Our love

life.

I muddled through several days, unable to accept a world without lan.

I wanted to attend his funeral, but the Morris family wouldn’t allow it. His parents drove me out and even humiliated me.

They said it was all my fault. If not for me, lan should have returned to the Morris family to inherit the business and live a smooth

But under my encouragement, lan pursued a career in wild plant conservation.

His parents blamed everything on me, but they didn’t understand that it was lan’s dream.

Until later.

I met Owen in the hospital due to my illness, and a ray of light entered my bleak life.

With a little investigation, I found out who he was. lan’s twin brother, a doctor with a bad temper.

From then on, I became Owen’s follower.

As long as I saw his face, which looked exactly like lan’s, I felt that lan was still by my side.

But their personalities were too different. Owen was solitary and cold. After arguments, he never sought me out, unlike lan.

It was always lan who coaxed and amused me. Owen wouldn’t refuse Alice, but lan was different.

There were never any other women around him.

I knew clearly that Owen was not lan. They were worlds apart. But I still yearned for that bit of goodness.

“Sorry, I should apologize to you,” I said, looking at the nearly broken Owen in front of me.

I knew Owen probably hated me enough to kill me now.

The man was silent for a long time. Suddenly, he hugged me.

“I don’t mind, Zoey, I don’t mind,” he said.

He had gone mad.

He knew I treated him as lan’s substitute. I didn’t love him at all, but Owen said he didn’t mind. This world had truly gone crazy. Someone actually volunteered to be a substitute.

But I was tired. I wasn’t a pure person. Even in my interactions with Owen, I was very, very tired. I couldn’t love anymore.

“You rest first. I’ll come back when you’ve rested,” Owen said.

Owen left. I watched his lonely back, knowing he must be feeling terrible inside.

After all, the Morris family didn’t plan to tell him. As selfish as they were, they could bear it, even knowing they had another child out there.

If lan hadn’t died, leaving them without an heir, Owen would never have entered the Morris family in his lifetime.

In truth, he was also a pitiful child.

The next day, Owen still came. He personally cooked and brought me food, without mentioning what I had said before.

No matter how I scolded or hit him, he wouldn’t leave.

“Owen, why do you insist on this? Why be a dog instead of a person?” I said it angrily.

I was furious. Though Owen had said it this to me before, I used it to scold him now. He still came to hug me, but as I dodged, I accidentally touched the injury on his hand.

His long sleeves covered the wounds. I grabbed Owen’s hand and rolled up his sleeve.

“Did your father hit you?” I asked.

“Yes,” he replied.

I wasn’t surprised. His father was strict, using harsh methods to discipline lan. When lan ranked second before, his father punished

him by locking him in a small, dark room overnight.

So, it was normal for Owen to be beaten. His eyes reddened, holding back tears.

He looked so pitiful.

But they were different. He wasn’t him!

He must have argued with his parents yesterday. Otherwise, how could this happen?

“I’ve left the Morris family. I can live well on my own. Zoey, please give me another chance. I don’t want to lose you,” said Owen.
