Chapter 37
Chapter 37
“What are you on about? Did I say you could do so?”
“Then, did I say you could fool around with Jessica?” Stella chuckled lightly. “I would’ve said no. Yet, you’ve already done it, haven’t you? Since that’s the case, then let’s live our separate lives.”
She deliberately portrayed herself as a salacious woman. That way, he would despise her so badly that he’ll eventually divorce her.
The anger in Brian’s eyes could no longer be hidden as a snarl appeared on his face. He let out a sneer and said, “Are you trying to cheat on me?”
“You did the same. Besides, will you leave Jessica if I begged you to?” she questioned him with a sharp smile.
Brian’s eyes sharpened. “No.”
Stella was well aware that he would never leave Jessica.
So, she shrugged and said nonchalantly, “That’s why, I said we should live our separate lives. You guys were having the time of your lives while I lived sad and alone. Do you think that’s fair to me?”
“Well, it doesn’t matter now. Since you don’t love me, just spend your time with someone who will. However, I also want a guardian angel of my own.”
“So, do me a favor and stop running my fun. Let’s live happy lives without one another. We won’t have to squabble over this whenever we’re home together. Isn’t that great?”
Brian’s gaze was roiling with thunder upon hearing her audacious words. Then, he suddenly gripped her wrist tightly and snarled, “How dare you!”
Stella nearly jumped out of her skin. The wrist he was strangling was her swollen left hand. Her brows knitted together due to the pain as she hissed, “Watch it!
Only then did Brian notice that her wrist was swollen. He frowned and demanded, “You got hurt?”
He recalled what Jessica had said. She had bumped into Stella and Yoel in the hospital.
“Yeah, I got into an accident.” Stella inhaled sharply and blinked back tears.
Brian hastily released her before holding her other hand and dragging her out of the dining hall.
Stella complained, “I’m still hungry!”
“You’re hurt. Yet, here you are, thinking about food? You should apply your medicine.”
“No, I want to eat now. Wouldn’t it be better to eat before applying my medicine and going to bed right
after? Stella was insistent.
The scowl on Brian’s face was impressive as he barked, “Wait here.”
Then, he returned to the kitchen and filled her empty bowl with soup before leaving. Finally, he held her
hand and said, “Let’s go.
He was holding her soup hostage.
Stella had nothing to say about that. So, she obediently followed him.
Brian placed the bowl of soup on the dressing table and said, “Drink it here.”
Then, he searched for the first aid kit and rifled through it for the cream. “How did you get into a car accident? How did your hand get hurt?”
“Two drunks bumped into my car. They were wasted and tried to hit me.”
Brian shot her a look. “Why didn’t you call me?”
“No way. What if you’re with Jessica? I’d be a third wheel then.”
“I wanted to call the cops. However, Mr. Perkins came to my rescue. His bodyguards helped me settle the matter. He’s quite a nice guy.” Stella took the opportunity to praise Yoel.
Brian narrowed his eyes and let go of her wrist. “What are you doing? Are you finished?”
He assumed that this was just a new tactic of hers.
Ah, the pride of men. Here he was still thinking that she was doing all this to gain his attention.
Perhaps the blame was on her for lying to him about getting into trouble. That’s probably why he no longer trusted her.
Stella softened her tone and said, “That’s not it, Brian, I’m not trying anything. I’ve thought things through and I’ve accepted my lot in life. So, I just want to find a new person to love.”
“A new person to love?” Brian chuckled coldly. “Hiding your identity and going on a blind date is your method of finding love?”
Stella lowered her lashes. “I’ll confess to everything in the future.”
He suddenly gripped her chin tightly.
Brian tilted her face up and glared at her venomously.
Stella felt her breath catch. Alas, he had already closed the distance between them. Their lips were barely a breath apart and she could smell him from where she was sitting.
Stella instinctively flinched away from him. Sadly, the bed was right behind her. If she scooted
would be sitting on it. So, she had no choice but to meet his gaze.
ed away, she
The look on his face sent out warning bells in her mind. “You’re even thinking about the future?”
