Chapter 26
Chapter 26 His Identity
"Oh my God, Mr. Satan really said that?" Olivia exclaimed, her anger evident as she nibbled on her ice cream. "I used to think he was decent. I even thought you'd have a good life with him. Turns out he's just another jerk." Early that morning, Emily received a call from Olivia, and the two arranged to meet at a café near the Hilton Hotel.
Emily cradled a cup of hot milk, sipping it slowly. "You can't say that. After all, he's spent a lot of money on me, and he has been decent to me."
"You're too naive. He even wears a mask while driving, clearly not wanting you to know his identity. Even if you two break up, you won't know who he is. Do you know what that behavior is called?" "What?"
"He knows everything about your life, but you won't know anything about his."
Emily chuckled at her, "Actually, I felt a little down at first, but now I'm quite calm. Olivia, yesterday I worked at the car show, and my boss was quite impressed with me. He said I'd be going to seven more car shows and doubled my salary." Olivia laughed, "That's great! My dad told me the organizer of that car show is quite influential. If you can get his approval, you won't have to worry about your dad's medical bills in the future."
After finishing her ice cream, Olivia picked up a cup of coffee. "But to be honest, Mr. Satan does have good taste. You look really good in white, it complements your demeanor."
Emily lowered her head, "Really?"
Suddenly, Olivia slapped her forehead. "Oh Emily, you know what? Mr. Satan gave you his license plate number last night to pick you up at the car show entrance, right? Let's look up the owner of that car, then we'll know who he is!" Emily was taken aback.
Indeed, you could find out the owner's name based on the license plate!
"Let's check it out now."
Emily hesitated, "But how can we access this kind of private information?"
Olivia pushed her into the car, "I have friends, don't worry!"
Olivia drove straight to the vehicle management center, chatted with a few staff members for a while, and handed them the piece of paper with the license plate number written on it.
In just a few minutes, she received a text message.
"Oh my goodness, no way!" Olivia exclaimed in a hushed tone, "Mr. Satan is actually Allen Parker?!"
Emily didn't know this name very well, "Who's Allen Parker? Is he famous?"
Olivia rolled her eyes at her, "Allen Parker, the owner of Starlight Entertainment, the largest entertainment company in the country. Many actors and actresses are from his company. But I've heard some rumors about this guy. He has all kinds of female stars under his wings, but he's not interested in any of them. He's been single for a long time! Last time, when a female star tried to seduce him, he permanently blacklisted her. I have every reason to suspect that he's gay."
Emily felt a bit complicated.
Considering Mr. Satan's usual behavior, and all the body language during their intimacy, he didn't seem like he was gay...
"Did he mention wanting you to have his child?"
"...Yes."
"Did he mention having an unrequited love who's already married?"
"Yes."
"But he didn't say whether it's a man or a woman, right?"
"...No."
Olivia slammed the table and made a decision, "Then it all makes sense. He wants to use your womb to have a child! Since he has someone in his heart and won't marry any other woman, and you're pretty, supposedly resembling his beloved, it all fits! Everything makes sense now."
Emily couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and frustration, "So, I spent last night feeling miserable because of a man's jealousy?"
Olivia patted her head sympathetically, "Just look on the bright side, at least he's really wealthy."
Emily: "..."
For some reason, knowing Mr. Satan's true identity made Emily feel a bit relieved.
Compared to being a replacement for another woman, the conclusion that he's gay at least made her feel less uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a voice came from behind, "Emily, what are you doing here?"
Her thoughts were instantly interrupted; Emily was all too familiar with this voice.
"Mr. Reed," she called out coldly.
Nathan seemed hesitant, "Don't be so distant; we used to be husband and wife. What are you doing here?"
"And what are you doing here?" Olivia pulled Emily back behind her, shielding her with her body, and confronted Nathan head-on. "Nathan, you and Emily have nothing to do with each other anymore. Where she goes is none of your damn business!" Nathan furrowed his brow, his tone less than friendly, "I'm talking to Emily. Are you meddling too much?"
Emily sneered, "Olivia said what I wanted to say. Nathan, we're divorced. I'm not obligated to report my whereabouts to you."
At that moment, she caught sight of Sophia rushing in through the door.
Their eyes met in mid-air, Sophia's gaze instantly turning resentful, while Emily stood tall, unafraid.
Sophia hurried over to Nathan's side, her tone gentle, "Nathan, why didn't you wait for me before coming in? Oh, Emily, you're here too."
Emily cut her off bluntly, "Don't address me like that, Sophia. I want nothing to do with you."
Sophia smiled, "We're family, that's an unchangeable fact. The child in my belly is the heir of the Reed family, and Nathan and his mother are very much looking forward to him. They're buying me a car as a reward for getting pregnant. Today, we're registering the vehicle, and unexpectedly ran into you."
"I don't want to run into you at all," Emily said icily. "I'll leave you to it."
