The men had to show their identification cards and put their thumbprints in the scanner. Sophia and I quietly walked behind our mates until we got to their rooms, which were right next to each other. Martim rushed me into the room and closed the door quickly.

"More men coming in," was all he said in explanation as to why he rushed me. I shrugged, my stomach growled loudly. "I'm going to go get us some food. Please don't open the door for anyone." I looked at him amused. "I have my own key, not that you would open the door to anyone." I rolled my eyes and pushed him to the door.

As soon as he left the room, I ran into the bathroom and peed. I had been waiting for a long time to go and I thought I was going to pee on myself. I combed my hair and decided it was time to hide some weapons. Every place I looked there was already a weapon. I shrugged and added more to the mix. I slapped on a holster with special glue to the back of the bed, adding a blade and a gun to the back of the frame of the bed. I laid down and made sure I had them level to my head, making sure I could grab one of them quickly.

Martim pushed open the door as I went invisible. He brought in all the food and went back and locked the door. I became visible again and walked back to the little table. One whiff of the food had me running to the head or bathroom again. I was sick and couldn't figure out if it was something I ate, drank, or if it was when I killed the leader.

Martim ran into the bathroom behind me and held my hair up, rubbing my back as I puked up any food I had left in my stomach. "Are you okay, Cat?"

"I don't know. I've been sick for weeks, but it gets worse when I smell certain kinds of food," I explained hoping he would know what it was from.

"Uh," he rubbed the back of his neck. "I'll be right back." With his words, he was out of the bathroom and the room in seconds. Well, okay then.

I flushed the toilet and walked back to the table, grabbing the food that didn't have a bad smell to it. I moved over to the bed and ate while I waited on Martim to get back. He was gone for ten minutes and when he walked in Flame was following him.

Flame?

Huh?

Flame walked over to me and sat beside me. She pulled something out of the bag in her hand and I felt all the blood drain out of my face. "It's not a bad thing, honey. Your man loves you and you two will be okay. Go ahead and take the test. You will need prenatal vitamins as soon as possible if you are.

I stared at the test. "But, I didn't study for this test," I stupidly said. I was freaking out and I didn't know how to take a pregnancy test, but my words could have been taken for me being dumb. "I don't know how to do this test. I've never had to take a pregnancy test before."

"Go pee on the sticks and lay them on the counter. Some of them take one minute while others can take up to three minutes to show results, okay?" Flame explained as she rubbed my arm. I nodded and got up to go take the tests, but Martim pulled me in his arms.

"We can get through this together, Cat," he whispered and kissed the side of my head. I nodded and went into the bathroom, taking the test out one by one. I read the directions and picked them all up at the same time. There was no way I would be able to pee three separate times. I finished my business and washed my hands.

I walked out of the bathroom and Flame started her stopwatch. I swear it felt as if I had been waiting for years before her alarm went off. I didn't move. I was happy I would be having Martims baby but I was scared too.

Martim walked to the bathroom and yelled 'yes, yes yes' loudly. I didn't know how excited he would be and it helped me take a huge breath and smile. I was pregnant. Oh God, I was pregnant. My dad was going to kill me. Martim ran into the room and held up the three tests as if he won the lottery. I laughed and ran over to him to give him a hug, of course, he had other plans. Martim picked me up and spun me around.

"I'm going to puke if you don't stop, Martim," I stated, Martim putting me down quickly. I hugged him and laughed with him, Flame hollering that she was going to be an aunt.

"Who said you were going to be an aunt, you crazy woman?" I asked, secretly pleased she wanted to be an aunt.

"Uh, Cat, Flame's my sister," I looked up at him and her, not seeing the resemblance. "She's my step-sister, but still my sister."

I smiled at Flame. "Now I know why I have always felt attached to you. I always thought it was because we were both crazy." I laughed at her fake hurt face, Flame joining me in the end.

"I need to go. I will talk to you two later, yeah?" I nodded my head and snuggled into Martim.

"We need to eat, honey. You-" Martim attempted to say.

"-I've already eaten what I could stand to smell. There is a lot left but I couldn't open the containers enough to tell what was going to make me sick or not."

"Okay, take a seat and I will open the containers one at a time. Let me know what smells to you and what you can eat, okay?" He asked me. I nodded and sat on the bed. The first container he opened almost had me running for the hills. I shook my head no as fast as I could. He opened two more containers in a row, but they didn't bother me. The last one he opened had me running to the bathroom, puking what I had already eaten.

"Sorry, Cat. I know what you can't smell now. I promise I will leave out the item." Martim rubbed my back until I was done.

"It's not your fault. What the hell was in the last container?" I asked, not wanting to smell it ever again.

"Pork ribs. So, you can't have pork ribs or anything barbeque," he commented. "I'm going to get a refrigerator to put snacks and drinks in for you. You're going to need something to keep you going through the months. How far along do you think you are?"

"Uh," I thought about his question and gasped. "The first time we made love I got pregnant. So, how long does a jaguar pregnancy last?"

Martim looked at me incredulously. "I wouldn't know, I've never been pregnant before." I rolled my eyes and swatted his chest. "I don't know but you could ask your mom."

"What a great idea. Then my dad can come in here and kill you afterward..." I trailed off. "Or, my mom can find out and then slowly let my dad know." Martim nodded, knowing I was speaking the truth.

"Do you want to call her?" He asked. "I can get rid of the food in the other room as you talk to her." I eagerly nodded my head. I was hungry again, but I would be able to eat with the smell in the room.

I pulled my phone out of the pocket of my suit. "What else do you have hiding in your suit?" I laughed at his perviness and dialed my mom's number as Martim left the bathroom and closed the door.

"Mom, can you come to Martim's room and only you, please," I begged. I couldn't have my dad following her or he would blow a gasket.

"Yeah, sure. I'll be right there, Flame," she said smoothly as if she wasn't lying, hanging up before I could say anything. Huh? Her lying? I'll have to let this one pass if she could come by herself. I took a deep breath and blew it out.

Here goes nothing
