Chapter 73 - Crazy Plans - Check
Dedicated to oddball, N.Y.O.B., PenumbraMINE, and Ospreyo112. Thank you for everything.
Recap
Cat held up her hand. We all stepped back into the trees and squinted our eyes. I didn’t hear anything at first, but then I heard the howler monkeys going nuts. I knew It wasn’t the twins because they knew how to make a chuffing sound.
We waited for thirty minutes until three patrolmen came around the corner. None of us moved from our spot. We would have to let them go for now or we would risk the twins knowing our whereabouts. It was too early to meet up with them, but it would be really soon. I knew everyone could feel the tension in the air. I could taste it and I was sure Cat could too.
Of course, when the men got to us they went to a tree across from us to eat. They weren’t under us this time. I didn’t know if it was a good thing or not.
’Holy shit, guys!” One of the men exclaimed.
Cat’s POV
’Holy shit, guys!” One of the men exclaimed. "They found the sister's campsite and found a map of where they will be. We need to go now." I wanted to laugh at the stupid men but I didn't want to give away our location. These guys were idiots. How can you not see cats in a tree across from you?
Right across from you
Same height
Doofus
I watched as the men climbed down from the tree, making enough noise to wake the dead. I signed the others to hold our position. We waited a good two hours before we quietly moved. I quietly jumped from the tree we were in into the tree the idiots were in. I realized I was putting myself in danger to keep all of us safe. I was trying to pull the twins out if they were around.
I would raise a finger and point at each person and the person would jump to the tree I was in. It was a great way to get everyone in the tree and faded into the background. It also cut down on the noise of all of us crossing at the same time.
We made it to the tree and we started humping it out of the area we were in. I wasn't sure how far we had run but it was at least twenty miles until we stopped at a large grouping of trees. It was big enough for all of us to lay down if we wanted, but sleeping wasn't on the agenda.
"I need everyone to look at the map. We need to know where we will attack and what time. We will be splitting up to accomplish our goals. Do not lose your teams, got it?" I explained as I pointed to the map. No one questioned me. They moved towards the map and looked at their positions.
I didn't need to look at the map to see where I was going. Only I would have a crazy-ass plan. I knew what I was doing. I was going to take point. It was something I always did when it came to my family. I knew my mom would know what I was doing, but I wasn't sure if she would be okay with it or not. It didn't matter one way or another.
I was avoiding my mom and dad's glare. I knew they would yell at me if they could, but they couldn't, so all they did was glare at me. It was a funny stand-off, one I knew my parents would lose. I could tell the Shadow Cat's were trying not to laugh, or they were trying not to gasp at my plans. It was a good thing I let Martim know of my plans before I sprang this on everyone else.
Crazy plans?
Check
I rolled my eyes and turned my eyes up to my parents and stared back. I wasn't going to let them intimidate me. We had a plan and we were sticking to it. If they didn't like then they could go home for all I cared. I was happy when they broke eye contact, my mom being the last to look away.
I let out a quiet sigh, happy I wasn't going to have a huge battle to fight before our fight. I knew as soon as we got on the plane I wasn't going to hear the end of it - which is why Martim and I will be flying back on one of the helos.
I pointed to each group and sent them on their way. My group would have to wait for a while before we could leave. I had to make sure our party favors were ready before my team headed to kill the sentries I knew would be there.
I had half of my team sleep and the others were being the look-outs. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep. I had a problem with being vulnerable around others. I knew Martim would try to talk me into sleeping. I could doze lightly if I needed to. I needed to be at my best when we took out the cartel. I was ready to wipe out the whole compound and praying no one builds on the empty sight. I knew my dad had surprises for the compound. I couldn't wait to see what was set up.
I was lulled to sleep by my mate sliding his fingers through my hair. I slept lightly, not wanting to miss our time to leave. Did I think they would leave me here? Nope. They knew I would catch up to them and they would have never heard the end of my bitching.
I slowly woke up and looked around. I looked at Martim and noticed he had laid down to sleep and a couple of the other guys were watching our back. I was a little unnerved by the idea of someone watching me sleep, but I didn't let it show.
"How long has Martim been asleep?" I whispered through my mic. One of the guys raised two fingers and I nodded my thanks. We would need to leave within the next hour to make it to our destination on time. I decided to let Martim sleep for thirty more minutes, but he woke up and looked around. He turned to me quickly and took a huge breath.
'Sorry,' he signed. 'I must have fallen asleep when I was playing with your hair." I nodded and smiled. I knew he needed whatever sleep he could get, so if he thought I was angry with him he would have dead wrong.
"Are you ready for this?" I asked him as I rubbed his shoulders.
"Yeah, they will never expect your plan. It's brilliant even if your parents don't like it," he answered as he purred from his shoulders being rubbed.
I shrugged my shoulders. "It doesn't matter if they like it or not." I stopped rubbing his shoulders and handed him some water and beef jerky. I looked at the other guys and offered some to them, but only two took some. The other men showed me their bag of jerky or the MRE they were eating. I wanted to laugh at some of the men's faces.
I pulled my laptop from my bag and plugged in my portable solar panel. I needed to charge it and see what was going on at the same time.
"What is this?" Martim whispered, pointing at the device.
"A portable solar panel," I answered in a whisper. I saw him mouth 'wow' as he watched me log into my computer. I checked the cameras and noticed everyone was almost in place. They had gone completely invisible. I was happy to see them change their temperature to ambient.
"Ready?" I addressed the men, getting nods from all of them. I looked at Martim and we both nodded our heads, kissing quickly.
I stood up and checked the cameras around us, stowing my laptop in my rucksack. I nodded and signed an all-clear. We took off running quietly in the trees. I was checking my watch every few minutes and noticed something that almost made me growl. I held up my hand to stop everyone. We faded into the trees as I pulled my laptop from my bag.
I rolled my eyes and fixed my cameras back to how I had them before. They had found someone to make my cameras show all clear. I made sure to fix their cameras, adding a long string of code and embedding a worm as I did so. If they were to try and change my cameras again they would have a virus it would take them years to get through.
Martim cracked a smile and squeezed my hand. I could almost hear him telling me good job. I could read his facial expressions by now. He would crack a smile if I said something sarcastic or if he loved what I did. His ears would go red if he was mad. And, when he amorous his eyes would fall to half-mast.
I held up three fingers and signed tangos. I knew every Shadow Cat would know what the sign was for tangos. I noticed it was the same guys as before and rolled my eyes. I closed my laptop down and put it away quickly. I stepped back and closed my eyes, barely leaving an opening for me to watch from.
Someone had told the guys to take to the trees to hunt us down. The stupid idiots had their radios up high, giving away their position and what was being said. They climbed the tree next to ours and looked around. Their eyes passed over our area without really looking. I was the only person they could see anyway and they didn't see me.
Was I invisible?
I might as well have been. They didn't do a good job in their hunt. I couldn't believe they hadn't been killed yet. Were the twins confident enough to send out these men? Or, were these men cannon fodder? It had to be the latter. Throw a bunch of fuckers at us and maybe one will get lucky?
I think not
The idiots moved to the next tree and kept moving away. We didn't move for a few minutes. I wanted to make sure we were completely in the clear. I nodded my head and we took off again.
We were about five minutes away when I had the team stop again. I checked my watch and looked around us. I saw everyone was in position. "Ready, everyone?" I quietly asked after I brought my face shield up, signing for the rest of the team to do the same. All the teams clicked their mics twice, meaning every one of the teams was ready.
I looked at Martim and nodded my head, signaling for the rest of our team to take out any cartel who made their way out of the cartel, quietly. I made sure they knew to be quiet above all else.
I signaled the teams and....
A/N: It's about to hit the fan. Hold on tight. Oh, and sorry for the cliffy.
