Chapter 18
Chapter 18 You're Blushing Again
Emily's hand trembled, nearly dropping her phone into the sea.
He was actually on the yacht!
Emily bit her lip, unsure how to respond.
"Do you want to see me?" Mr. Satan's message came through again.
Gritting her teeth, Emily replied with a simple "Yes" and hit send.
"Emily, not now."
She was rejected.
But Emily wasn't too upset. Mr. Satan had warned her before, hadn't he? He didn't want to turn on the lights or take off his mask; it was all about not revealing himself. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come. I won't do it again," she replied.
"No need to apologize. As I said, you never need to apologize to me. Emily, I promise you, when the time is right, I'll let you know the real me."
"Okay."
As the screen darkened, Emily attempted to put her phone back in her bag, but another message popped up: "You looked beautiful today."
Those words seemed to carry a warm, moist heat as they penetrated her ears and heart.
It was like his hot breath in the dark night, spraying on her neck and whispering sweet nothings in her ear...
Emily's face started to flush, and she quickly patted her burning cheeks, hoping the sea breeze would cool her down.
Her fingertips trembled slightly. "Thank you," she typed.
Before she could send the message, his call came through.
The sound of the sea breeze accompanied by his shallow breaths filled his earpiece. "Emily."
"Um..."
"Don't dress like this again."
Huh? Didn't he just say she looked beautiful today? Why was he denying it so quickly?
She hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Was I so different from usual? Olivia helped me pick out today's outfit, maybe it didn't suit me..."
"Her taste is excellent," Mr. Satan's voice was slightly hoarse, "I didn't realize before, but you look truly beautiful in white. Emily, try on other dresses when you get home tonight, hmm?" Her face reddened even more.
She glanced around nervously, thankful that there weren't many people here to see her blushing face.
She grunted softly, "...Okay."
Mr. Satan seemed to sense her shyness and discomfort, feeling quite pleased. "Are you blushing again?" "No, you're talking nonsense."
"Why do you get embarrassed so easily?" Mr. Satan teased, "But... I really like it."
Where was he even calling from?
She could still hear the noisy background. He was saying such embarrassing things in front of so many people?
Emily asked him, "Are you going to be busy late tonight?"
"It was supposed to be late, but now... I can't wait to go home and see you change clothes."
Emily scolded, "Isn't there anyone next to you? Aren't you feeling... cheesy?"
"What's wrong with being cheesy?" Mr. Satan said, "Don't you like it?"
She did.
Only with Mr. Satan could she feel needed, loved, and cherished.
How could she not like it?
"Emily, go home. I want to see you."
"Um, okay."
He added, "Let Olivia take you home."
Emily said, "It's okay, I don't want to bother her. She has other friends. I'll just take a taxi."
Mr. Satan insisted, "Let her take you. You looked so beautiful today, I'm worried about you going home alone."
"Then... I'll go ask her."
"Tell Sophia directly to take you back. Her dad's company is in talks for that real estate project I mentioned earlier, I'll give it to her." Emily found Olivia by the buffet table.
Olivia had many friends and was sharing the joy of teaching Sophia a lesson with a few friends, laughing so hard she could barely stand.
Seeing Emily, Olivia pushed her into the crowd, saying, "This is the friend I just told you about. How about it? Isn't she beautiful? I didn't lie, did I?" These people all seemed to be from high society.
A man in a white suit exclaimed, "Olivia, I didn't know you had such a beautiful friend? I've known you for three years and you've never mentioned her once!" Olivia was especially proud, smiling broadly. "She doesn't socialize much."
The other guys' eyes were all glued to Emily, some in admiration, some pensive.
Emily wasn't used to being looked at by so many people, especially so many boys. She tugged Olivia's hand. "Olivia, I think I'll head back first. Can you take me?"
"I'll take you," a man in a black suit said directly. "Where do you live? I was just about to leave too, so I can drop you off on my way."
The others rolled their eyes. "Who can't see through your intentions?! You just want to pursue her!"
This guy was teased by a few people, feeling a bit embarrassed. "You guys are talking about me, but who doesn't want to pursue? When Olivia went to the stern with her just now, who didn't follow?" Everyone started laughing.
Olivia was overjoyed. "Let me tell you, Emily doesn't have a boyfriend yet! Whoever wants to pursue her better seize the opportunity. Equality for all in the face of opportunity!"
Beep beep-
The phone in her bag vibrated, another text from Mr. Satan.
[I take back what I said earlier. Her dad can forget about that project.]
Emily chuckled.
Was he jealous seeing so many men fawning over her?
Emily decided not to expose him.
[Olivia's dad has always taken care of me. If... I mean, if it doesn't affect your business, could you help him out?]
[Hmph.]
Just one word, and Emily couldn't help but chuckle.
Olivia escorted her back to the Hilton Hotel.
When they parted ways, Olivia looked at her phone and jumped for joy. "Wow, Emily, my dad just told me he finally got that real estate project he's been struggling with, and it only cost half the money! My allowance for the next half-year is secured!" Emily was slightly surprised at Mr. Satan's speed, genuinely happy for her. "That's great, congratulations."
"You should go in now. I need to get home quickly. When I get my allowance, I'll treat you to Australian lobster!"
"Okay, be careful on your way home."
Emily walked into the familiar lobby of the Hilton Hotel, took the elevator, and stopped on the 23rd floor. She entered the room.
Instinctively, she reached for the light switch, but hesitated, unsure if Mr. Satan had returned.
The next second, a strong pair of arms wrapped around her waist.
He kissed her fair neck from behind. "I gave Olivia's dad that project at half price. How will you repay me?"
