Chapter Her Wolf
Stefan
I have no idea how long I have been in this room with her, but I’m not willing to take my hands off her, as I feel like as soon as I do, she is gone again.
So I don’t. I stay in the bed with her body wrapped around mine, accepting that this might just be the only way to keep her here and Wayne away from her until the warlock arrives.
Her small moans of pleasure only seem to heighten every sensation and pull me in deeper.
The happiness doesn’t last long as I hear shouting and commotion, and I know that Wayne can’t get past Harold. He’s not strong enough to overtake him.
I hear the door smashing, followed by howl. My eyes fly around the room, and I see Thorin on the floor. Jumping from the bed, I grab my clothes, my eyes going to the Earl, his body covered in blood.
Harlyn rushes to Thorin. Her eyes glow, and I hear a growl erupt from within her. My body moves back just as she shifts and launches herself at the Earl.
I watch as the guards rush in and towards Harlyn.
“No!” Moving, I jump in front of them. “Harlyn, stop!” I move between her and the Earl, we don’t even know what happened, and where the hell did her wolf come from?
I feel her teeth clamp into my arm, and she effortlessly throws me across the room. Wayne rushes in and picks up Thorin. Isaac moves and steps in front of Harlyn’s wolf, and she stops her attack.
“What did you do!” I look towards Harold.
“You said not to let anyone enter.”
I glare towards him. “What did you do!”
“I tried stopping Wayne, but every time I did, the child attacked me. I didn’t mean to hurt him so much. I just needed to get him off me so I could stop Wayne.”
I freeze hearing his words.
“Is he okay?” I look at Wayne, and he glares towards me.
“We’re leaving.” He moves, and Harlyn, still in her wolf form, follows. I step in front of her.
“Harlyn, no!” She can’t leave, I watch her jump for me, and see the guards trying to grab Wayne.
“Stop!” Shouting, everyone stops. “Let them go.” If they attack Wayne, Thorin gets hurt more, and I don’t even know if he’s okay.
“Son, think about this.” My father looks towards me.
“He’s hurt; the last thing I want is for him to hurt more.” Turning, I looked at Harold. “What did you do?” Thorin wasn’t moving, and whatever happened triggered Harlyn to get her wolf.
“I was only following your orders, Your Majesty.”
I step forward and my father stops me. “What did you do to the boy?” Father looks at him.
“You need to understand. He kept attacking me, and Wayne was getting closer to the door; you said not to let anyone in!” He stares at me.
“Why aren’t you answering?” My words are roared.
“I needed to ensure he couldn’t attack me, so I immobilised him.” He says it so calmly I almost rip his head off.
“You broke the boy’s legs!” My father glares at him. “Arrest him. Now.” His words are shouted.
“Your Grace, Your Majesty, he will be fine within a few minutes. I was following orders.” He stands shocked.
“You were told over and over they weren’t to be touched! Who helped, as there is no way you alone could have done it.” No way could he have managed that alone. I watch as three soldiers step back.
“Arrest them as well.” I point towards them.
“Your Majesty, I had no choice; I had to act quickly before the other pups arrived.” I glare towards him, but my father shakes his head.
“If you keep talking, you will rot down there. Be quiet!” my father turns from him to me. “Go, see if you can stop them before they leave, or at least find out if he’s okay.”
I nod at his words and walk out. I shouldn’t have done that, I shouldn’t have been with Harlyn in bed, I shouldn’t have forced her to stay, and if I hadn’t, Thorin wouldn’t have gotten hurt.
As I reach the port, I see the boat, I go towards it, and Harlyn appears still as a wolf.
“You can leave, I promise. Just let me know he’s okay.” Right now, I will admit defeat until I can remove the black magic.
“You have no right to know.” Wayne glares at me.
“I am letting you leave! Look, no guards, no soldiers, just me. I am letting you leave. Just let me know if he’s okay!” I beg and watch as Wayne laughs.
“You won’t know if he’s dead or alive. Enjoy what little bit of life you have left.” Wayne turns and walks off.
“Harlyn, please. All I am asking is if Thorin is okay!” I stand waiting, watching as the ship begins to move. “Please!” Are they really going to go and not tell me?
I watch as Harlyn’s wolf nods slightly, and I relax, knowing she is saying yes, he’s okay. Standing, I don’t move.
“Son.” I hear my mother and shake my head, this is my fault, I should have known I couldn’t trust Harold, why had I got him to keep Wayne out of the hall?
“I feel like I lost them, mother.” I know I have.
“Once the black magic is lifted, you will get them back.” She smiles at me.
“They might be out of the spell, but something tells me Harlyn will hate me and blame me for Thorin being hurt. It was my order to Harold that caused it. She won’t forgive me.”
Even I know that Harlyn won’t forgive me for that. Had I not told him to stop anyone from coming down that hall, Thorin wouldn’t have gotten hurt.
“She will forgive you.” She smiles at me.
“No, she won’t, Mother; the emotion was that strong; she got a wolf, and she won’t forget how she felt at that moment.” I know I’ve lost her.
