Chapter 9
009
Our Love Was Broken in An Instant
I found Owen very strange. He clearly knew the truth and knew I didn’t love him, yet he still followed me.
On the day I was discharged, Alice came, as annoying as ever.
“Zoey, are you proud of yourself now?” Alice walked up to me, “If you don’t like Owen, let him go.”
I didn’t say anything, but Alice got more and more into it.
“He argued with his family for you, got beaten up by his dad, and is willing to sever ties with his family for you. What more do you
want?”
Alice kept accusing me.
I smiled, “I broke up with him. You should be happy. Your chance has come.”
“Hmph,” Alice snorted, “Owen rushed to Yoseph Mountain overnight for you. He knew there was an earthquake and risked his life
to save you. He was the one who pulled you out of the rubble.”
I was surprised.
I didn’t expect that day wasn’t an illusion. The person I saw wasn’t lan; it was Owen.
Alice continued, “He risked his life for you. What makes you worth it?”
“Yeah, what makes me worth it? When I chased after Owen, when I almost fell for him, he ignored me.
And now he’s so affectionate?”
“You don’t deserve his kindness, Zoey. You’re a disgusting woman.”
No matter how much Alice cursed, I wouldn’t waver. I couldn’t be bothered with her and got into the car.
Starting today, I would leave Aford City. What I did was wrong, but was Owen right?
I didn’t love him and couldn’t give Owen any more hope.
I left the city where I had lived for so long. After that injury, my right hand was fractured and deformed, unable to carry heavy
objects, and my left leg had lasting problems. I could never go into the mountains again.
I bought a house in a village. The environment here was great, and various flowers blooming in the yard.
I squatted down, identifying each flower one by one.
Tears rolled down my cheeks.
“lan, do you see? Even though you’re not here, I can still recognize them all.”
I became an online science education blogger, which was a professional match, continuing to share my passion and dreams.
Recently, the village held some activities that were very lively. The climate here was humid, the vegetation was lush, and there was
a wide variety of plants.
The village chief specifically invited me over, and more people came than I had expected.
Many of them were even my fans.
Amid the chaotic crowd, I seemed to see that familiar face. Was it him? When I chased after him and was stopped by fans for photos.
I saw Owen standing right in front of me.
He had changed a lot. His eyes showed a hint of maturity. This time, there was no illusion. I clearly knew he was Owen. “What a coincidence, Zoey.”
“Is it? Owen.”
I then realized that after I left Aford City, Owen had searched for me everywhere and followed my steps to this city.
Owen said he would be at ease just seeing from afar that I was doing well.
My heart was at peace. I had been immersed in the dream I had woven for myself for too long. Now that the dream had ended, it was time to move on.
“I didn’t mean to disturb you, Zoey. I’ll leave tonight.”
Owen explained like a helpless child. He was now a renowned medical expert, living well without relying on the Morris family.
I smiled and replied, “Have fun.”
Through the wild winds, the place I arrived at was where my heart found peace.
The End
