Pampered by Billionaires after Being Betrayed

Chapter 71

Chapter 71 Hairpin

"Emily, that gentleman is really a good person. You have to thank him," said Bert.

Emily replied, "I will."

After this incident, Bert was completely dejected. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration. "Although we're not wealthy, we've always strived to be kind. It's what our ancestors taught us. How could Sophia turn out like this? I remember she used to be a good person." Emily sighed, "Maybe she was influenced by her mother. Her mother didn't just leave her husband to elope with a wealthy man."

"Our family members are too good-natured," Bert exclaimed angrily. "Her desire for money has surpassed morality. I bet she's gotten what she wanted by now." Emily nodded. "The masked gentleman helped me find out that Sophia's mother went abroad and married a wealthy man. She should be coming back soon." "Why is she coming back? What for?" Bert shouted. "Is she coming back to flaunt her wealth?"

"No," Emily explained. "Nathan and Sophia are together. She's Sophia's mother. Sophia is getting married, so naturally, she's coming back for the wedding."

Bert gritted his teeth. "F.ucking wedding! I see it clearly now. Nathan is just a irresponsible scumbag! If he can treat you like this now, what will he do to Sophia in the future? There are only two kinds of cheating: zero and countless. Now his attitude towards Sophia is already bad. When we were at the Reed's, I wanted to take Sophia away. Sophia didn't want to, but guess what Nathan said?"

"What did he... say?"

"He told me to take Sophia away quickly. He wants to take you back and continue living with you. What does he mean by that? Sophia is still pregnant, and he wants to abandon her?"

Bert was so angry that he had his hands on his hips, breathing heavily.

His voice was loud, causing nurses to turn their heads towards him.

Emily quickly gestured for him to quiet down. This was a hospital; they couldn't be loud and disruptive.

After calming down for a moment, Bert sighed heavily and asked, "Emily, tell me, what are you going to do now?"

Emily remained calm. "I can't go back to the Reed's. Right now, I just want to work hard and earn money to pay for dad's treatment."

"My dear child, let me earn money. You're a girl, how can I let you bear such a heavy burden?"

Emily smiled and shook her head. "My dad raised me, and you've helped us a lot. I remember when I was little, you bought me a new dress for my birthday. Now that I'm grown up, I should repay you."

Bert smiled faintly. "You really are like your mother. You both seem delicate on the surface, but you're so strong. And like your mother, you both like bows, so every year on your birthday, I bought you dresses with bows, and you always liked them." "Yes, I used to love bows when I was little. I thought they were so beautiful."

"Yes, I remember you bought a hairpin with a bow too. But as you grew up, you stopped buying things related to bows."

Emily seemed to suddenly remember something, but when she tried to recall it carefully, she couldn't.

Her memory seemed like it was behind a layer of frosted glass. She could vaguely see the memories blocked outside, but she couldn't make out anything clearly.

"Emily, I've been meaning to say something to you. Will you listen?"

"Yes, go ahead."

"Apply for university. It's such a pity that you didn't apply because of tuition fees."

Emily hesitated for a moment, thinking about the baby in her belly, but ultimately didn't say anything. "I'll think about it," she finally replied.

"Sure, take your time. There's no

rush. And don't worry about Sophia. Her mom is coming back soon, and she has a wealthy stepfather now. She's made up her mind to cut ties with us," Bert said. FindNovel

She intended to donate blood to Sophia before, but since Nathan called the police, she now wanted nothing to do with either of them. She had already done plenty of kind deeds.

William's condition had improved

slightly; he could now open his mouth to eat a little, though speaking was still difficult. He just watched Emily, tears streaming down his face.

Emily gently wiped away his tears with a tissue. "Dad, I've made a decision. I won't have any contact with Sophia from now on. Will you blame me?"

William's tears flowed even harder, shaking his head weakly. His eyes were full of love, as if telling her it didn't matter, he didn't mind.

"Don't worry, Dad. I can earn money now. When you get better, I'll take you on a trip. Didn't you say you wanted to see the sea? Get well soon, and we'll go together." William was wrapped in bandages, every movement difficult, but Emily could tell he was smiling.

As long as he smiled, everything was

overcome, smile and prepare for the next. The hardest times were behind them, and what lay ahead would be a stable and beautiful life.

When they came out of the hospital, Olivia was still waiting in the garage, laughing while looking at her phone.

Emily opened the passenger door and got in. Olivia finally noticed her. "Emily, you're back! Why didn't you stay longer with your dad?"

"The visiting hours are limited. I came out after delivering the food. Are you hungry? I'll treat you to dinner today."

Olivia tucked her phone away, chuckling. "You don't have to treat me. Someone else is picking up the tab."
