Chapter 37 by Lorelei Thunder
“Do you know who I am? Tanner Jett is my uncle, and Ryan Jett is my cousin. You’re done for, and so is that old couple!”
“Is that so?” Woody replied calmly as he bent Roman’s arm. A crack was heard as the dagger fell from Roman’s hands.
Roman’s arm broke, and his bone tore through his skin. Blood immediately began streaming out, and he began to scream.
Woody slapped him across the face, forcing him to shut up. “How much money did you get from cheating Shane? Speak!” Woody shouted. Then, he grabbed Roman’s other arm.
Roman was in so much pain that he got onto his knees. “What are you standing around for? Tell him!” Roman shouted at the lackey who was in charge of the accounts.
The lackey nervously said, “It’s around 500 thousand dollars. The capital was 200 thousand, and the interest was 300 thousand!”
“I am a very reasonable man. So I want you to return the 300 thousand to Shane. The balance will be your interest,” Woody ordered.
Widening his eyes, Roman said defiantly, “In your dreams! My family has a rule where we only take money and never return it. We cannot possibly give away the money we have taken!”
“You wanna say that again?” Woody stepped on Roman menacingly. Another crack pierced the air. This time, Roman’s right leg was broken, and it bent at an odd angle.
“Ah! Even if you kill me, you won’t be able to get the money back!”
Without any hesitation, Woody broke Roman’s other leg. Before Roman could scream, Woody lifted his leg for the third time, aiming at the spot between Roman’s legs.
Roman panicked and gave in right away. He begged Woody pathetically, ” Stop! I’ll give it back. I’ll give it back right now.”
He then turned to one of his men and said, “Hurry up and transfer the money! If I get ruined, you’re the first to die!”
The lackey hastily took out his phone and tapped at it nervously. Immediately after, Shane’s phone received a notification.
When Shane checked it, he saw a message from the bank informing him that he had received 300 thousand dollars.
“They actually returned it!” Shane was in disbelief.
Woody put down his leg, and Roman sighed a long sigh of relief.
“Get lost!” The lackeys scrambled to pick Roman up and ran away.
Roman shouted as they exited the gate, “Just wait, kid. The Jett family will never let you off the hook. You can never escape. My uncle will avenge me a hundredfold!”
When Shane and Mindy heard that, their faces instantly turned pale in fear. The money they had just received was beginning to look dangerous.
“Shane, Mindy, don’t worry. I’ll sort this out. You can’t live here anymore, so I’ll take you away from here.”
Mindy wasn’t quite willing to go. ”
Huh? But what about all our belongings? It’s such a waste to leave them like that.”
“They’re not worth much. No one will steal them.” Taking out his phone, Woody called Helen. “Help me look for a secluded hotel. It has to be safe above all else. Will that be a problem?”
“No, Mr. Henderson. Who will be staying in the hotel?” Helen hastily asked.
Woody replied, “Shane and Mindy. They’re family.”
Helen raised an eyebrow. “No problem. If you’re worried about them, I’ll send someone to protect them.”
“Thanks.”
“Please. There’s no need to be so polite with me.”
Woody added, “If they insist on paying, tell the hotel to accept the money.” Woody was aware of Shane’s temperament. Shane never liked to take advantage of others.
Helen replied, “Understood. We’ll provide the best discounts so that they’ll feel that it’s worth it.”
