Chapter My Toyboy 228
Chapter 228
Halfway through the meal. Justin suddenly said, "Cynthia, I got call from Mr. Stewart today. He said you quit your job
there. Is that true!"
Cynthia calmly took a sip of her soup. "Yeah, I did."
Selena looked at Cynthia in surprise, She couldn't believe that she actually quit her job.
At first, she wanted Cynthia to study design or business management, but the latter insisted on majoring in Media and Communication, claiming that being a reporter was her dream. Even though she had gone through a lot, she chose to work as a reporter.
Selena didn't expect her to give up a dream she had held onto for so many years so easily. She thought, 'Did something happen? Although she was worried, she kept silent, lowering her head with a sigh.
Shirley, on the other hand, was happy. Since Cynthia was no longer shining as a prime-time hostess, she was just an ordinary person just like her.
Justin continued. "You should have quit that job a long time ago. It wasn't helping the family business anyway. Now that you're free, tome work at my company. I've kept the design director position open for you." Shirley instantly flared up. That's not okay, Dad! That position mine!"
"Shut up! After everything that's happened, do you still think you can be the design director? Everyone knows your previous works were just copies of Miss Y's! Because you plagiarized, the company is in a slump now, and how dare you ask for that position?" Shirley's face turned ugly from the scolding. Cynthia, however, replied casually, "I just want to take a break, I'm not looking to work right now."
Justin quickly soothed her. "I know you just quit and you probably want to have some fun for a while. Go ahead and enjoy yourself. When you're ready, you can come to work at my company. I'll keep that position open for you." Cynthia shrugged. "We'll see."
Cynthia's indifferent attitude made Shirley jealous. Cynthia treated everything she desperately wanted like it was nothing. She thought that Cynthia must be doing this on purpose to try to show off.
Shirley nearly broke her spoon in frustration, but then a thought crossed her mind. Cynthia working at Justin's company was better than her going to Jonathan's place because they wouldn't get to see each other very often. Suddenly, Shirley spoke up. "That's not fair, Dad. Since there's no position for me at the company, can you arrange a job for me with you, Jonathan? I've been stuck at home for a month and I'm bored out of my mind." Cynthia looked up at Shirley with a cold gaze. She knew exactly what she was scheming.
Jonathan was aware of it too. He leisurely wiped his mouth with napkin and said, "You probably won't be able to handle the work I have for you." Shirley perked up at the hint of hope. I can do anything. Jonathan. Just give me any task-serving tea or cleaning the office. I can handle it all."
Shirley felt her hints were clear enough. She wanted to be his secretary, even if it meant just serving tea and cleaning.
Jonathan replied, "Having you do those tasks would be too much of a downgrade."
Shirley felt ecstatic that Jonathan actually cared for her.

Chapter 228
BB
"Not at all! Just being able to work at BJ is an honor for me. I can do any dirty or hard work, Shirley insisted.
Jonathan nodded. "If that's how you really feel, then go to the HR department tomorrow to get started."
Shirley couldn't have been happier. She didn't expect the first step of her plan to go so smoothly. She thought that if she could become Jonathan's secretary, winning him over would just be a matter of time. Cynthia knew that Jonathan couldn't possibly be so kind. She turned to him, but he shot her a wink.
Cynthia said nothing, silently sipping her soup while feeling a tinge of sympathy for Shirley, the foolish girl.
However, in Shirley's eyes, Cynthia's silence was just her swallowing her pride. Jonathan was clearly interested in her, no matter how unhappy Cynthia might be about it.
Justin also had something to talk to Jonathan. "Actually, the situation with Velorix right now..."
Before Justin could finish, Jonathan interrupted, "Do you also need my help with something?"
Just as Justin was about to respond, he continued, "It's alright, please speak up. I'll do my best to help
He then turned to Cynthia, gently squeezing her hand resting on the table. "Cynthia said we just came home for a simple dinner. I didn't expect everyone to be asking for my favor, but understand that. I have to pay you back.
He sighed, sounding like he was merely making an ordinary remark. Then he looked at Justin with sincere eyes. "It's fine, What were you going to say, Justine?"
Justin found himself at a loss for words. He had been thinking about whether there was a chance for Velorix to enter the World of Elegance.
If Velorix could get in through the back door and associate with those top luxury brands, it would elevate the entire brand volume significantly.
Sure, there might be skepticism, but once Cynthia became the design director, she would surely create stunning works that could amaze everyone. In time, it wouldn't be impossible for Velorix to become a leading international brand. However, such a great opportunity was ruined by Shirley. If Shirley hadn't made her request first and Justin had brought it up instead, Jonathan might have agreed.
However, since it was Jonathan's first visit to their house and they presented so many conditions right away, it inevitably made him feel like the Jones family was just trying to climb the social ladder for their own benefit. Moreover, Justin was concerned that Jonathan might blame Cynthia for this. If Jonathan became disappointed in her, it could jeopardize their relationship, and that would be a loss for their family's business.
In the end, Justin swallowed his words, deciding to wait. He thought that once they were married, their relationship would be solidified, and he would have plenty of opportunities to get what he wanted. With a smile, Justin said, "I have no demands at all. I'm just grateful that you take good care of my daughter, Jonathan." He raised his glass. "Here's to you!"
Jonathan returned the smile lightly as they clinked glasses. "It's nothing."
After dinner, Justin suggested, "It's getting late. Why don't you stay here tonight?"
Cynthia refused, "We'll just get my driving license / left home last time and head back."
"Right, your license." Justin quickly added, "Selena, help to bring Cynthia's driving license over. We don't want to delay them in taking care of important matters." 10:13 Wed, Nov 13
Chapter 228
Selena went to fetch the ID. She returned shortly, but her expression was extremely grim.
