Paranormal Agency BOOK 2 : THE FUNERAL HOME.

Chapter 27

Josh jumped and Elizabeth screamed when Alison came crashing back into the bathroom. The mirror she came crashing through shattered immediately, cutting Alison over the cheek and she was tossed across the room to where her friends were.

"Oh thank god, you're back," Josh breathed. "Are you okay, Alison?"

"Yeah, I'm fine I think." Alison replied, rubbing her back and pulling herself to her feet.

Greg came in. "Thank god Alison, I thought you were dead."

"No, I'm fine," She said again.

But not for long maybe? She looked up and watched as the lights shut off. The emergency lights turned on and a dark inky figure blinked toward them. Alison dodged for her purse, pulling out her athame and stabbing it in the center. It had worked the last time, it may work again.

She let out a "yes," When the monster puddled to the floor and turned into inky dark liquid.

The lights flickered back on.

"Is it over?" Elizabeth asked, her voice shaking.

"I don't know," Alison replied.

There was a scream from down the stairs and they all jumped. What was that noise? Alison was positive they were the only ones in the building. And the monster had been defeated so what in the world could be making that sound.

As they left the bathroom, they found portraits hanging from the walls, faces appearing and disappearing in the painted skies and landscapes. Alison noted a grinning face that appeared and disappeared like magic and frowned. How scary. She hoped Josh and Elizabeth didn't have a heart attack from being in this place.

They strode past the portraits and found a door leading to the mortuary in the basement. Was this really a good idea. The scream sounded again and she decided why the hell not. It was her job to clean the place up but at this rate, with the nightmares, the frightening visions of her past, the ghostly noises, the soulless trying to kill them, and the ghastly faces in the pictures, she was just about ready to either triple her pay rate or call it quits. Just to be certain, of course.

She led them down the creaking staircase and through the iron door that lead the mortuary in dim hospital lighting.

There were dead bodies laying on the tables and covered in sheets. The noise was coming from one of the bodies. What the hell was going on here. The screaming sounded again and again and Alison, followed by Josh and Elizabeth and Greg, slowly crept to the body, and jerked the sheet off.

She screamed.

The dead body, which was most surely dead and putrid in state, was screaming, its eyes wide open and rotted teeth spewing out a black bile.

She screamed again when it jerked up into sitting position, turning its head to look at her and shrieked again.
