Chapter Patience
Chapter 30
Enjeru
The whole ride back my eyes keep glancing over to Micah. I’m baffled that he’s a Forsaken. There is only one other know family like my own, but he couldn’t be their son. And if he is how did he come to end up at Libra? Why didn’t I know they had a 9th child? Did anyone know he was a Forsaken when he came to Libra? So many questions are rushing through my head as I look him over.
“What? Am I sprouting horns or something now he says patting his head.”
I can’t help but laugh at the words that leave his lips.
“What I’m being serious?” He whines still checking his head for horns.
“Micah Forsaken are only created when an Angel and Vampire fornicate.”
“Forni... What?”
“Have sex Micah they have sex god you’re stupid,” Angelique replies rolling her eyes.
“Oh.” He blushes.
“But there are only two know Forsaken families in all of the realms. My own, and the Yamaguchi. It's very unlikely, but possible you’re their son though I thought they had only 8 children, not 9. But to be honest you don’t look like either of the parents, the 3 older brothers, 2 older sisters, or even the triplets though it’s been some time since I’ve seen them.”
“So what does that mean?”
“You may be a one night stand that never should have happened, or your parents were killed and couldn’t raise you. It’s hard to say. The second would be more likely since Heaven is trying to do all it can to keep more of our kind from being born.”
“Why?”
“Fear of the unknown I guess. No one really knows what we’re capable of. We’re a new breed that has never been seen before and that scares a lot of people and Angel’s alike.”
“Just because your scared doesn’t mean you should kill anyone or anything.”
“It’s how I’ve lived my whole life. Everyone’s always been scared of me and my siblings. Hell, my own siblings besides Kiro are scared of me so life has always been hard.”
Micah looks over at me his face showing sadness. He pulls me into his chest hugging me tightly.
“Well, I’ll never be scared of you. So you don’t have to be lonely anymore.”
I smile while in his embrace. I really do love this boy.
Micah
We arrive back at headquarters, and Enjeru pulls me along to the council room. She gets strange looks because of her new appearance, but she ignores them focused on the task at hand. She doesn’t even bother to knock, but she storms into the council room.
“Jakob we need to talk.”
He looks from Enjeru to me.
“It would appear so. Sit.”
“Who is Micah really and why couldn’t I sense him at all?”
“That is better explained by me.”
We turn, and it’s the old man from when David tried to provoke me.
“Old man?”
“Master?”
Enjeru looks to me confused.
“He’s my Master he’s trained me since I was a toddler.”
“How do you know my mother then?”
“For another day Enjeru, for now, I will tell Micah’s story.”
“Is he a son of the Yamaguchi family?”
“No, I discovered him by chance. I was out on patrol, and I heard wailing from a home. I thought maybe the child had just woken up and its mother was on its way so I took no mind of it. When I circles back around the crying could still be heard and I knew something was wrong. I entered the house and found a pile of ashes and a note sitting nicely on top. It described how the father had left long ago leaving the mother, but she was so ashamed she killed herself. Micah was there in a soiled diaper and wailing he looked to be around 3, or 4 but who knows how old he really was. I knew from the moment I looked at him he was a Forsaken so I sealed away his powers and aura. I wanted him to seem as normal as any other human. Then I brought him here to Libra and raised him.”
“Were you ever going to tell me?” I ask.
“When the time arose and it has now.”
I can’t describe how I feel right now. The world seems to be crashing down in front of me.
“Micah I know you are feeling lost wondering if everything you’ve know has been a lie, but understand this I did what I did to give you a chance. When I found you Jakob was not yet the head of the council. I knew that if anyone else discovered there was a Forsaken that they had not documented you would have been cast into a dungeon somewhere. I Just did what I did to protect you.”
“Protect me you. . . .”
“Micah he’s right if anyone besides your master would have found you, you would have been locked away indefinitely. Whether you were a baby or not would not have mattered. If they were willing to seal me away as a child they wouldn’t have held back on you either. Your master did save you.”
“But now everything is different.”
“No, it isn’t you are still the same person. What you are doesn’t determine who you are. You taught me that.”
I look at Enjeru and I can’t help but smile at her kind words.
“So if I’m a Forsaken how old does that make me?”
“Well as I said you could be much older, or you could have really been that young or even younger. It’s impossible to be sure. You could have for some reason reverted to that toddler like form at that time as a way to get someone’s attention. But I found you when I was 33 and it’s been 19 years since then. So you’re at least 22 if we go with you being 3 at the time I found you.”
“Master, why didn’t you just turn me in?”
“Someone wise once told me the biggest mistake of her life was hurting a child. After remembering her story I couldn’t bring myself to put you through that pain.”
Enjeru
Micah’s Master smiles softly at me while I stare back at him.
“Did she really mean it?” I breaths.
“She did from the bottom of her heart.”
Micah brushes a finger against my cheek, and I realize I’ve been crying. The tears staining my shirt from white to red. My eyes go back up to Micah’s Master as I try to figure this man out.
“Who are you?” I ask.
“I am just a man, an old man, but that is all.” He replies calmly.
“Why did she tell you these things, and not me?”
“All will be revealed soon. There is more to her story than you know child. More than even I know.”
I look at him expecting more but receive nothing else. I feel a hand on my own and I turn to Micah who stares me down gently.
“You’ll understand in time Enjeru we just have to be patient.”
I bite back a sob as I stare at Micah. I want to know now, I want to know what my mother knew, I want to know if she really regretted her choice as I regret mine. I want to know it all.
“Knowledge corrupts even those with the best intentions Enjeru. Your quest for answers is understandable, but sometimes you just need to wait for it.” Lucifer says in my head.
“I don’t want to wait I want to know.”
“Enjeru the best comes to those who wait. Be patient and all will be known, my dear. Your mother had a good reason I know it.”
“Patience is a virtue I lack, but I guess if she really wanted me to know now she would have told me.” I reply back to him.
“That’s my favorite Niece. Now focus on Micah right now. He’ll help you get through this. In fact, I’m sure he’ll help you get through anything.”
“Okay Micah I’ll be patient, but only if your there to help me.”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
He leans in place a sweet kiss on my lips, and I can’t help, but smile.
“So this is your answer then mom?” I murmur.
“Did you say something Enjeru?”
“No, it was just the wind.”
