Chapter 29 - Kaboom?

I took another bite of my stew when an alarm went off...

Madrid, Matheus and I ran for the monitors, pulling up the screens and the sound. We watched as the monster was standing in front of the false wall, making threatening gestures. The monster was mad and we were wondering how he knew of this place.

Matheus turned the volume all the up, listening to the fuckers words. “What do you want, Barbosa? Can’t you tell we are busy?”

Barbosa looked straight at the camera. “Come out now or I will blow this cave completely off the map. I have charges set on top and on each side of this cave. Come out so we can talk. Do it now. And, Selina, you might as well bring your ass out here too. Don’t make me kill you.”

I grabbed the microphone from Matheus, looking at him and letting him know with my eyes what I needed. “Listen up, you fucker. What would ever give you the idea I would come out and let you get your hands on me, or should I say the hands of your men before you kill me.”

“I’ll pass you around to my men, but I will keep you alive,” Barbosa lied. “Now come out here, all three of you or I’ll blow you up where you stand.”

Matheus grabbed the microphone, holding down the key he started laughing. Loudly. He kept up his laughing after he clicked off the microphone.

“What are you laughing about, Matheus, he’s going to blow us up,” Madrid questioned.

Matheus chuckled. “But, we have the bastard where I wanted him all along. I have escape routes all over the place here. A few escape tunnels run right behind their group.”

I started laughing, the men joining me. “I should have known. You made sure to leave bread crumbs, didn’t you?” He nodded.

Matheus picked the microphone back, hitting the toggle switch to talk. “We are having a debate. Give me a few minutes to convince the other two.” He looked over at us and smiled. “Watch and learn.”

A white flag came out. It was waving in the wind as Matheus spoke, “The tunnels are in the bathroom behind the cabinet in the corner. There are several different ones. If you want to go behind these fuckers go to the left one.” He smiled at Madrid. “There are weapons I developed. They are a nasty piece of work. But, you can target one person at a time and they will shoot exactly what you want to hit. Shall we head behind these fuckers?”

Matheus hit the microphone toggle switch again. “Hold on for a minute. It takes me about ten minutes to open everything up from here.” He turned off the switch and looked at us. “Forgot one thing...this cave is blast proof.”

We laughed even more.

“You have back up plans for your back up plans,” Madrid exclaimed.

Matheus smiled, nodding his head. He hit another switch, making it sound as if he was working on getting the door open. He turned around and grabbed my hand, walking to the bathroom and pulling open the cabinet as if it was a door. “Okay, I forgot something...if you want to change into your jungle camouflage before we leave, do it now.”

I turned around and grabbed my rucksack, opening it up and grabbing my camouflage pants, shirt and pants. I stepped into the shower, pulling the shower curtain closed to change. No, I’m not shy but I also don’t like to change in front of a bunch of men. I quickly dressed and put on my camouflage paint on my face. I didn’t need to look in a mirror to do the paints. I learned long ago it was better to be fast. I pulled the shower curtain open and stepped out of the shower.

“Everyone ready?” Matheus questioned.

We all nodded and followed Matheus into the tunnel.

I thought it would be dark but it wasn’t. There were lights every so often. I noticed we wouldn’t have to crawl as I first thought, the tunnels were big enough to stand in. The tunnel was dry and I wouldn’t put it past Matheus to have made the tunnels blast proof too.

Matheus opened a door and looked around, gesturing to us to walk in. “There is bullet proof glass and the gun range is blast proof. Let’s kill some fuckers. It’s kill or be killed and I don’t plan on dying soon.”

“Yeah, because you have a mate who would go to hell and bring you back, killing you herself,” Eagle stated.

“I wouldn’t put it past Selina. She would fight with the devil himself,” Matheus affirmed as everyone laughed.

“I would do it too,” I stated.

“Alright, the guns have a laser pointed sight. Just pick one up and look at who you want to shoot the gun will stay on the tango until he’s dead,” Matheus explained.

“And, when were you going to bring this new invention to my attention?” Madrid inquired, turning to look in the eyes of Matheus.

“Uh, I wanted to test it first?” Matheus questioned as we were laughing at both of them.

“Looks as if the fuckers are getting impatient. I’m ready to take them out and have that barbeque you were talking about,” Digger quipped, letting everyone know he heard the conversation.

“Come on, let’s get the fuckers,” Madrid ordered.

We all picked up our, surprisingly, light weight guns, walking over to a gun port and quietly setting up. We all looked at each other and nodded, smiling like crazy people. We started targeting the person we wanted and calling out which ones.

I called out the monsters name. He was mine and mine alone to kill. The monster was going to find out what he made of me - a killer. I didn’t like killing but with him I was going to enjoy it. I pointed my weapon straight at him and taking a deep breath, letting it out slowly. I pulled the trigger, causing everyone else to start firing. But, at the last second the monster heard, felt or smelled us, and he moved. He grabbed the guy next to him, pulling him in front of him.

“Oh, come on, that’s not fair,” I yelled out.

I watched as he backed up with the big fucker in front of him. Antonio had a part to play, so he ran toward the monster and grabbed his arm, pulling him into the trees, still holding the big guy.

I picked another target, knowing I lost my shot. Damn it! I wanted him dead today. I didn’t want to wait. I had heard about a cat having nine lives but it pertained to house cats not leopards. Damn, talk about the monster having the devil’s own luck, the phrase was made specifically for him.

After there weren’t any of the monsters men left, we all put our guns down and had a mini celebration. I was the only one who didn’t celebrate. I was pissed. I couldn’t help it. I knew we had killed a bunch of his men but I wanted him. Now, we would have to take him out the hard way.

“I’m sorry, Selina. I know you wanted him but the bastard was sneaky. It showed how much of a coward he is. You’ll get him. We aren’t done yet,” Matheus consoled.

“He’s going to bring all of hell with him when he comes next. And, he will come. I wanted him so bad and he had to go and do a dick move, pulling the biggest mother fucker in front of him. I know Antonio had a part to play but I thought he might have tripped the bastard at least,” I complained.

“I know. Let me lock down this place and we will go back to the bunker,” Matheus comforted. He hit a button causing thick steel shutters to close over the inside and outside of the bulletproof glass. He locked the mechanical lock and huge bolt locks were also clamped shut. “Let’s go, we have a lot to discuss”

“Yes, we do,” Madrid stated.
