People Like Us (bxb)

Chapter 5

-Terui’s POV-

Silence filled the room as the word mate left my mouth. Shocked expressions were visible on their face as they paled out.

“Impossible, this is impossible..” Kelly said out loud. Alex looked at me, going me sort-of pity look. “Say that you’re kidding, please,” she begged, fear eminent in her eyes.

“But..”

“Just say it!” she screamed, tear rolling from her eyes.

Terui, please listen to her for now. If not Nathan might die. Alpha Alex linked to me.

To say I was shocked was an understatement. It felt as if my heart was going to just stop beating and drop onto the floor like a rotting piece of flesh. What could be so bad that I cannot admit to having my mate? But I don’t doubt Alex, I didn’t have a reason to.

“I’m kidding,” I muttered deadly. I could hear the sigh of relief, especially from Kelly, in the room but my mind probably shut down on its own. I couldn’t think straight. Everything seems so cold to me. My mate. He’s going to die just because we’re mated. Is this the goddess’s punishment for not wanting one in the first place?

I walked out of the room like a zombie, no thoughts or feelings are processing in my head or heart. I am unable to comprehend. I have not heard of a werewolf dying just because he or she is mated. It only means that my mate has a curse placed on him, either that or someone is out for his life.

I wiped the stray tear that fell from my eyes, it’s funny how one person is able to shatter my resolve. I guess that’s what mates are capable of. I sat on the armchair, thinking hard about what I can do to help my mate even by a small amount. Or hopefully, settle this issue once and for all

-Nathan’s POV –

“Nathan...” A fading voice called out.

“Nathan...“.

I don’t really feel like answering. Who knows what might happen to me when I do. I moved my hand slightly, surprised at the feeling of grass in my palm.

I shot up to take a closer look at my surroundings. Sure enough, an entire grassland surrounded me. It’s puzzling, really! A moment I had fainted in a place full of houses and now I am in grassland that looks awfully relaxing. Probably my imagination or is this the point where someone comes and says “oh, you’re just dreaming.”

“You ARE just dreaming,” a voice informed in my left ear. I screamed and stumbled a few feet away from my previous position. Looking up, I saw a wolf-morph, or I think that’s what they are called. Half wolf, half-human. I want to play with his fur.

The wolf-morph just gave out a hearty laugh. I pouted and ignored it, walking away to nowhere in my mind.

“Wait, wait I said,” He called out. I turned and glared at him. He took it seriously and took a few steps back. Well, I don’t have much time to play around.

“So… are you able to tell me what is happening here?” I questioned him. He straightened himself and gave a small cough.

“Sure. Urm... Where do I start?” He pondered for a while. “Let’s start with an introduction. I am Gale, the wolf part of you.”

“Wait, I don’t have a wolf side. I’m a pure white, it’s impossible for me to have a wolf.” I interjected, millions of doubts going through me.

“That’s correct yet not entirely. In this world, there is two types of white wolf. I’m sure you have heard of the term deity, a superior being. There are also superior beings in the world of a werewolf. An example is the Kitsune, a Japanese fox deity.” He explained. “These white wolves only comes in two forms. Either human or wolf, but most of them are introduced into the world as white wolf. Those that are a wolf can only stay as a wolf while those that are human can turn partially into a wolf. Though both of them have powers.”

Powers?

“These powers vary depending on the wolf that resides in them. Wolf spirits of the white wolves are able to change themselves to be as close to the original soul residing in the body thus I am half human half wolf since your original form is human. As you can tell, I am not the fighter type. I rely more on intelligence and speed so that also becomes your forte.”

I nodded, I have noticed that I excel in speed, but I have not been able to use it, or else my situation becomes worst. I rather not be at the end of a prey hunt in my own pack.

“Also, I am not sure why, but you have the ability of healing though I’m not sure how you are supposed to use it since that ability doesn’t belong to me. You know, Gale, wind.”

I pondered a bit about it. If he is right, that means that this healing is even more mysterious than I originally thought. It might be a good idea to avoid using it any further.

“So how am I suppose to use this power of yours?” I questioned, not wanting to use raw powers in front of others and shred them to pieces.

“Ah, well I suppose you wouldn’t know. There is a seal under the floor mat of the toilet in the basement, only you can open it so no worries. It’s about time you have to go or else your mate will feel guiltier than he already is.”

“How would I get back?” I asked.

Just think about it, like what I am doing now.

I laughed slightly and close my eyes.

One last thing, you have been cursed and you would need to find the castor, or else I am unable to remove it.

I furrowed my brows when I think about it.

When I open my eyes again, I found myself in a bedroom rather scarcely decorated. I tried to lift my arm only to find a rather heavy person lying on it. The Elder! My breathing quickened and I started to panic.

Calm down, he’s your mate. Nothing will happen. Gale spoke into my head. I took a few deep breaths and calmed myself down. I shook him a little and watched as he got up tiredly. when he opened his eyes, a slight surprise showed in his eyes before he suddenly hugged me in a blink of an eye. I tensed.
