Chapter 13
Chapter Thirteen
The second our lips touched, I felt an indescribable wave of pleasure that shot through out my whole body, electrocuting every blood cell that it touched. I would have gasped at the enduring force if his lips hadn’t captured my voice. I was sure I had never felt anything this pleasing. Yet as fulling as it was, it also left me desperate for more. I couldn’t seem to get enough and just knowing that I would eventually have to pull back to breath send my brain in denial.
Maybe this once I wouldn’t have to breath.
I dropped my bag and climbed into his lap, never breaking the kiss. All my thoughts were thrown out the window and my common sense didn’t exist.
What was my name again?
I didn’t know.
All I knew was the outline of Blade’s lips. His smell, his eyes, his touch. It was like a poem to me. A poem that I knew by heart, mind and soul.
Our lips played games together. Games that I never even thought I knew.
My arms went around his neck and his gripped my waist. My fingers tangled in his thick brown hair and it only made the kiss more passionate. My mind refused to believe that this was as close as we can physically possibly get.
I needed to be closer.
He pulled back to breath for half a second and his lips were back on mine. My back rested on the steering wheel as he worked his magic.
We surveyed each others resistance and need. Our moist bodies now laced with sweat and we pulled back, breathing hard and rested our forehead against each other.
“You’ve got talent,” He choked out.
I smirked,” Than lets not let it go to waste.”
Soon, I forgot about needing to breath and focused on moving my lips in sync with his. He bit my bottom lip genitally as if demanding entrance. Without a second thought, I let him through.
The kiss became more heated by the minute and I lost track of time. All that was going through my head was how long I’ve been wanting to do this without even knowing.
It seemed impossible to me now, that I’ve gone so long without feeling this captivating pleasure. My body literally buzzed with enthrall and compulsion.
His conjuring lips traveled down my face until reaching their desired destination.
His hands grasped my waist with more compressibility and I found myself liking it. It added more to the needy atmosphere.
My body, as heated as it already was, grew hotter by the second. I didn’t care if being this deprived was healthy or not, nor did I care.
A loud BEEP startled us and caused us both to jump up. We looked around frantically searching for the originator that interrupted us. I soon realized it was the steering wheel that I was resting on.
“It was just the steering wheel,” I muttered, regaining my breath.
He looked at me as if just waking up,” Uhh sorry. I don’t know what came over me.”
He was apologizing for giving me the best kiss I’ve ever experienced in my life?
I would have laughed but all my energy was drained out,” No need to apologize.”
“I’m serious. I don’t even, you know, like you or anything. I don’t want you to get the wrong idea. That was a big mistake, it wont be happening again.”
It was amazing how one sentence can literally break a person’s heart. One or two misused words that you didn’t want to hear had more power than anything else. It wasn’t fair really, that we were built with strong bones if we ate right, healthy red blood if you made sure to exercise but no matter what you do, you can’t physically make your heart stronger.
It would always be the most fragile thing in your body and the thing most capable of emotional pain.
I gazed into Blade’s regretful golden eyes and saw that he meant what he had said. It was a mistake to him. Something that he did with all girls he probably drove home.
Had I forgotten so easily that he was the biggest player in our school? He knew we were mates and still slept with other girls.
I pictured the girl on the balcony and thought of how depressed I had been.
Pathetic.
I lost my voice somewhere within the chaos of my hurt. Without a word, I got off of Blade’s lap, picked up the bag that I had dropped and exited the car. I walked to my door without looking back at him.
Rejection pumped in my veins and this was worse.
Much much worse than when I witnessed Jared mating with someone else.
Someone that wasn’t me.
They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. But what happens when it does kill you?
Sleep was beyond expectation. I rolled around and fidgeted as if it would knock me unconscious but I didn’t get so lucky.
All I saw was golden.
Dark and light golden. Soft golden. Almost amber.
I felt his lips still on mines. My whole body tingled with anticipation. I couldn’t help but realize how pathetic I was being.
While he was out, probably making out with every girl he could get his hands on, I was lying on my bed, crying about it.
It hurt even more to know that I meant nothing more to him than a girl he can just kiss.
Does the word mate mean nothing to him?
Probably not. As much as he’s concerned, having a mate meant one more girl to add to his list of booty calls.
I glanced at time time.
11:21
I had been trying to sleep for two hours now.
I had to drag myself to school the next day. It was almost impossible to keep my eyes open. I threw my phone into my bag and caught sight of Blade’s shirt on my floor. I picked it up and put it in the bag also. I’d find somewhere to throw it out.
I reached school within twenty minutes, taking longer than I normally would have.
I caught sight of Lisa and Jack hanging by the parking lot and tried not to let my eyes “accidentally drift” to where Blade’s pack were standing.
“Hey!” Lisa chirped.
“Hey,” I answered.
“You look like shit,” John commented.
“Thanks,” I snapped.
“Everything alright?” Lisa asked, a concerned look crossing her feautres.
“Yeah, just not enough sleep.”
“Good morning!” Mark and Steve approached, grinning brightly.
“What happened to you?” questioned Steve.
“You look like shit,” added Mark.
I sigh and just when I was about to reply, John snapped at them,” Dude, seriously?”
“Sorry,” they muttered sheepishly.
I rolled my eyes,” It’s fine.”
“So did you hear?”
“Hear what?” I asked.
Lisa glanced at me uncertainly,” Nothing, drop it guys.”
“Why? It’s hilarious!” Steve boomed.
“What?” I found myself becoming more curious.
“It’s stupid and a rumor. We don’t even know if its true.”
“It’s totally true! Everybody knows about it! There’s pictures!”
“What!” I practically shouted.
“You know Tracy Johnson?”
Immediately, a picture of the girl on Blade’s balcony popped into my head and my shoulders stiffened.
“Yeah,” I muttered.
“Well, last night, Blade Russell was driving and stopped by her house. He called her and told her to come down . They drove to some parking lot near the new food shop and had it . They ended up falling asleep in the car!”
“Some kids from our school were walking by the car and recognized it! When they looked inside, there was Blade and Tracy sleeping with cloths all over the car!” Steve clutched his stomach laughing.
“And they took pictures!"
My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach and my wolf was in denial immediately.
This couldn’t be true.
“Show me,” I snapped.
Lisa looked as if she was ready to object.
Mark took out his iphone and flashed a picture of a sleeping Blade and Tracy curled up together in his car.
I glanced at the time it was taken.
11: 30
Where I was trying to get him out of my mind, he clearly had no trouble getting me out of his.
Mark and Steve walked away, still booming with laughter.
Lisa looked at me,” You okay?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” I asked, my voice trembling,” I don’t even know him. It’s funny though, the picture. He’s such a player.”
The first two periods went by agonizingly slow. My knees shook beneath me every time I tried to walk. I slept twice during math and when Mr. Black caught me the second time, he slapped his meter stick in front of my face.
“Do we need to meet up after class, Ms. Carson?”
“No, Mr. Black.”
“Than try to stay awake, and sleep at your own time.”
I didn’t see Blade at all during lunch. Lisa kept shooting me weird looks as if expecting me to break down any moment.
“Hey!” John shouted as he came up from behind. He rolled a can of lemonade towards me and a coke towards Lisa.
“Thanks,” I smiled and opened the lemonade.
He shared a kiss with Lisa before answering me,” No problem.”
“What day is it again?” I asked him.
“Day two.”
I sighed,” Great, I have science first.”
I walked as slowly as I could to science, dreading the moment when I’d have to see Blade.
I haven’t seen him all day, maybe he wont even be there.
But I had no such luck as I entered and saw a tired looking Blade seated on his chair.
His eyes immediately fell on mines until he was “congratulated” by some guy for scoring with Tracy Johnson in a car.
I looked away and sat down. I felt his eyes directed towards mine again and I couldn’t help but look at him.
His eyes were guilty, he knew I knew.
I rolled my eyes and looked away, pretending like I didn’t care.
I tried to sustain the scarlet of my cheeks when I remembered his lips last night.
About ten minutes into the period, Mr. Jeff called out for people to go get some racks of test tubes from the first floor.
“I need two people,” he said.
I raised my hand, eager to be outside of a room that had Blade in it.
“Okay, Emerald. Who else, come on. Stop being so lazy.”
Much to my displeasure, Blade raised his hand.
“Okay, you two, go to the first floor and get two boxes of test tubes from room 23.”
We both nodded and headed for the door.
I tried to walk faster than him, as an attempt to avoid him but that was almost impossible with how fast he walked.
“Emerald,” he spoke up. But I ignored him and walked even faster.
“Emerald, come on, let me talk.”
I replied with silence.
“You’re going the wrong way, the elevators are to the right hallway.”
I blushed angrily and headed the other way.
“If you’re trying to out walk me it wont work, you’re like 5 feet tall.”
“Five feet, six inches actually,” I snapped and kept walking.
“Finally, a response.”
We turned a corner and headed for the elevator,” I’m sorry about last night.”
“What part of last night?” I asked.
“When I told you I didn’t like you, I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Really? Because you’ve been sending me mixed messages for weeks! Why did you kiss me than?”
He shrugged,” Got caught up in the moment?”
We walked into the empty elevator and pressed the number one button.
“That’s what they all say.”
“It’s the truth.”
I turned to face him,” How could you kiss me and than go sleep with some- some slut!"
“That’s none of your business! I just wanted to apologize for kissing you but you seemed to love it!”
“Of course I loved it! What kind of person in their right mind wouldn’t have loved it!”
He chuckled sarcastically,” I’m so flattered.”
“Why did you kiss me? Give me a real answer.”
“I already told you! I got caught up in the moment!”
I finally realized what he was doing. He was trying to come up with as many excuses as possible just so he wont have to admit we’re mates.
I almost forgot that he didn’t know that I knew.
The elevator opened and I stepped out,” I’m not stupid Blade, I know the truth.”
He ran behind me, a panicked look crossing his features,” What do you mean?”
“What do you think I mean?” I headed into room 23.
“I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking you.”
I opened my bag and threw his shirt at him. He caught it with both hands and looked at me shocked,” Where did you find this?”
“By the cliff, you know, where we usually meet at night?”
“I don’t know what you mean,” he said.
“Don’t pull that crap with me!” I picked up two boxes of test tubes.
He sighed,” How did you find out?”
“I followed you and saw you shift.”
“Than you understand everything, even why I kissed you?”
I nodded,” Yes, I do, but I don’t understand how you’re able to sleep with other people.”
I stormed out of the room and towards the elevators again.
“I only slept with Tracy to get you out of my mind!”
“Hope it worked,” I muttered.
He gripped my arm, sending the boxes falling to the ground. We were chest to chest now so I felt his minty breath on my face when he said,” Well it didn’t.”
I almost lost my voice again but I knew I couldn’t let him make me so weak. I took a deep breath and muttered,” The first or second time?”
“Both times!” he snapped,” and I didn’t even sleep with Tracy the first time! I tried, but you kept popping up in my mind like a freaking addiction! Last night, I was disgusted with myself but I tried to forget you! I had to forget you! But I couldn’t! I knew you were an enemy so it was wrong! I couldn’t be a traitor to my pack like my father was to yours!”
I picked up the boxes from the ground hoping the test tubes weren’t broken and began to walk again.
“So you’re just gonna ignore me now?”
“I’m gonna do what you wanted me to do, I’m gonna get out of your life.”
“You don’t get it, even if you tried it wont work.”
I didn’t answer.
“You know, even if you weren’t an enemy, we still couldn’t be together. My mom died when I was eight. I don’t even know what she looks like. My dad forced me to become alpha a couple of years later and left. When I turned eighteen and shifted alone, almost dying in process, I knew i couldn’t rely on people anymore. Especially my mate who didn’t even bother to show up.”
I stopped walking and shut my eyes,” I didn’t know.”
“Of course you didn’t, you never bothered to consider for a second that maybe Jared isn’t your mate and somewhere out there is your real mate, on the verge of dying because of you.”
“What are you saying? That I wasted all my time on someone who ended up not even being my mate? I already know that!”
“You think you have it so bad,” he laughed sarcastically,” I heard the doctor talking to you, he said that soon we will both not be able to shift, and that we will both be on the verge of dying. Well, I’d rather be that than be stupid enough to rely on you.”
With that, he grabbed one of the box of test tubes and headed to science, using the stairs while I used the elevators.
