Chapter 32

Things between Sasha and I have been on the rocks. She moved out of the master bedroom and has been sleeping in the spare bedroom for the past week. I don’t think much about it because after what happened between her and Gabriel, I don’t think I will ever view her in the same light again.

‘Good evening Sir.’ The house help greets as I settle down on the dinning table. She has been in charge of preparing my meals from the time we got married and now more than ever, I am grateful to her because I don’t know how it was going to be if Sasha was the one in charge and then she had to stop because of our differences.

‘Good evening.’ I respond settling down.

I have just made my coffee when Sasha joins me. It’s the first time in a week that she is joining me on the dining table. The amount of food is a lot and I am wondering why she has asked the help to cook this much.

‘Evening.’ She mutters.

‘Evening.’ I respond not even bothering to look at her.

The help brings a cup for her and I watch as the poor lady makes tea for her.

‘We are having guests for dinner.’

‘And who are these guests?’

‘Lona and Gabriel.’

‘Lona and Gabriel are coming for dinner?’

‘I thought that is what I just said.’

‘The same Gabriel you made out with in this house and later had sex with?’

‘Lona is my friend. I invited them over since I haven’t seen them from the time the two got engaged.’

‘And you are only telling me this now? This is almost 7PM for crying out loud, couldn’t you have prepared me better at least?’

I look at her. I honestly don’t understand her at all. This is someone that clearly has no business being friends with Lona and yet she is always in her business trying to play the best friend.

‘What is your end goal?’

‘What do you mean my end goal?’

I am about to say something when the front door opens and Lona walks in with Gabriel behind her.

‘Best friend!’ she screams walking towards us.

‘Girl come over here and show me that ring.’ Sasha says standing up.

‘Oh mama don’t stand, I will come to you.’

She comes over and shoes her the ring. Sasha makes those cute sounds women make except both Gabriel and I know that she is pretending.

‘Hey man.’ I say as Gabriel and I give each other a manly hug.

‘Good evening.’ He says handing me a bottle of Jack Daniels.

‘God I am famished, immediately I received news that dinner was on you guys, I even skipped lunch knowing how well your house help cooks.’

‘Please help yourself.’

Lona fixes Gabriel a plate before fixing hers. I go ahead and fix mine.

‘This is amazing, it’s a good thing I didn’t eat anything.’ She says putting some rice in her mouth.

‘Someone would think you are the pregnant one with the way you are eating.’

‘Girl I wouldn’t want to risk it, I want to look perfect in my wedding dress.’

‘Wedding?’ Sasha asks.

‘You know how Lona likes preparing for everything. She has already started preparing for the wedding.’ Gabriel says taking her right hand and kissing the top.

‘Wow, why don’t you tell me those plans so that I can help out.’

‘Unfortunately Sasha I don’t want to overwhelm you. You didn’t mention you are planning a wedding as well after the baby is born not so? Or maybe you would rather have a baby shower?’

‘I don’t know, of late I have been having a chicken memory, I don’t even know what I want any more.’

‘Girl I hope you are not putting your dreams away. This is why I always tell people to do what they have to do without procrastinating because the fun eventually dies out. If you have to go to school, go ahead and do it, have a big wedding if you can afford it, go on a honeymoon if finances allow because once you put it off, chances are that you might never do it.’

‘Which is true, do what you want whilst you still can.’ Gabriel adds.

‘By the way I was meaning to ask, have you finalized with selling of your shares?’ Gabriel asks.

Lona and I look lost looking from Sasha to Gabriel.

‘What shares?’ Lona asks.

‘In Leo’s company.’

‘You own shares in your husband’s company?’

‘Wow Leo you must really love her.’ She adds quickly.

‘But why are you selling though?’

‘It might have legal implications that might follow me in the future so I decided to sell them.’

I am looking on in silence, Sasha has decided to sell her fifty percent and she didn’t think of telling me all this. To begin with those books were cooked up and I am not sure what else she has up her sleeves.

‘The person buying is liquidating right?’

‘Yes he is, he is even willing to buy Leo’s other fifty percent. If you were to ask me, I think it’s better to sell so that we don’t have anything tying us to it in future. Since you guys are our friends we can tell you that we did some shady business just to keep the company in our hands, it is only right that we sell.’

‘Excuse me.’ I say standing up and excusing myself from the table.
