Oops, I’ve Been Exposed

Chapter 52 by Lorelei Thunder

In her seat, Pamela was panicking. She couldn’t understand what had gone wrong, and why her efforts were in vain.

Just then, Miriam’s phone rang. “It’s a call from my cousin. I can ask her about the reason,” Miriam said, pointing at her phone.

Pamela nodded, a nervous look appearing on her face.

“Hello… What did you just say? The Legal Department is drafting a contract, and York Corporation will be their gold-tier partner?”

When Pamela heard that, she immediately looked joyful.

“Wait, you just said that we were disqualified. Why did they change their mind so soon? Quit pulling my leg! I can’t handle something like this!”

But Kurt remained in disbelief. His dad said that there was no chance, so it had to be true. There couldn’t have been any changes. He was convinced that the caller was joking with Miriam.

The Cartwrights always kept their word. They would never change anything after it was confirmed.

Before Miriam ended the call, Pamela asked eagerly, “So what’s the situation like now?”

“We did it! My cousin said that the Legal Department will contact you soon to confirm it.” Miriam was extremely excited.

Pamela was surprised. “Really?”

Snorting, Kurt said, “Ladies, I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but the higher your hopes, the greater your disappointment-“

Just then, Pamela’s phone rang. “Hello … Oh, you’re Mr. Liam Duncan from the Legal Department. Yes, of course. I’ll be there Monday morning to sign the contract. Thank you; Mr. Duncan.”

The good news made Pamela’s hand tremble as she held the phone. She never expected this surprising turn of events to occur. It truly was quite a thrill.

“Oh, right, were you saying something? “Pamela asked casually. She didn’t hear what Kurt said just now.

Kurt was stunned. He still hadn’t recovered from his shock! How did that just happen? It didn’t make sense!

Miriam suddenly said loudly, “You’re amazing, Mr. Donnel! You helped us solve a huge problem with just a call.”

“Thank you so much!” Pamela said.

Kurt put on a gleeful expression and then quickly pretended to be humble. Smiling, he said, “Oh, it’s nothing. You flatter me, ladies. This is all thanks to my dad.”

Kurt thought to himself, “Dad must have underestimated how much Helen valued him and thought that he didn’t manage to make it happen. He probably didn’t expect Helen to be so respectful toward him.

“Yes, that has to be the case! So, in the end, it’s all thanks to me. That call worked! After all, of all the connections Pamela has, only my family is powerful enough to talk to the Cartwrights.”

In the front row, Helen turned around and glanced at Pamela and the others. There was a slightly disdainful smile on her face. She couldn’t believe that they were celebrating over such a small win.

“Excuse me, I have to use the bathroom,” Woody said as he got up.

“I’ll go with” Helen blurted out before she realized the problem. She immediately blushed.

Of course, Woody had to decline. ” You’re the host, so you probably shouldn’t leave the venue.”

“Look, where’s that Henderson guy going? He must be trying to sneak away while he can. We can’t let him have his way. Let’s stop him!” Kurt said, widening his eyes when he noticed Woody.

Miriam agreed right away. “While we’re at it, we can tell him that we’re the Cartwrights’ gold-tier partner, and he can never hope to be on Ms. York’s level. He’ll give up on her then for sure.

Before Pamela could say anything, the two dashed up to Woody.

“Hey! Henderson! Stop right there!” Kurt dashed forward, blocking Woody’s path.
