Power Awakens

Chapter 34

Petrek and Eddick had been at the Tongsai Monastery for almost a year. They had searched through the vast cavernous library at the monastery and had found only snippets help them. It was a great honour to read the Marcel Scriptures and one could not do so until one had lived and worked with the monks for enough time to have gained enlightenment. Petrek chafed at the delays wishing to return to his son and his wife and daughter who he missed dearly.

Working closely with the head of knowledge they had befriended Cespar over the time they had been there. As well as being a talented librarian Cespar was also a master swordsman and a Profent level Majee who could use the LifeMatrix to predict the future. He was however, eighty-five years old and he had not answered the call from Kyoto to protect the Nexii due to his advanced age. Cespar was meditating as he was trying to trace back the reference they had earlier found to the Kistor cycle, all three of them were in the monastery reading room adjacent to the library.

Eddick was absorbed in reading a very old reference document whilst Petrek paced the room with the lack of progress they has so far achieved. It was uncannily quiet and Cespar was expected to meditate for many hours before they could continue their searching. With nothing more they could do, the pair were becoming increasingly frustrated with their lack of progress. Petrek in particular wanted to read the Scriptures right now and had spent time trying to search for the passages that led into the heart of the mountain. But it was useless, Cespar told them often that the way would not open until the time was right, according to the prophesy, but to be patient as the time was approaching when all would be revealed.

Petrek was a simple man who liked things he could see in black and white, he did not like all of this talk of fate and time and prophesy, but also knew with complete clarity that he could not leave this place until he had read those scriptures.

He was startled by a movement behind him, and turned to see Cespar quickly coming towards him.

Cespar’s face was a mix of excitement and agony and it made Petrek very uncomfortable to look at. Cespar took Petrek’s hand in his own. “Come,” he said, it is time for you to read the Scriptures of the Prophet Marcel.” And with that he turned and walked away, expecting obedience to his request.
