Chapter 81
Chapter 81 I Want Revenge
"But I don't even know whose child I'm carrying now," Emily said. "So... let me touch you, can I? No lights, I just want to feel your face."
Mr. Satan remained silent for a long time.
Inside suite 2307 of the Hilton Hotel, it was exceptionally quiet.
The phone rang.
Emily's phone was ringing.
It was Jackson calling.
Emily hesitated, unsure whether to answer Jackson's call at this moment. He would likely be asking about her situation or inquiring about Mr. Satan's whereabouts. But she knew so little about Mr. Satan herself, how could she explain it to Jackson? "Who is it?" Mr. Satan asked.
Emily answered honestly, "It's Jackson."
"Don't answer his call."
"But he's my boss. It might not be polite..."
"Don't answer, Emily," Mr. Satan took the phone from her hand, ended the call directly, then switched it off and tossed it aside. "Emily, don't answer calls from other men in front of me. I'll get jealous."
Emily took a deep breath. "Mr. Satan, you know everything about me very well, but I know nothing about you."
"What do you want to know?"
"You don't like me answering calls from other men, but what about you? I don't know who you are, I don't even know if there are other women around you. When you're at work, are there other women working with you? Would you answer their calls? Sophia destroyed my marriage in the guise of an assistant when I was just a full-time housewife. It's the same now. I only get to see you at night. I rarely see you during the day. Mr. Satan, I'm afraid Nathan's story will repeat itself with us. I didn't have children with Nathan, so I could leave, but now I'm carrying your child, and I don't want to be an irresponsible mother."
There seemed to be a frozen silence in the air, making it hard to breathe.
The phone lay quietly in the corner of the room, never ringing again. Would Jackson be angry?
Emily couldn't think about that anymore. Regardless of whether Mr. Satan was Allen Parker or not, her relationship with Jackson was destined to be that of employer and employee. Even if her future with Mr. Satan was uncertain, she had already made a choice in her heart, and she couldn't let another person in.
"Okay," Mr. Satan suddenly spoke up.
Emily looked up in shock. "What did you say?"
Mr. Satan took her hand and pressed it against his face. "I said, if you want to feel my face, you can. But... you have to promise me, no matter what you feel, you can never leave my side."
Emily's hand was pressed against his icy mask. Her hand felt cold, but her heart was burning hot.
He agreed?
Emily bit her lip, unsure of how to respond. "This is also what I want to say to you, Mr. Satan. I know I'm becoming more and more greedy..."
"Greediness is a good thing," Mr. Satan chuckled lightly, his tone very gentle. "Your greediness shows that you have me in your heart. Emily, your greediness stems from your uncertainty, from your desire to marry me. I understand, but I'm also afraid. Every time I face you, I become unlike myself." Emily sighed deeply, lowering her eyes and resting her head against his neck. "Me too."
Mr. Satan held her hand, removed his mask, and gently placed it aside, covering her hand with his-
The room was pitch black, with not a speck of light. Her eyes couldn't see, but other sensations were amplified instantly. She could hear Mr. Satan's slightly nervous and hurried voice,
as well as her own frantic heartbeat.
She explored his face, from his forehead, to his eyebrows, then to his eye sockets and nose bridge, gently, slowly, inch by inch.
Finally, she discovered the source of Mr. Satan's "fear"-
On the right side of his face, from below his eye to his nose bridge, there was a scar. It was slightly raised compared to normal skin, and it felt hotter than normal skin. Her heart immediately felt heavy.
"Mr. Satan..."
"Did you feel it?" Mr. Satan's voice remained calm. "I didn't want you to see me like this."
"I'm sorry..."
Emily's throat tightened. Her hand had already left Mr. Satan's face, hooking around his neck, burying herself deep in his embrace. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have doubted you..."
Mr. Satan hugged her, gently patting her back to comfort her. "Are you afraid of me?"
Emily shook her head in his embrace. "No, this scar is a part of you, I'm not afraid."
Mr. Satan sighed contentedly, lifting her up and placing her on his lap, gently kissing her forehead. "Emily, you're too good for me, I don't deserve you."
"How could that be?" Emily said. "It's not your fault that you have a scar. Did you have an accident? Was it a car crash?"
Mr. Satan shook his head. "It was a fire."
"Where was the fire?"
"At my home," Mr. Satan said. "When I was very young, I encountered a fire. At that time, I didn't have the ability to escape."
Emily's heart clenched suddenly, feeling immense pity, and she hugged him tighter. "So you've been wearing a mask since you were young?"
Mr. Satan took a deep breath and
whispered, "I've been alone since I was young. I didn't have to face anyone, so didn't have to wear a mask. I've told you before. Before met you, I was a very lonely person, so lonely that sometimes I doubted the meaning of my existence in this world. Why didn't I die in that fire back then? If I had died at that time, I wouldn't have lived the first half of my life so lonely."
"From now on, you won't be lonely anymore, I'll be with you and our child will be with you."
Mr. Satan chuckled softly. "Okay."
"There's one more thing..." Emily bit her lip and looked up. "I want to ask you a question, you can answer or not." "Okay, go ahead."
"You've always said that you have to
finish things before you can be
honest with me, to tell me all the
truths. What is this thing you're talking about? Is it related to your scar?"
This time, Mr. Satan answered quickly. "Yess."
She remained silent, waiting for him to continue.
"I want revenge."
