Chapter 53
Chapter 53 The Real Him
Emily's heart tightened instantly.
Jackson glanced back at Emily still in the back seat, his tone deep, "Yeah, she's in my car."
Allen Parker on the other end of the phone seemed to say something again. Jackson responded with a grunt of acknowledgment before impatiently hanging up.
Emily couldn't help but ask tentatively, "What did your brother say?"
Jackson gave her a disdainful look. "What does it matter to you what my brother says? Emily, you're quite something, even my brother is attracted to you? Are you some kind of enchantress?"
Emily pursed her lips. If only she were an enchantress, would Sophia have destroyed her marriage?
If she were an enchantress, she could have just scratched Nathan's face.
"He said to drop you off at the intersection, and he'll come to pick you up," Jackson irritably ruffled his hair, adding with a warning, "Emily, if you already have a man, you better tell my brother early. Don't make him look like a fool like me." Emily touched her nose. Your brother is actually my man, and he knows much more than you do.
"...Okay."
Under the shade of the trees at the intersection, the navy blue SUV came to a slow stop.
Jackson wanted to say something else, "The theme for the next car exhibition is..."
But before he could finish, Emily impatiently pushed open the door and ran out. Not far from where she went was Allen Parker's black sedan.
Allen Parker was standing by the car, leaning against the door, looking at his phone.
"Mr. Parker," Emily ran breathlessly and waved to him, "You're here to pick me up."
Upon hearing this, Allen Parker looked up, and a smile lit up his lips as he saw her, "Yes, please get in the car."
Different from being forced into Jackson's car earlier, this time Emily's steps were light and brisk as she directly got into the front passenger seat.
As soon as she got in, she heard a buzz in her ear, the engine roared, and the navy blue SUV, pushing its performance to the limit, swiftly passed by the black sedan's door, almost causing Emily to scream in fright. "Jackson..." Emily was terrified and couldn't speak for a while, "Isn't he afraid of accidents? It's so dangerous!"
Allen Parker chuckled lightly and started the car smoothly. "He's been dealing with cars for over ten years, he's fine. But this kid does have a fiery temper. Just ignore him."
Emily didn't want to bother with him either.
Allen Parker drove steadily, his tone calm and unhurried. "Are you hurt?"
Only then did Emily remember her current disheveled appearance. She had been too excited to see him earlier that she had completely forgotten...
"I'm not hurt. Jackson arrived just in time. If it weren't for him, I don't know how Nathan would have gone crazy today." Emily recalled Nathan's red eyes dragging her to the back seat, and shivered with fear. She was capable of getting pregnant. If Nathan had succeeded, she wouldn't know what to do.
"Mr. Parker, are we going back to the Hilton Hotel now?"
Allen Parker grunted in affirmation. "Yes, let's go back so you can take a shower and change clothes."
Emily obediently replied, "Okay."
The car stopped at the entrance of the Hilton Hotel. Emily got out of the car first and waited by the side for him.
Allen Parker said, "You go up first, I'll park the car."
"Okay, I'll go up first and prepare the bathwater for you."
Emily's figure hurried into the hotel, and Allen Parker watched her get into the elevator before he let out a gentle sigh.
Taking out his phone, he dialed a number. "I've safely dropped her off at the hotel. I told her I was going to park, so you can come up when you're ready."
"Okay." The voice on the other end was deep and magnetic. If Emily were still present, she would undoubtedly recognize this voice.
Allen Parker adjusted his tie and cleared his throat. "When do you plan to tell her the truth? Right now, she thinks I'm you. Jackson thinks I'm trying to steal the woman he's interested in and he's furious. Sigh, I can keep this secret for now, but I can't keep it forever for you."
"I know. Just give me a little more time, and I'll personally explain everything to her."
Allen Parker urged him, "Don't wait too long. The sooner, the better, to avoid deeper misunderstandings. I see Emily as pure and kind-hearted. If she finds out that you and I teamed up to deceive her, it would hurt her deeply." There was silence on the other end for a while.
Allen Parker glanced at his phone screen, still in the call. "Hey, are you still there?"
"Yeah," the man's voice sounded somewhat melancholic. "You know my reasons. Emily was an unexpected intrusion into my life. Once I handle that matter, I'll take Emily away from here."
Allen Parker sighed. "Alright, you
know what you're doing. I won't say
more. Just make sure to think carefully about that matter. What truly matters to you in the end, life only gives you one chance, don't let yourself regret it."
"I understand. Thanks."
"Don't mention it. You keep speaking in that low, deep voice all the time, it's straining my throat. Hurry up, or my throat will give out."
There was a light chuckle on the
other end of the phone. "I wouldn't have bothered you if it weren't for the last time when I used your car to pick her up at the entrance of the car exhibition. She and her friend were checking the license plate, so I had te pretend to be you temporarily."
Allen Parker laughed. "She's quite observant. She really cares about you."
"She's wonderful, and she treats me well."
"Please spare me the lovey-dovey talk in front of me," Allen Parker mercilessly rebuked him. "I have things to do, I'll leave now. It's almost time, so go up quickly, and remember to wear your mask." "Okay."
Emily waited for the elevator for a long time before finally going up.
Room 2307 looked the same as when she left in the morning. She was in a hurry, and the clothes Mr. Satan changed out of were still in the laundry basket.
With some time before him returning home, Emily began to tidy up the house.
Drip-
The door access card unlocked the room's door.
Mr. Satan walked in.
"You sit in the living room first; I'll be done soon!" Emily's voice came from the bedroom.
Mr. Satan touched the white mask on his face, his eyes darkened.
"Emily."
"Yeah?"
"Come here."
Emily hesitated for a moment. "Is something wrong?"
He repeated, "Come here."
"Okay."
Emily hadn't changed her clothes yet, and her hair was still messy. She walked out of the bedroom. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Mr. Satan held her hand. "I just missed you."
